      >imagine planning to just eat stored food
Rationed properly, I have 18 months of stored food.
Its purpose is to get me through to a growing season no matter when the calamity hits.
It can also double as a hunker down solution and skip a grow season while the hordes are still starving.
No need to have a garden to give me away in the first 4 months. After about 6 months its cautious negotiations with new strangers in the area since pretty much most of the rest of the country that relied on supply lines will be dead.

Search for used panels. They're maybe 20% the price of a new panel and most run around 80% - 85% of their original capacity. You can get an entire array for the price of a few new panels.

Was it the UN or whoever that shipped these special straws to the turd world. The straws had some hardcore filter in them, one that you could use many times.
The idea was to just stick that straw into a dirty puddle and you had 99% clean water (some smaller viruses, microbes, still passed)
I remember seeing this video on YouTube about this, where a bloke with a microscope tested it, and the water indeed was drinkable.

Good idea for the long term. I do have some brita filters but probably won't cut it. I'm kind of focusing on short term and scaling to longer and longer. Since I don't own my own property I wanna be conservative.

        >I've read you need a gallon a day
Okay, but how much do you actually drink in a day?

Honestly I don't drink enough water but you need water for cooking a lot of things as well. 1 gallon a day may be conservative.

          Anonymous

          >Since I don't own my own property I wanna be conservative.
Backpacking water filters are light and relatively cheap. The’ll pump hundreds of gallons before the filter needs to be replaced so one or two extra filters will last you decades. Honestly water isn’t to difficult to gather if you’re creative. Take advantage of the rain.

Tough luck for your survival situation. Manlets will inherit the earth.

      Anonymous

A gallon a day is the bare minimum for drinking only, in ideal conditions (i.e. sitting around in A/C). Imagine how much you will sweat when you have to produce your own food. Your going to need water to cook and clean as well. A better estimate is 2.5-3 gallons a day.

You should be building rainwater catch systems. You can easily store 100 or more gallons just off the down spouts on an average home, with the benefit of getting more water for free when it rains.

Specified water storage containers that are flat and stackable exist. You can shove those under beds for another 40-50 gallons.

Life straws suck. Get a Sawyer purification system for when you have to travel, and a Berkey filtration system for home.

Stock up on bleach. A few drops per pint will make questionable water drinkable.

Famines are sustained, and the consequences last longer than a month.
Honestly if you're really into learning about this there are plenty of examples primarily from Europe in the last century or so, and Yemen today. The single most important thing you can actually do to ensure access to food and water is having a network of people one can rely on to at least some extent. Beyond that, it's knowing to GTFO before things get really bad.

I'm debating on whether I should just plunder the food of other people who didn't help even try to prevent the WEF takeover. I've been as active publicly as possible while the preppers were listening to X47 and QTards trusting the plan while greedily stocking up food and keeping their job.

Why should preppers live if they didn't do shit to prevent the government from being taken over?

  31. 2 years ago

Years? After 6 months, you better start to learn how to grow and raise your own food. I have 20 chickens and 3 turkeys. I'm getting goats this year and will breed them. I have 2 greenhouses and several gardens. Hoarding food isn't the answer.

I’d prefer to not kill anyone, but we don’t always get what we want.

This sort of thing is why I'm not generally concerned for anyone in mostly rural areas of the midwest. Even those with a 20-30 min drive to the nearest town or city. Virtually every household is armed, and after one or two homes get fricked everyone will be on alert and in communication with each other.

In the US, you must have guns. People in the city will starve first and must leave the city to live. This is the real zombie apocalypse everyone jokes about. They're not dead yet, but they're going to die soon. Before they do, they're going to try to steal your supplies to live. Guns, armed friends and family, a defendable stronghold, roving patrols and a good ambush location will help weather the storm. Tribalism is key. Trust is life.

  45. 2 years ago

You don't need years of food. You need months of food to help ease into a barter economy built outside of the cities. If a SHTF scenario happens you will need to already be part of a community far from the main highways in the countryside outside of the urban areas. If you honestly think you can sit in your suburban house or downtown apartment for YEARS eating dried noodles, rice and beans you're a fricking idiot. If you're actually worried about a real collapse then you better move your ass out of the cities now.
