Only reason realistically would be to reactivate one with a reserve crew solely to do CQ for aviators, pulling a fleet boat out of rotation for nuggets to pop their boat cherry is actually a bigass problem in naval aviation since the Lex retired, and getting worse and worse. You could reactivate one for CQ in Pensacola Bay etc a lot easier than getting one fully battle ready, just needs to be able to sail like a mile and turn into the wind.
I could perhaps see a use case where if we have such overwhelming naval and air defense that they wouldn't be destroyed immediately, they could be used as coastal bombardment or mobile coastal artillery?
