It looks like a firearm that expert firearm people use, it looks tough and capable. As a newer firearms enthusiast it seems like the type of weapon one might upgrade to over time
duh, why would I have guns I think suck? I've shot a lot of them and they weren't special. not their triggers, not their grip comfort and not their function.
that's like 90% of german products
in europe people pay 50k for 150hp BMWs and they reek of cheap rattly plastic but they'll pretend it's a luxury car lmao
it's an identity thing. sure you could have gotten a Mazda at better quality, more features and cheaper, but that badge, man.
Once I bought my police trade in USP ($400) it was all over for me. Now I only have HK handguns, so a P30 and a P30L in addition to the USP. I don't give a frick about the badge, or John Wick, there's just something about them that werks for some people. But it's not the triggers.
>LOLbertarian cannot go 1 thread without spouting his neo-feudalist ideology
Keynes won homosexual. Freidman and the Austrian School NeoLibs can all get fricked.
The unfortunate consequence of: >the company being based in a rich country where (qualified) labor wants to get paid adequately, where taxes and regulations are tight as frick and where everything from energies to real estate is expensive >the company being too proud AND too dependent on government contracts to outsource anything
They replace their tooling when it gets dated.
IIRC they sold it to Turks who then sold it to Pakis when it got too worn for them as well (and bought tooling the Germans were phasing out for the second time.)
They're of an excellent quality.
That said, they're not any more reliable or durable than a Glock, but maybe they have lighter triggers or something? What's a bottle of wine amongst friends?
Reliability is probably the same for normal use. HKs are definitely more durable than Glocks though. Their biggest claim to fame is how overbuilt they are. HK pistols can eat rounds that would grenade other handguns. They aren't unbreakable but they are very tough. This is especially true for the Mk23, USP and HK45. But I've fired sus +P+ 9mm in my VP9 with no problem before.
Doesn't krautland fine them whenever their guns are used in any crime in the entire world? I still can't figure out whether HK actually hates gun owners or if it's just the German govt being humongous homosexuals.
They're expensive
They're also good, for the most part
Good enough to justify the cost? Not in a vacuum, but there's no accounting for taste and individuality - if you shoot an HK better and faster than the alternatives because that particular model fits your hand and you like the manual of arms and find it intuitive - then it's the right gun for you. They're not so overpriced as to make it foolish to buy one if it's what you like.
I own multiple HK firearms. Worth it is very much a subjective thing.
Things I like about HK guns: >QC and reliability
I have numerous HKs and all of them have worked flawlessly, and beyond my personal experience they have a longstanding history of reliability and durability. >aesthetics
They matter. I don't think any polymer framed pistol looks as good as the USP does. I don't think any striker pistol looks as good as the VP9 does. >controls
I really like paddle magazine releases. They are naturally ambidextrous, intuitive and quick to use, but also nearly impossible to accidentally actuate.
Things I dislike about HK guns: >capacity to size
They've fixed this, mostly, but for a very long time they had notably lower capacity than equal sized guns from other manufacturers >triggers
They're mediocre. The VP9 gets mogged by the PPQ it is a copy of. My "match" usp trigger is "ok". I'm not a trigger snob, but on a ~$1200 polymer frame handgun, they can do better. I say this because I do not think you possibly can buy a new production handgun at the same price and get a worse trigger. They're all better at that pricepoint, HK could be too. >price
They cost more. And HK fans are morons who like to eat shit, so they actually take pride in paying it. When the VP9 dropped at $699 MSRP, everyone started shitting and pissing about how it wasn't a real HK, it was too cheap. They didn't bother to re-evaluate if their guns were real when the rest of the lineup had a price drop to match. Now ironically they hiked the price back up. My VP9sk cost me $450 new. Same gun is retailing for $750 now. It's dumb. >aftermarket
It's harder to find good holsters for HK pistols. >outdated design
HK is slow to move and adapt. Only the VP9 is available with a factory optics cut, and it's an option that costs more. Absurd. A Walther PDP is a better gun that costs $200 less and comes with the best factory optics cut on a handgun.
>QC and reliability >aesthetics >controls
Yup >capacity to size
Fair I have an early VP9 and it came with 15 rounders. I think they have 17 rounders now >triggers
Yeah on the higher end ones its annoying. The VP9 trigger is better than the Glock, worse than the PDP. I think its fine. >price
Really depends on the model. You can get the VP9 and P30 under MSRP all the time. I paid $500 for mine and that was a Bud's special the year it released. Other models like the SP5 are just flat expensive. >aftermarket
truth >outdated design
Also truth. Seems the VP9 is the only model they actually bother to keep updated. Even the P30 which is the same gun but hammer fired doesn't have a factory OR slide.

And even then if you want a threaded barrel, you'll have to have the slide milled yourself, because they don't offer an option with a threaded barrel that is optics cut from the factory.
if you really think about it, given HK guns are viewed to have a higher quality and reliability standard without getting into semi-custom to custom territory, gun hobby is quite accessible and affordable. HK's best are maybe 2-3x the price of similarly good alternatives.
I was thinking of this regarding shotguns too. the "standard" for semi-autos without getting into posh stuff is the benelli M4 or 1301, and these are ~$2K shotguns. very doable.
Agreed. Maybe they can get with the times and offer better triggers from the factory while they're at it. It could literally be just the P30 but optics ready and with a "match" trigger kit installed and people would buy it.
skill issue
Dont be poor.
>gets ripped off
>"everyone who didnt get ripped off like me is poor! Life in the fast lane yolo!"
Many such cases
I am poor and i've still somehow ended up with a P8A1, USP 45, HK45C, and a P2000.
It looks like a firearm that expert firearm people use, it looks tough and capable. As a newer firearms enthusiast it seems like the type of weapon one might upgrade to over time
Yes, that's why I avoid HK
Have you converted the safety lever for one that does not use WWII Bundeswehr pistol doctrine yet?
I just picked up a VP9sk for like $500 the other day
That's like buying a BMW 3-Series.
Compared to what? Also I would never buy a BMW.
compared to m3
Rusted out BMW 3-series from 90's or early 2000's.
What a fricking moron.
just wait until he finds out they are shit too.

For me, it is, I have a Match though, and that reset is awesome.
Nice; one day I'll have one of those too.
I don't know where you are buying your shit but you are getting fleeced.
Shit is super cheap around here way cheaper than any HK I have ever seen.
I bought a m416 chambered in 308 for like 3500 dollars.
Way to throw money away a PSA-10 is like $800 and just as good.
>just as good
absolute cope lol
poorgay who never held and handled both so he doesn't have first hand experience
>anon discovers the consequences of import fees and livable wages
>LOLbertarian cannot go 1 thread without spouting his neo-feudalist ideology
Keynes won homosexual. Freidman and the Austrian School NeoLibs can all get fricked.
imma be real with u dawg I don't know what the frick you just said maybe you should go back to the board centered around political discussion
Then don't buy them. Their handguns aren't even that expensive
>Keynes wo-
never speak on this board again homosexual.
Walther has to deal with the same import fees and livable wages. They are making guns in the same exact country anon.
Walther makes piston ar?
Bro, I just bought a HK45 and 4 mags for $750. That's cheaper than a fricking Kimber base 1911. Where do you live? Illinois?
The unfortunate consequence of:
>the company being based in a rich country where (qualified) labor wants to get paid adequately, where taxes and regulations are tight as frick and where everything from energies to real estate is expensive
>the company being too proud AND too dependent on government contracts to outsource anything
Them getting raped by fricktarded german export laws doesn't help either.
Did you in grave your sbrs?
Not a burger, the HK243 never got imported.
>All their guns are expensive as shit.
Call HK customer service. Lulz
Pistols are cheap ish
Rifles and subguns are silly - sp5 tooling is 50 years old the margins on it have to dumb high
IIRC they sold the tooling to the Turks years back and made new tooling for the sp5 lol.
They replace their tooling when it gets dated.
IIRC they sold it to Turks who then sold it to Pakis when it got too worn for them as well (and bought tooling the Germans were phasing out for the second time.)
And yet even with HK tools turks are moronic wienerroaches that can't make a good looking (or functioning) MP5.
They're of an excellent quality.

frick ya mudda
Glock has outdone them time and again. HK sells a good AR, that's it
The only thing they sell of "value" is the Mk23 and the USP thanks to vidya
H&K ARs are literally "why" tier. Even moreso with real 416s instead of SAWs and M4s.
That said, I love their DA/SAs and roller lock bois
For us fricking plebs they're "why" tier, for everyone else not so much
They're expensive
They're also good, for the most part
Good enough to justify the cost? Good points. You know what the best gun is?
The one you are most comfortable shooting. Simple as.
Are they worth it? Many gun people will tolerate high premiums for high quality
I own multiple HK firearms. Worth it is very much a subjective thing.

I heard HK isn't releasing the micro compact gun. Another year...

It's only money.

I got a P30 for 100 bucks more than a glock and it's definitely a better gun
>supporting Germany in 2011+13
I shiggy
Got this one new for 780€. A Glock chambered in the same calibre would have been ~650€
Their VP9 and P30 are appropriately priced for what they are.
I just hope HK announces a new hammer fired pistol soon. The P30 is almost 20 years old at this point.
Agreed. Maybe they can get with the times and offer better triggers from the factory while they're at it. It could literally be just the P30 but optics ready and with a "match" trigger kit installed and people would buy it.
>All their guns are expensive
no.
The pistols are cheap, but they suck.
The MP5 is worse than a JP5 but also PCCs are outdated anyway.
The 416/7 is worse than just a normal DI AR.
