All "Gap Filler" FA-50 (essentially ex RoKAF stocks) you meant
The actual FA-50 Block 20 wont be delivered until 2027 at least. Since Malaysia and Senegal are also getting FA-50 Block 20 (basically by riding off Polish programme. Letting the poles to pay for integration cost and they got themselves FA-50 Block 20 at a far reduced price) expect more delay, perhaps even 2030
>can't carry heavy payload like stormshadow >can't carry bvr a2a missiles like aim120 >can only carry small bombs and missiles
ummm what do poles gonna with these things?
>a supersonic jet trainer with a radar and some hard points which can merely install some light missiles
definitely placed as a low-end F16s for junior AF pilots, but still useful than a MiG-29 consider kurwas has less and less soviet weapons on stock

Yeah, you would be to dumb to think FA-50 carries less than Gripen when it has the same engine and almost the same wingspan as F-16.
FA-50 >Empty weight 6,470kg >Payload 5,400kg >MTOW 10,722kg
What moronic asiatic did the math here where empty weight + payload exceeds the MTOW by 1 ton without even accounting for fuel.
>wikipedia
Highest capacity weapon stations: F/A-50 2500lbs, Gripen NG 2865lbs, late F-16 4500lbs, F-35 5000lbs. Number of hardpoints is also limited, you have 3 heavy ones instead of 5. No dedicated hardpoints for targeting or EW pods, you will quickly run out of space and the plane will rarely fly missions near its MTOW. Better weapons like any AIM-120 variant or anything newer than obsolete AIM-9L are not integrated yet btw, RDT&E for integration typically costs $50-250M per weapon type
>Gripen NG
homie why would you compare with a version more expensive than F-35 when C/D are the obvious rivals? >Number of hardpoints is also limited
Seems adequate for its class. >No dedicated hardpoints for targeting or EW pods
So is Turkish Hurjet. >Better weapons like any AIM-120 variant or anything newer than obsolete AIM-9L are not integrated yet btw
AMRAAM integration is ongoing as per the request from the Polish air force. Btw, did you know that the current Gripen E doesn't have AIM-120 integrated unlike its previous versions? The US state department doesn't allow new integrations of AIM-120 on non-US aircrafts except for a few exception like FA-50, which has LM as a co-developer.
>homie why would you compare with a version more expensive than F-35 when C/D are the obvious rivals?
first version I found, does C or D have stronger hardpoints? but shouldn't matter, FA-50 can't carry heavy cruise missiles just like the first anon stated and comparing it to a full fledged fighter is pointless >AMRAAM integration is ongoing as per the request from the Polish air force
an executive agreement for radar and weapon integration has not been signed yet
Korea is flying them with 9m btw
Also, is 300 lbs justifies upgrading to F414? If anything the upcoming single seat FA-50 variant could probably carry more payload despite using the same engine
[...]
It "could" carry ass-ram if the poles choose to integrate them. It doesn't make sense to integrate them on FA-50 if the F-16 (Poles actual front line jets) couldn't fire assram.
>Korea is flying them with 9m btw
good point but it's still obsolete and hard to buy, 9X would be good
Also, is 300 lbs justifies upgrading to F414? If anything the upcoming single seat FA-50 variant could probably carry more payload despite using the same engine
It can carry ASSRAAMS

We should have just bought some cessans and install sidewinders on them, same fricking value. Until they get AMRAAMs integrated these are fricking worthless as anything else other than trainer.
The FA-50 is a shitshow and they are all as of April 2024 grounded due to legal issues with the catapult. They are unarmed - the plane can't carry AIM-9X Sidewinder and asiatics are asking insane price to modify them to carry it. There are massive training issues. There is nowhere to properly service them.
Basically the much touted PIS-led military procurement effort is a complete disaster and was basically done to secure them an election win.
>asiatics are asking insane price to modify them to carry it
Those prices are not insane (I heard ~$300M for AIM-120 and AESA radar), that's just how much weapon integration costs. The problem is neither Korea nor many export customers are interested in block 20 variant and Poland would have to cover most of the cost

>Once they get F-16V radars
When is that happening?
several years after the R&D gets funded, 2025-2027 soonest

Thank you ChatGPT
They were bought as replacement for ground attack planes. The idea was to turn them into Brimstone or Spike trucks.

Train pilots?

Once they get F-16V radars and better missiles they would be good cheap drone hunters.
>Once they get F-16V radars

Need bodies before you can make pilots.
Its a trainer. Any other use is a meme.
Apparently Poland also wants to use Block 20 for cheap air policing
The FA-50 will be able to carry AMRAAM and the light version of Taurus.
What the hell are you talking about? FA-50 can carry as much as Gripens.
>14 000kg = 10 722kg
Can you actually read?
>gripen payload: 11,700lbs

I think the wikipedia page mixed it up with T-50B, which is a trainer only version as compared to the current FA-50 airframe.

training and shoting down drones
Patrol the border and look for drones and rogue missiles. It's cheaper to use FA50 than F16 for stuff like that.

please learn English, moron
