Someone got more aggressive, but it is the russians or the ukrainians?

          Anonymous

The Russians. They're desperately trying to force peace talks before the Raspubreastsya dries. That means meat tsunamis and overaggressive air sorties. They're making attempts to soften up targets for the waves. I imagine the losses are actually pretty rough for the Ukies, but at least they're being allowed to retreat.

With them retreating, the ground forces are probably giving their air assets bad information based on overconfidence, they're overextending their jets, and they're getting pasted because the AA doesn't need to retreat as quickly as the infantry/armor.

Plus, with it being their territory, the places they're retreating to are better fortified.

I mean the fact people are surprised by tanks being destroyed still confuses me. The reason people laugh at Russia is not because their tanks blow up but the sheer amount that have. Nobody claimed Abrams, Challenger, Leopards were invincible. It's just a weird thing.

lol, EU production of shells and willingness to provide better and better weapons has only been increasing.
Even if US election somehow falls to a party unwilling to secure good terms for Ukraine (which is incredibly unlikely), EU support alone can dwarf Russia long term.
Ukraine has enough men to keep it going as long as someone wants to bankroll it, and the EU aint stopping any time soon. This conflict will take years still btw.

      >This conflict will take years still btw.
      [doubt]

at current depletion rates (corroborated by satellite imagery), russian storage sites will hit zero before 2025
russia has been losing a plane per day recently (and two AWACS since the year started, lmao), due to using them as a poor man's precision artillery (guess why they do that)
their oil output is down a third, due to drone strikes that are only intensifying
extraction infrastructure is unmaintained and running on fumes - once it starts breaking down en masse most of their revenue is gone

meanwhile Ukraine is scheduled to get more AA, EU shell production is growing steadily, F16s are on their way

in short, summer will be wild

    NASAM's

Russians have a video destroying one with a shitty drone. Which means it was really close to the front. With radar track it has a range of 120km. Conversely MIM-104 Patriot has a range of 160km.

If I were Ukrainian I would not risk my far more capable, and harder to replace, Patriots for an extra 40km. Using NASAMS to intercept is far more logical.

              Anonymous

Lol no, soviet bloc wasn't too keen on sharing statistics openly. I expect the soviet numbers to be a bit lower, their ejection seat technology was worse until the 80s. There is not much pilot training to do, most important thing is making the ejection decision early and within the seat envelope, then SERE techniques but that's outside the scope of the quoted statistics

There's plenty of footage of Russians successfully ejecting and being recovered, so I guess their ejection seats do work. So unless they're directly hit by whatever caused their plane to crash, there's a good chance they'll survive.
Note that ejecting out of a high-speed aircraft isn't exactly safe either, and the forces from the ejection seat firing and what happens afterwards can still easily cause career-ending back injuries.

Russian are pushing their luck with the glide bombs.
As they move forward they got closer to Ukrainian SAMs and they pay the price.
In avdiivka they were just far enough to drop glide bombs from Max range with impunity as no patriot was located within the avdiivka salient (too exposed location and in lancets range) so they had some notable success from the time Ukraine ran out of s300 missiles and had to rely on the patriot (which is great but limited in range) to the fall of avdiivka. Now they are in range again if they aren't extremely careful.
The Ukrainians still have S200 which is a massive missile with great range but that missile is very old and would struggle to hit the planes used to drop glide bombs (but still good enough for a big slow target like the A50 apparently)

Or, possibly, Ukie AD has been degraded enough to begin aggressive ground support ops in combination with the apparent supply of glide-bomb kits. Ukies are probably frantic with trying to fight back ie using AD ambush tactics enabled by NATO telemetry, but lack of interceptors is likely hampering these efforts a lot ie they’ll only release on a strong possibility of kill on a high-value target so the troops on the ground have no choice but to get plastered with FABs. The NVA faced the same dilemma as Linebacker used up all their interceptors forcing them to converse shots resulting in the USAF having mostly free-reign — even though the NVA could still shoot down stuff they couldn’t stem the tide.

So…what? The VKS is doing suicide ops? Is it some weird Slavic magic ritual? The huge amount of glide-bomb attacks are widely reported and a major part of why Avdiivka fell and other areas of the front are being pushed back. Last year I read that Russia was running like 200 sorties a day iirc, how many are running now, and does a half-dozen shoot-downs impact that to a major degree? I know you’re just here to jerk off to social feedback so just post your meme and we’ll move on.

Pretty sure it's some kind of F-16/First world magic.

Maybe? Those have been popular with russian aviation recently. Arrange a seance to ask VDV for more details.

Unfortunately the collective west has put less than 1% to supporting Ukraine.
I do agree we should have gone 100% and glassed russia 2 years ago to give them a quick and merciful death. They don't deserve their suffering.

I'm starting to wonder how many are just falling apart from overuse and under maintenance.

This is too consistent to be that. They're flying similar missions every day and getting rekt.
The question is how long it will take russia to figure out this is not sustainable and stop flying suicide missions. Or at least make a basic cost/benefit analysis and figure out this isn't helping them.

they cant stop, monke wants results. now. even without AWACS or SIGINT planes. In Donetsk area they drop close too 200 KABs a day for past 11-12 days. But they are probably saving their attack heli fleet for countering Ukraine's next offensive.

Mm. Ukraine needs a weapon to swiftly turn alligator from endagered to extinct before going for a new offensive.
