I think its pretty fun, but is in no way a realistic analog to real firearm combat. Maybe playing in run down industrial sectors and fields might give you a 10% idea of how quickly you would fricking die in a dense urban fight, and maybe communication with teammates? I don't know, kinda gay when your team loses and you have to line up for defeat blowjobs so we.

Firstly range wise, you really can't hit shit past 40-50m max with standard and even upgraded assault rifle replicas. Second its just goofy sounding, its easy to keep calm and concentrate during an airsoft match because you hear gearboxes whirring and gas replicas plinking smol plastic at and around you, the auditory and visual stimuli is no where near stressful enough as it would be in a real fight, hence won't affect your actions and decision making. Not to mention the fact that you know you wont die so why wouldn't you try your luck clearing a room or set of rooms by yourself? There are arguments to be made about trying and playing in your real gear to get a feel for the weight and ergo, and working on drills and tactics with friends but that's about it isn't it?
When I was a kid we used to go into the woods and shoot at each other with bb guns. Whenever I see airsoft I wonder if one of the cry baby pussies invented it.

Militaries train with solid rubber rifles & blank fire rifles, airsoft wont turn you into some delta force chad, but if you have literally nothing else, or any kind of intermediate/advanced training or range is too far/too expensive, it helps you learn how to handle a rifle comfortably and perform basic functions like reloads, mag retention, concealment, movement under """fire""", and all sorts of other shit that will easily help you improve 5% - 15%, granted if you play it like a homosexual you're just going to teach yourself how to die, but at the very least walking around for 8 hours in full kit with a half weight rifle is 1000% beneficial
This. The military uses MILES gear which in theory is slightly better than airsoft, and functionally sucks ass. Get you and your buddies, gear up and get a cheap way to train squad tactics and test out your kit
