The Gepard always was a great system. The only reason the Germs canned it and the development of its successor was because of budgetary constraints. If they hadn't bled the Bundeswehr dry for the past 30 years we'd have a lot more Gepards or a similar toy available today

Gepards turned to still be able to do the job they were designed for like half a century ago perfectly and with some upgrades they actually didn't just retain their value but gained additional value on the battlefield due to the onset of drones.
Armored vehicles and tanks from nearly a century ago are still useful as well (don't tell warriortard that that includes the 3-round mag carrying british one).
Trenches, something modern armies increasingly moved away from, have proven their value too (means grunts will probably have to dig a lot more again in the future).
Mines and minefields, simple as they are, also make clear impacts.
I've seen videos of ukrainian soldiers reviewing it and explaining how to use it, you should be able to just look it up on on youtube. They seem to like it a lot as it deletes an entire half of the most modern Russian tanks even if it hits the front. The aftermath of those hits is documented as well.
Might be another case like the Gepard where the German government asked Ukraine not to film that shit.

Javelins did great, but HIMARS probably got the best sales pitch for the US out of the war so far, if we use that as an estimate.

If you're still around, I don't think it's so much that Switchblades did poorly, but rather that the role they play isn't really relevant in this kind of war. The 300s have had pretty good effect when used in their designed purpose, E.X. the FSB dudes getting shwakt but they're obviously worse when compared to the normal drone drops and the FPV drones in terms of cost-effectiveness and effect on target when used in frontline roles. There's plenty of vids of Ukrainian SOF backpacking them around, in addition to regular gear, which I think demonstrates one of its main selling points: it's lightweight and portable. The damage is also very localized and directional, which is great for minimizing collateral in the sandbox, terrible for frontline duty. The camera footage is also pretty good and it seems to be fairly intuitive to use and accurate. Overall, I think it's an unfairly maligned system due to its poor performance in roles it wasn't intended to fulfill.

I've been incredibly surprised at the M113's performance in this war. Back in 2021, I would have said the M113 would be a useless deathtrap on the modern battlefield. Is it obsolete, vulnerable, and of limited utility? Yes. But the Ukrainians have been getting *some* use out of it, and as the saying goes, 'the remarkable thing about a dancing bear is not that it dances well, but that the bear dances at all.'
War is like the rings of an onion, at the edge is the thin hardened skin that faces the enemy directly these are your tanks and most advanced systems. But these are just edge case, the volume of material is not front line and this is what wins war it's total "work" done, troops moved, dirt excavated, ammo transferred and sorted, minefields cleared, food cooked, all of this you could boil down to a single metric of horse power, m113 does work that needs to be done, the fact it's easily cut up on the edge isn't relevant.
They work fine as APCs, but the APC concept was born obsolete because anything with tracks and armor WILL be used as an IFV then die then be blamed for not being an IFV. It's instinctive. Wheeled vehicles are expected to suck so HMMWV gets love for being a misused turd in combat.
While nothing matched M113 for mobility in Southeast Asia (VN still use theirs) mobility doesn't matter much in real wars where trucks are just fine, and swimming not at all because river banks are mostly not surmountable. The US should never have built half-tracks AKA Purple Heart Boxes or M113 or any APC at all and gone straight to IFVs. Wheeled APCs as used by Russia are also helpless mistakes with useless armor.
Anything less than Namer is junk today and those require Trophy as anything without APS is also doomed.
It was a measure of technological capability. Armor design wasn't good enough, and engines weren't powerful enough to produce an IFV that was both well-armored and mobile. If you look at the early IFV designs (Schutzenpanzer HS.30, BMP-1), they're all tragic tin cans. Same thing was happening with tanks, you couldn't build 'true' MBTs because the engines weren't capable (the MBT is basically a heavy tank with a frickhueg engine).

Now don't get me wrong I do not advocate going back to unguided rockets as a norm. BUT people were questioning the need for these cheaper launchers at all, and boy were they wrong.
Shit is, ATGMs are great at long ranges, but for squad defense or shoeter range ambushes you have the rockets like these. But since all we've seen before is russian RPGs being used vs NATO tanks, those rokets looked ineffective at best, stupid at worst. Now we're seeing Ukranians use the much stronger NATO rockets vs the much weaker Russian tanks. Rockets are a turret tossing competition mainstay. God save Ukraine and thanks for making Instalaza's publicity for them that's doing wonders for our economy we should have sent more.
Also more generally, seeing drones dominate until antiair fricks them, then dominate again when HIMARs fricks the antiair proves the same thing all wars ever proved. No one tactic wins, combined arms is king and will always be.

Using an AGTM for a soft skinned truck or some enemy infantry in small building is incredibly wasteful, whereas a cheap unguided rocket would be perfect for the job
It is easy to forget that shoulder-fired launchers are also essential assets for busting up enemy MG positions, and other fortifications. Guided AT weapons are great at AT but not as versatile, portable, or economic as an M72A7 for blowing the shit out of a PKM nest.

Javelin's aiming unit makes for a fantastic infantry thermal when properly Black person-rigged, but as a man-portable atgm NLAW was doing better - it's lighter, much easier to use, and more ubiquitous, and kills russian armor just as well. Overall, western nv and thermals are leagues above anything we had before or could get commercially, but you can't equip everyone.
Scar h is a bloody good rifle, I don't see me ever going back to ak variants if I have a choice.
Western radars (incl counterbattery) are pretty fricking good, also ew and sigint gear we get is in short supply but it makes a difference.
Also, I cannot overstate how fricking indispensable starlink has been, if not for musk being a 50 yo teenage idiot we could do so much more with it. Overall we could use some cheap and reliable satellite comms modules in our manufacturing.

M113 is a shitbox, not much better than a mtlb, it's more spacious/comfy inside, but mtlb wins points for lower profile and ridiculous all-terrain ability. M113 meanwhile can and in fact several times did roll over.

I didn't get the opportunity to be spoiled with latest gen thermals on every grunt, so I guess I don't mind that much:D High-end, nice resolution stuff either goes into manufacturing or gets issued to elite units, and as I said it is miles above anything we can normally get our hand onto. But for an infantry section manning a trench with half of their gear what they took with them from home, a clu they can take off of used javelin is pretty fricking great, at пocaдкa to пocaдкa ranges it does the job and better than doing it with an ir searchlight.
I would imagine it is still far outclasses the mark 1 eyeball, which is their main problem throughout the whole conflict - not having enough force-multipliers to equip everyone

Even from before the invasion last year, there has been almost zero leakage from the AFU, with very few exception, all tiktoks and telegrams we see from the Ukrainian side are from volunteer units, national guard or civilians. Do they just take away all your devices? Or is there just such tight discipline?

Specialists for setting up and fixing weaponry and people needed for sharing NATO intelligence. It is unlikely there was very much direct action using bong SAS infantry outside of specialist kit and maybe a few instructors alongside Ukrainians to see how tactics work in field. These are supportive actions, it makes no sense to send basic grunt tier SAS ops in a long dense frontline war.
As for Starstreak, it's still used. There are quite a few videos of martlet being used against lower cost drones and helicopters at extreme range through the infantry launcher, and a few from stormer. It seems effective enough, else we wouldn't see them at all being frontline and attacked.
