This is not WW2 homosexual. Just put it on a helicopter.

    It's not remotely aerodynamic.

It would need to be mostly engines and would need a massive runway and also wings would need to be longer. And all this to get an APC (not a proper IFV) that's outdated into a fight?

    Just get a helicopter or a V-22.

      Why wouldn't it work?

Because I remembered seeing shit on this earlier-

An m113 is comparable in weight to an ATR-42, a cargo plane with a minimum takeoff speed of 150 MPH. This plane has 2 (two) turboprops, and a 80 foot wingspan.(10x the size of an m113). It has a 3600 foot takeoff and landing distance.

For you Europeans, that's a full kilometer and change of runway, 241 KM/H minimum takeoff speed, and a 25 meter wingspan.

You're not transporting 8 dudes in what is effectively a medium cargo plane- Especially one with Tracks instead of wheels. It can't get up to speed, even if it had a second engine.

Compared to a helicopter it's insanely stupid, especially since the m113 isn't capable of eating anything bigger than small arms.

    Because it's fricking moronic, Anon.

Drop the pylons off the side, make the wings fold in, and I'd say you have a solid glider for inserting IFVs n shit quietly.

Too much drag. Chuck it in a glider and it would work just fine, though.

      is this even possible?
WW2-era hamilcar glider could only carry a 7 or 8-ton load
we could probably bump that up by replacing the wood and canvas with plastic and fiberglass, but a combat loaded M113A3 is still 12 tons
and thats not counting specialist gear that paratroopers need like ATGMs

Theres no way in hell those wings provide enough lift

Nobody is saying it wouldn't, but they are saying you shouldn't

    > wings too small
    > center of gravity too forward
    > weight too large
    > using it as intended constitutes a tipified warcrime (leaving missiles abandooned with the glider is against the geneva convention)
    > why even biplane? Just why? That actually reduces weight lift, it only increases maneuverability.
    > Aerodinamics? What are those can I eat them?
    > HELICOPTERS EXIST.

The frick would be its combat role anyways?
Is it a fast deployable paratrooper vehicle that ditches its wings after landing?
Or is it supposed to be a honest to got fighter plane, which the missiles would suggest?
And how the frick is it even supposed to get of the ground? How was can those tracks realistically take it?
