According to classified Pentagon documents leaked online, China conducted a flight test of a developmental DF-27 IRBM-class hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) on Feb. 25. The HGV flew for ~12 minutes and traveled ~2,100km.

The only reason China invests so much into this stuff is because they still can’t into jet engines and know they’ll never be able to gain air superiority. There’s not much point to having hypersonic weapons in US doctrine. They’d be nice to have for sure but it’s not really a necessity and we can take our time getting there.

What’s China’s cope for having ships with backwards hatches and tanks that give the crew carbon monoxide poisoning?

Designing and building modern turbofans requires several orders of magnitude greater engineering effort/experience than a HGV. I’d argue designing and building the machines that build modern turbofans require greater expertise

Can anyone here explain the difference between centripetal motion and centrifugal motion? I'm super confused.

      Anonymous

      No

      Anonymous

centripetal force make things move in a circle, like the string tied to a rock held by you, that string's tension points inwards to the centrum of the circle traced by the rock, keeping the rock in a curved trajectory
centrifugal force is a pseudo-force (meaning that it is not a true force but an illusion), it is the sensation an object feels as its inertial movement tries to continue in a straight path while it is on a curved path of motion
this is a rough and moronic simplification

You know how every force has an equal and opposite reaction?
If you're in free fall, you feel no force.
If you're standing still in a grav field, you're exerting force and something else is exerting the opposite of said force on you.
I.e. hold an apple in your hand, the weight of the apple pushes down, your hand pushes up.
If you're moving in a circle, there's an acceleration towards the center since you're constantly changing direction (if the acceleration stops you'll be moving in a straight line). If there's an acceleration, there must be a force. That's the centripetal force, towards the center of the circle. However, this also means you'll be exerting an opposite force against whatever it is that's keeping you moving in a circle. That's called the centrifugal force, as in centrifuges.
Some people will say it's a ficticious force. However such a thing doesn't exist. In physics all frames of reference are equal, meaning the perspective of the spinning object being at rest and of the non spinning frame being at rest are equally valid, and neither force more "real". We should strap said people to centrifuges. Best of luck!

      Anonymous

Centripetal force is a reaction to the constant inward acceleration needed to move continuously in a circle
      Centrifugal force doesn't exist

All that info there is just a compilation of mostly publicly available shit. Out of 110 docs i have only got my eyes on 40 and none of it is critical information.
The remaining 70 about Iran, South Kore, Israel and China are the big fish not the slavic Black person war reports.
The issue is these millenial and zoomer generayions are absokutly pussified and all the homosexuals that alegedly have them wont post because muh "FBI" will knock on their door.
God i hate these homosexual generations, in the old days these would be on wikileaks the next day.
Tldr zoomies are too moronic and lazy to make credible forgeries so i wouldnt worry about it.

All I can say for sure is that this isn’t a real daily intelligence brief. Everything from the formatting to the language used is wrong. Picrel is still what higher level briefings generally look like unless the target audience is a bunch of nobody E-3 intel analysts in the army, in which case they aren’t telling them anything that important anyway.

    What does "hypersonic" actually mean?

Is the American Phoenix hypersonic since it goes at like Mach 5?

      Technically, yes.

Every IRBM and ICBM is also hypersonic.

A lot of missiles are hypersonic. Anything that goes Mach +.

Then why ar wthe chinks and the Russian so smug? Isn't the phoenix like 40+ year old tech by now?

          Anonymous

an ICBM is hypersonic because of the gravity effect when it's descending. a hypersonic missile's speed - like the one that Russia has - isn't like that. picrel is the stage where a MIRV/ICBM becomes hypersonic in.

it's quite literally an air launched Iskander. Strapping the second stage of a Minuteman to an F-15 was proposed and started going through wind tunnel tests back in the early 2000s before realizing even as an interim solution it wasn't worth it and instead just went back to slow cooking real hypersonic weapons programs.

                That's hilarious
Is the missile on top because if it was below, the wheels couldn't reach the ground?
Also, was it intended for a nuclear warhead or just conventional?

                Anonymous

Zircon is supposed to be scramjet. But Kinzhal, according to Ukrainians, still works and seems like (interview on BBC) you really can't see it on radars.

isn't basically anything going hypersonic going to be invisible because its covered in the plasma sheath? Did they figure out how to effectively guide the missile yet? Because the sheath also makes it opaque to basically all other kinds of electromagnetic radiation so you have to go with shit like inertial guidance which is why nobody reasonable pursued hypersonics to this day

There are two types of hypersonic. The first is simply something that can go Mach 5+, the second is something that can do Mach 5+ and maneuver in atmosphere without tearing itself to pieces. The first is pretty easy to do, the second is complete fricking bullshit made up by Russia and China and the DoD for gibs.

It's more to do with Its unpredictable "gliding" trajectory + speed that makes It much harder to intercept than your usual ballistic missiles (which are hypersonic on their terminal phase but their trajectory is easy to predict)

This is just US proxy war. It's not possible to deny after "leaks".
All intelligence data come to Ukraine. US knows everything: where to strike, when to strike, all Russian plans, everything. It's basically map hack for Ukraine. And Russia can't do anything about it. Any attempt to destroy all those giga-advanced spy satellites will cause WW3. The best you can it to dab on drone out of anger. Ultimate cuckolding. US wanted this for decades. One big bait, The Black Swan.
