thermal sights are just so incredibly useful. I'm curious why the US and crew haven't flooded Ukraine with them considering how big of an impact they seem to be able to have

Small arms shit is useful, but shells/HIMARS/ATACAMS will win war. There are always more Russians to walk into crosshairs and take up a sniper's time, but kill their vehicles and ability to wage war and the mobiks will not even be able to arrive at the battlefield to get shot.

They will go on foot
Artillery kills people, but you need people to show the artillery where to shoot. Shoot the people and the artillery is useless.
More dead Russians means less people to point at a place.
