In the market for a 380 pocket pistol.
Went to the range and pic related was the best one I shot. Small, good egos for me, went into the pocket nice, and I shot it not bad.
Why aren't Kahr pistols more popular? Do they have some flaw that I won't see until after I buy?
Bro no.
A 380? What you gon do wit a 380? Pop off some rounds your boys think you dry fire?
Nah bro. You need to man up get a 9. 380 is on some pussy shit. Gay shit bro. Two dudes get up to alone none of mine so ain't saying it's wrong. I mean it is wrong but I ain't saying it is wrong because we ain't tryin to fix that part of your life right now bro. Trying to get you to step up to big shots bro.
Lift some weights and get a 9. Be ready for whatever bro.
That spacing, that incoherent way of speaking, is this fetal alcohol posting?
Just because you’re being ironic doesn’t mean you aren’t actively lowering people’s quality of life by exposing them to Black persondry.
Words have impact, anon.
I’m sorry you need a full sized gun to feel safe
Even the original is good enough that I never bothered to upgrade
moron speak
Kahrs are cool but a Ruger LCP Max is pretty good for pocket carry
tis on my shopping list.
captcha: SXSJA
I like my LCP Max because it’s so easy to carry, but it rattles too much and is inaccurate at any range, so I don’t trust it for anything other than very close range, in a dire emergency.
Lmao try practicing some more homosexual, I’ve 1000 rounds through mine with no accuracy problems
Do yours rattle a lot though? I tried posting about this in /hg/. My Glock, for example, has next to no rattle between the slide and the frame, but my LCP straight up just feels like the slide and frame aren’t well fitted. Yeah it shoots but I don’t want it to explode on me or some shit
It's accurate enough at 7 yards.
mine came shooting hard to the left at 7 yards from the factory. you just have to adjust the sights and everything will be ok.
Shot one of these at a rental range and liked it.
Seriously consider a derringer or a chiappa rhino subnose revolver
Please tell me you're not considering a derringer for anything other than a back up
Kahr is good quality, but they are expensive for what they are. They came around at a time when nobody really made a tiny polymer wonder 9. They charged a premium then because they could, but eventually everybody else got in the market and pushed prices down. At a time when you could get a new shield for $400, the kahr was still 600. They did come out with a cheaper model, but they cut a lot of corners and it feels like a sigma for twice the price.
>Why aren't Kahr pistols more popular?
Ruger exists and makes a superior product at a lower price point.
And those are straight up ripoffs of Keltec P32 & P3AT
Ruger is generally a brand to avoid except for their revolvers. They without fail always release their semiauto handguns with some horrible flaw that's definitely done on purpose. The LC9 had a ridiculously long trigger pull, I thought it was broken the first time I took it to the range because I was pulling the damn thing so far back and it wouldn't go off. Then they release the LC9s with a normal trigger. Then the LC9s Pro with no safety, which I don't care for but why wait 5 years to release the gun that someone may have wanted? They want to force you to buy the same gun multiple times. Exactly why their LCP had no slide stop and a comically bad trigger, so they could later release one with a slide stop, then one with a fixed trigger. Someone dedicated to that platform mightve stupidly bought all 3 giving them 3 transactions rather than just 1. It's a sales scheme and bad engineering anyway. No agencies or militaries use Rugers, the rest of their guns are shit too. Even the 10/22 sucks but was just the first semiauto .22 to be reliable enough to function because they used a rotary magazine. Now there are plenty of better options. Their bolt actions are either highly overpriced or shit quality for the budget ones. Revolvers are fine though, I prefer theirs to S&W because they don't have a Hillary hole.
i really want keltec to shit out another batch of the p32s
I have a cw380 and I like it a lot.
When I bought mine it was $299, not sure where they are now.
Tagua makes an adorable leather thumb break OWB holster for them too, I have one just because it's funny to put alongside my 1911 OWB holster for memes.
That is a great idea.
I have a CW9 so gonna order an OWB for it and swap it out for my mag holster. Why carry a spare mag when you can carry a whole spare gun?
Get a cross draw for the khar if your carry strong side OWB. Helps to balance out the weight and you can still draw it with your strong hand.
The Kahrs are a relic from Gun Culture 2.1, early 2000s when serious concessions had to be made to pocket carry a semi-auto. Those concessions no longer have to be made. If, for whatever myriad of reasons, you decide that you need a pocket 380 in your life, you can now do better than a Kahr.
My friend pocket carries a fi model d 380 for some reason. Its really picky about ammo and it jams at least once a magazine but he insists on carrying it instead of carrying a more reliable firearm. How do i convince him to use something else?
write something about how you wish you would have got him a better gun and how he would still be alive today if not for your bad decision making and send it to him and tell him you will read it at his funeral after his model D jams and he gets murked on the streets and his wife rapped.
I've never shot or held a Kahr, in fact I'm not even sure I've seen one in real life at a gun store, but I've always thought they looked like I'd like the way they feel and the way their triggers would pull. I get the feeling they'd shoot like those older Ruger P-series, which I enjoyed shooting. Monitoring this thread out of curiosity.
I like the way my CW9 feels in my hand. Pretty shootable for a micro gun.
The trigger is DAO which is just part of their design philosophy. It isn't a bad one, smooth, not stupid heavy. But it is of course long and has no wall so it is not fun. But for the application, shooting someone at roughly point blank range, it is fine.
I remember a poster on here saying shooting one in .40 was a great way to get over flinching in anticipation or something like that.
I’m not everybody but I liked the trigger on my CM9, if you’ve never tried one they’re pretty interesting. Sold it because I was going to get a PM9 then poorgay’d through college and forgot.
What’s the consensus on Bodyguards? So far it’s the only pocket pistol that’s felt right. But is it really DA only? Pretty whack.
Dude, they are horrible. My mom owns one and carries it everywhere and every day so I don’t say anything but the trigger is atrocious. They have snappy recoil, you pull the gun 3 inches up with each shot, and replacing the batteries on the laser sucks. I honestly cannot find another handgun for self defense that would be worse
I’d imagine the trigger pull is awful, tbo with a gun that small I can’t imagine ever using it on targets farther than a few feet away. It really would be a “guy is grabbing my arm/car door so I shot him point blank” kind of gun. The laser pointer honestly is better off as dead weight soaking up recoil rather doing anything to assist aim.
Most guns in that category are DA only. Much safer for pocket carry.
That being said, the bodyguard is heavy for its class which should help with the recoil. I think the p32 is the very best pistol in that particular niche because it's ultralight, DAO and soft shooting because of the diminutive 32acp.
These kinds of guns aren't meant to be a dedicated primary carry gun but when you get used to the ease of carry they tend to become a primary so plan accordingly and get something that you can shoot well. Snub nose revolvers are certainly a bit large and heavy for the role but if you can manage the extra bulk you get a much better gun.
honestly terrible friend bought one for his girlfriend so got to shoot it and holy crap its as bad as a p-64 with snap
This is the best one. Has a safety and slide locks back on the last round. israeliteger just added that feature to their LCP II, but begs the question as to why it was missing in the first place on the LCP I. S&W makes solid guns, and is used by many law enforcement agencies. Rugers are not used by any law enforcement agency or military worldwide. They're shit guns and they're just going to release an updated version of your model in 2 years that you'll feel forced to buy, like all the idiots that went "wait mine doesn't have a slide release, guess I'll buy the same gun a second time!" Brilliant marketing scheme really.
Kahrs are fine but no safety on a pocket gun is a bit moronic.
Literally traded mine in within a week and a half. Shit was god awful. Never in my fricking life have I had to deal with such a shit gun.
Guys want the most capable pistol possible which is why the sig p365 is so popular. Assuming the khar is reliable (never shot one), it fits into the pocket carry niche pretty well. I personally would prefer a revolver for pocket carry because innapocket carry allows gunk and lint to get into your gun.
I think pocket carry should be a last resort. I use a 22lr j frame for my comfy summer gun and it's AIWB 95% of the time but can go innapocket if necessary. AIWB allows you to have a much more consistent draw and most importantly you can draw while seated, something that isn't viable with pocket carry. Throw a clipdraw on the j frame to aquire 100% minimalist achievement.
Revolvers print too much for pocket carry, same with 9s. With a .380 in a wallet holster you can make it print square like a fat wallet. I've even been patted down and people just thought it was a wallet.
Regarding lint, I carry a Bodyguard .380 whenever I have to do family shit, dates, or to the gym (kept in dirty gym bag). No joke I shot it once and didn't clean it for 8-10 years. Shot it to scare off some beaner tweaker and it worked, then took it apart to clean it after. There was nothing in the actual action, bone dry and clean. The hammer ingress is the only flaw on the gun, it had a little floof of lint that didn't affect the movement of the hammer. Overall I was shocked at how clean it was and glad it worked. But this was something I carried every night on duty as a security guard for like 4 years, carried whenever my shirt was too tight for waist carry, every time I hung out with the gf, every family event, and every day to the gym in a dirty old bag. You overestimate how much lint is actually able to get into it. If I were to cover the ingress with tape absolutely nothing would get in.
I loved my CT9. "Full size" but easy to carry in my back pocket, fit my hand like a glove.
Comes down to whether or not you like it, because as the other guys said, there's a lot of other options.
I have pic related. it shoots great, andand its as thin as a cell phone with a case. only disadvantage is no extended magazine and its discontinued.
kahrs suck ass
>.380 pistol
get a bersa thunder plus or glock 28 if you want double stack .380. the glock 28 is kinda cool actually
Based thunder poster. Though their not any smaller than a compact. But I love mine
I actually got a bersa thunder plus for my mother for mothers day. She loves it.
It’s so comfy to shoot. Little to no recoil and a slim metal frame.
God it's such a nice gun and hell a guy at the counter suggested a fricking revolver for her. She obviously has bad hands and thanks to her being a bowler her right hand is especially not good. With that over time I felt I should've gotten her a shield ez but she tells me she loves it and can rack the slide easily and slap a mag in as well.
>revolver for women and first time shooters
The absolute worst advice. Give people known for week hands the snappiest gun ever made
>Why aren't Kahr pistols more popular?
IDK but the LEO only display case at my LGS is full of them.
Can their possibly be a cop market for these things?
They're approved as backups for some departments. Glock was very late to the game making single stacks so for at least a decade Kahr filled that market.
I briefly had a Kahr CM9. The slide would smash into the locking ribs on barrel and was slowly peening the front rib over. Kinda ruined my interest in Kahr guns.
My Keltec P3AT got traded in for a non-laser bodyguard. I wanted something with usable sights.
The only thing I don't like about the bodyguard is there's a double click in the trigger reset that sometimes lets you short stroke the trigger.
>Why aren't Kahr pistols more popular?
Glocks are the exact same thing but have a much larger aftermarket available
>Do they have some flaw that I won't see until after I buy?
Some of them are a little unreliable and unfinished straight out of the box. Nothing you can't fix yourself with some sandpaper, but this is why they're cheaper than Glocks
I have a CM9. I like it, but someday I will replace it with a Glock
what others did you should. Id recommend
>glock 42
>sig p238
>sig p232
>ruger lcp
>ppk
In that order. You could also get real fancy and find a beretta 84 or 85
