Doesn't this have something to do with the Czechs having rather unique gun laws by Euro-standards, so these things don't require paperwork to own?

      Anonymous

Yeah, Czechs can own and carry normal guns but need a license, these need no license to own and carry.

        >these need no license to own and carry.
Im not so sure - you can own a black powder gun without any license, only ID, but it has to be a copy of gun made before 1885.

I think it's up to state law. I remember some felooner getting nabbed for hunting with a modern BP rifle in Florida.

Yes, this is what war fighters and law enforcement have been missing, a two shot black powder pistol.

Kind of unrelated, but I've been wanting a modern style semi auto black powder rifle. I just think black powder mixed with modern aesthetics is neat.

you get maybe 10 shots before you end up with a bolt action

Maybe make it a .75 cal semi auto stopping rifle, you would only need 5 or 6 shots max for what ever you have to stop. After 1 or 2 mags you could strip it for cleaning.

It's overpriced shit designed to part lazy and/or moronic fricks with their money.
If you aren't a lazy moron, you can get a CCW permit, a Makarov and around 250 rounds of 9x18 for the price of this dumb toy.

Fellow Czech here... It's maddening how expensive all ammo that's not 9x19 is. I don't want to use a meme caliber, sadly.

        Anonymous

9x18 is like what, 25-30% more expensive than 9x19 right now?
I was just posting that as an example of a cheap carry gun, getting a secondhand Glock or CZ75 is basically gonna cost the same, without the ammo.

Everything but 9x19 is so expensive... I always wanted a revolver but 38spec is so expensive. And I don't know whether moonclipping 9mm revolvers are a meme or not.

            9mm revolvers are fine.
you won't get the feel of shoving those long boys into the chamber one by one, but neither will the classic revolver user get the feel of dumping a whole bunch of rounds into the cylinder at once so I'd say it's a wash.

any recommendations for a carry 9mm 'volver?

            Anonymous

if you're going to shoot 9x19 just get a CZ
if you're going to shoot a revolver get .357 magnum

what's wrong with 9mm revolvers though? Cheaper ammo, kino moonclips

                Anonymous

You have literally no way to load the gun without moon clips. And unlike magazines, moon clips are incredibly easy to lose or damage.
You know what else can use "kino moonclips"? Many .357 magnum revolvers. Except they can also be loaded with individual cartridges or with a speedloaded so you're not reliant on the moonclips.

357 costs twice as much lad

                Anonymous

revolvers are swag but they lose 100% of their swag if you chamber them in non-cool cartridges like 9x19

you also shoot less than half as much of it in a typical range session
start reloading if you want to shoot revolvers, otherwise buy a CZ-75B or a P-07 or whatever

I looked into reloading but the gear looks expensive, I'd have to shoot a mad amount to make that money back, no?

                Anonymous

it's not about making money it's about making the funny fireballs
also the only thing you really need is a way to clean cases, a very simple press, a precise scale, the actual dies, and like...
a primer thing that puts primers into cases? I wouldn't do that by hand

                Anonymous

Ok? Spend twice as much on ammo (maybe less, not sure what 38spl pricing is like for you) or stick with an autoloader to have your cheap ammo and a gun that you can actually reliably fricking load without relying on a flimsy disc. Moonclips are a borderline disposable part that should be looked at as a more carry friendly alternative to speedloaders, not something necessary for the gun to function. They're too easy to damage and any damage renders a gun that relies on them with no other loading option entirely useless.

I looked into reloading but the gear looks expensive, I'd have to shoot a mad amount to make that money back, no?

A hand press costs almost nothing.

Hm you're right, the presses are fairly cheap... Do you reload your ammo? One important thing, how many times can you really reload a casing before it's unusable?

                it depends on the case
low pressure revolver cartridges can be used basically indefinitely
high pressure revolver cartridges might actually have a lifespan you can reach
and the gun you're shooting make a big difference as well, you will never reuse anything that comes out of an HK G3 for example

That's neat. Reloaded 38 special might end up cheaper than brand new 9mm in that case (over the long run ofc)

if you can get a pile of dirt cheap primers and powder and then cast your own bullets, yes

This is neat. It's not a breechloader, that's a godddamn muzzle loader! And you just put a snap cap in the breech. Shame it's so expensive, I'll rather own yet another glock, but still a nice toy.
