Oh don't worry we have a solution in the pipes, in order to reduce knee and back damage acquired during service we here at the DoD will just shatter your kneecaps and spine with a hammer as soon as you enlist

Real solution is making it expensive as frick to the gov and therefore forcing them to deal with it. Solutions always exist but will to implement them doesn'

the solution is stop enlisting without being in good shape

it's not the welfare/free college line

      >>the solution is stop enlisting without being in good shape
if the state requires fitness why not invest in fitness? oh right because the state is also paranoid of fit paramilitaries and militias since the late 80's so it's better to brainwash the out of shape enlistees and then ditch them when they turn to drugs and alcohol after the contract ends..

No, the solution is to enlist into a good pog job and getting actual useful skills while at the same time not destroying your back

lmao as if "we'll help you pay for college" isn't one of the primary recruitment points the US military makes

They make you carry so much weight you're destroying your body like an obese person would. Shape has little to do with compression in the spine.

In my opinion it's a leadership problem, based on low risk tolerance that we've developed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unable to accept the short term risk of not bringing more bullshit, and no real mountain experience. the locals told us when we went up the mountain with large packs and armor - "this is your pack...? - you will die"

Think about the problem / reaction in these obviously cherry picked cases:
IED - develop million dollar vehicles that are mine resistant
Ambush - make mine resistant vehicles ambush proof with remote turrets
Roll over / water - install breathing apparatus to escape the vehicle
Small arms - wrap the Troops in more armor
No comms - they might do something that I don't explicitly approve, make them carry 4 methods of communication with hhq

All of these attempt to deal with risk by buying more stuff our troops will carry. This breaks knees and backs.
A standard infantry kit is the weight of a through hiker's heaviest pack ever and it includes no sustenance or warmth.

How is making a vehicle more survivable relate to soldiers blowing out their knees and backs?

Why are there still sand Black folk alive, we should of just nuked the middle east into oblivion. If there is limited resources why not decrease the population of the world by killing all them goat frickers, all they are good for is making heroin and fricking animals which neither is a skill, so kill of all the sand eating useless half Black person looking animal frickers

The solution is gear made to be light, durable and effective rather than cheap.

    T. Hiked more than a thousand miles straight in the desert and mountains of California and have no issues.

I get that I need less stuff than a soldier for hiking but compare the weight of anything "military" to the weight of stuff made for backpacking that isn't Walmart tier. Basically you can have 3/4 of light, cheap, effective, durable

WTF are they supposed to do about it? People who do physical labor hurt their backs and knees. That's just how it goes.

I don't think you understand, the 120lbs of battle rattle is producing career ending training casualties. The military will also deny there's a problem and leave you stuck without benefits in this case but that's a different issue.
The human body can just not physically tolerate humping such heavy ass loads over extended distances for very long, and most sub-30 year olds in heavy labor don't have completely shattered and fragmented knees.
.mil either needs to go ULW, saddle less gear on troops, or start operating exclusively in/around vehicles.

Man, it's bad. I've been doing DoD contracting for quite some time now at a major Army command, and the past I'd say 5, but definitely 2, years have been some of the most cucked bullshit I've ever seen
      >the whole clotshot debacle
      >constant MUH DIVERSITY MUH WOMYN bullshit
      >constant mandatory MUH DOMESTIC EXTREMISM training
      >mandatory seminars on diversity and bixnood
      >mandatory literal troony training events
      >all newer servicemembers are stick-limbed zoomers in their size XS uniforms
My favorite so far is the troony trainings, because the email to the distro list has "This training is MANDATORY FOR ALL PERSONNEL" ominously bolded and underlined

Quads far better than jeepshit already exist. So do ROVs. They don't fit everywhere and like all vehicles are severely limited.

most people get hurt because they're fat and out of shape, not because they're rucking carrying 70lbs
to address the problem they need to purge the ranks of fats and raise entry standards but that will never happen so here we are

don't worry lads, soon we'll all have personal autonomous drones to carry our packs
all that's left for the soldier is 80 kilos of batteries in his own bergen 🙂
