Well yeah, I killed that many because... because I didn't use a scope, simple as, case closed, oh yeah and 200 using my SMG yeah, same deal, oh yeah and don't forget the snow in mouth!

Westoids once again underestimate the sheer willpower of r*ssian neighbors when it comes to killing r*ssians.

A midget in all white in blindingly white familiar terrain, who is also a great shot slaughtering the USSR post Stalins purge while the opponet have a bunch of mobiks wearing dark green uniforms (eventually they possibly made improvised camo). For months. Possibly he shot hundreds . remember the russkies eventually the russians nailed him in the face.

ah yes the reliable and trustworthy red army

Communist accounts of "heroes" are unreliable by definition and 95% total bullshit. Communism as a concept is incompatible with individual bravery and valor by inherent design. Communists do not have heroes. They have tools. Some are more useful than others, but in the end, all are discarded. Don't believe me? Look at what they did to the samovar people who returned crippled from WW2.

The average communist "hero" is usually just a particularly skilled executioner.

It's a joke guys. Dude is known as the most prolific executioner in history, having killed several thousand Poles who had actually fought the Nazis to strike a blow at any hope of post-war Polish nationalism so that they could put it back into the empire.

Soviet and German snipers had some access to explosive rounds. PZ Soviet ammo and B-patrone for the Germans. Not sure how common it was.

His record is almost certainly fabricated. He had no spotter and the source for his kill count is the company chaplain. He probably shot at the same guy numerious times but missed and thought he had killed hundreds.

There's a couple of Finnish army docs, and the Russians' own accounts. It's not particularly difficult to believe that someone well-hidden could drop one or two per day when the enemy is incapable of coming up with something more cunning than "mass infantry go that way."

A machinegunner can kill a squad or platoon in the open in a few short bursts. The more combat experiences you have the more these numbers add up.

A Ukrainian drone operators who got a kill every other day would have more than 250 kills in the special military operation. And these guys are launching several sorties a day and potentially could be killing ten or more vatmorons every day.

Sniper is more difficult because you're personally exposed, but he was shooting incompetent russians in Karelia. Nobody ever talks about artillery crew killcounts.

Honestly one of the biggest pieces of evidence is the fact this guy was still winning like hundreds of competitions post-war. You could literally walk up to a finnish shooting match and see Simo nail his shots. This is not a case of "Comrade Pussykovka Thotovkavich sniped five billion nazis yesterday, trust me comrade woman go pew pew" where she was completely unable to hit the target at a spontaneous demonstration in the US, Simo proved his skills hundreds of time. Combine his obvious skill with the finn rifles great sights, his good sniper tactics and the russians lack of training, camouflage and decent tactics and his number is completely realistic. The fact alone that the russians themselves put out a huge bounty also kinda hints at his skills

For a man who was able to shoot and hit 16 targets at about 150 meters in a minute using a bolt-action rifle before the war, he certainly kept to his advice on how to become a good shooter: practise.

Shame that his own M/28-30 rifle was lost the day he was shot in the face. This Swedish trophy rifle is in some museum but Häyhä never used it?

"Tein sen, mitä käskettiin, niin hyvin kuin osasin. Ei Suomea olisi, elleivät kaikki olisi tehneet samal viisii."

I think it is quite belivable considering the situation on the front he was in, and sheer amount of Russian casualties in general.
Also he was known to be a humble man who didn’t like to talk about his achievements. His own description of the events was only found after his death, as he has written a diary, in which he had talked about his ”500 sins”.

Hilarious how mad his mere existence makes slavoids and they'll whine that REEEEE fake numbers

All the while being proud of how many millions of them died senselessly because they sucked at war. Like "yeah we lost more people invading Finland than even lived in Finland, so what? No they didn't kill any we just all starved to death and shot eachother, Finnish kill counts are all fake" and think that's some epic own.

Not a slav or any flavor of boo, but his numbers were definitely inflated for propaganda.
That Russian sniper chick, Lyudmilla something or other? Also inflated.
Everyone on every side had inflated numbers. Snipers. Fighter pilots. Tank commanders. Everyone.

Ok but can you prove it with any kind of plausibility?
Because his numbers were absolutely achievable during the winter war.

The life of a Russian is worth very little. Killcounts in the hundreds are worth the same as killing some tens of human beings, ie. not at all unrealistic.

Pic related, helmets extracted from the limitless natural resource that are Russian corpses.

        Anonymous

To be fair the Winter War was the typical Russian tactic of mindlessly zerg rushing forwards at its absolute worst, nevermind the fact that IIRC they didn’t even have anything to properly blend into the environment. In those instances Simo absolutely could have achieved hundreds of kills with his rifle and smg since it was basically an irl tower defense thing.

Reminder: Häyhä's official count was started only after his lieutenant noticed his high daily tally. That was when a designated helper/spotter private Varis started to count the kills.

    >Source: Woman's unwomanly face and Roza Shannina's diary

The female Russian sniper is not a meme. Since commanders did not want to send women at the front, even though they insisted, so they sent them to an actual sniper school. Men if they shot "well" were given a mosin with an optic and off you go "sniper comrade". Women got a lot more training before going to the front, so they were better at camouflage, field craft and marksmanship. The numbers were probably inflated, but they still slotted quite a few Germans.
