No. Top attack ATGMs like the NLAW and Javelin use a tandem charge. Best case scenario is that this defeats the first charge.
Also ERA only works when attached to thick tank armour to reflect the explosion outwards. That's why you don't see it installed on APCs, IFVs or light vehicles. Installing it on the cope cage is like mounting a land mine above the heads of the crew.
>you don't see it installed on APCs, IFVs or light vehicles
Russians have been slapping ERA bricks on Tigrs and even on trucks and vans.
Also, even the Bradley has ERA as an option (for the upper glacis and sides).
>Russians have been slapping ERA bricks on Tigrs and even on trucks and vans.
First, that doesn’t mean they are right. Second, there’s a good chance those are empty blocks
I wonder how much ERA effectiveness is reduced from being placed on a grille like this. Intuitively I'd say the flier plate velocity is reduced because a lot of the explosive pressure is lost out the back

>Another key point to note about ERA is how the blast from the ERA explosion can potentially injure the vehicle’s occupants. Therefore, ERA cannot be mounted on vehicles whose hulls are made of softer materials such as aluminum, which cannot withstand the impact of a blast. A way to get around such a problem would be to mount an additional layer of steel over the aluminum hull prior to mounting the ERA. The Bradley IFV is an example of a vehicle that employs such a technique, with about an inch of steel between the ERA and hull.
Guy on the picture is just going to amplify the damaging effects.

It should work at least once. It might even work against artillery-launched smart HEAT rounds if they target that specific spot.
It will not work against large tandem-charge warheads such as those find on most top-attack munitions.
It will not work against old-school AT weapons such as the vast majority of what Ukraine has, because those will not attack from the top.
It will work against drone drops, but it will be a waste of effort and they can always target the engine block instead.
if it's sturdy enough to actually hold the explosive power of the ERA. yeah.
but i have a feeling that in the best case scenario it will break if hit once, potentially trapping the crew inside

soviet tanks almost always have ERA on the roof so it can defeat tandem charge munitions potentially
and it might be strong enough to hold it for at least one hit

Cope.
You've never been to war. You're just basemnet dwellers.

I mean, it might help against small arms a bit (for the first hit at least, leakage is an issue there) if you're one of the retards sticking them on vans and trucks, but it's far easier and more weight efficient to just weld on some sheet metal or whatever.
If you have a 30mm RHA plate protecting you, how far away does it have to be from the secondary charge of a Javelin to protect you? That is, how many mm does the metal jet penetrate after traveling, say, 10 meters?
Penetration is about halved after some 20 charge diameters of standoff (assuming that the fuzed standoff is 2 charge diameters), 10 meters is ~75 charge diameters for a Javelin, so I'd imagine the jet is completely dispersed by then.

NLAW has a single warhead, but it's an EFP instead of HEAT, basically a fast slug instead of a jet
Why do they bother with cope cages instead of ADS which they should have? I mean the Armata has them, so they could just retrofit it to older tanks or something
Is that a grand piano?
Stalin's organ.
Its evolving.
I HATE ERA
I HATE ERA
I HATE ERA
THE ERA IS IN MY WALLS
THE ERA IS IN MY FOOD
THE ERA IS IN MY WIFE
BABYLON CONSUMES BABYLON CONSUMES BABYLON
c..could this actually work?
Tune in next time to find out: No.
>Tune in
I appreciate this level of dad humor, got a sensible chuckle out of me.

It's the Russian way. Always has been.
>you don't see it installed on APCs, IFVs or light vehicles
Russians have been slapping ERA bricks on Tigrs and even on trucks and vans.
Also, even the Bradley has ERA as an option (for the upper glacis and sides).
I'm almost sure I saw a photo of Bukhanka with ERA.
yes, there's been pics of those as well. At least whichever poor bastards got hit by drone grenades driving those went quick.
>went quick
Not really.
He put the bricks in the front instead of the back, so instead of going quick he drove to an abrupt stop.
Gotcha guys
not as funni as when they use anti tank mines as improvised ERA early in the war, and the tank got vapourised by a single drone
>Russians have been slapping ERA bricks on Tigrs and even on trucks and vans.
First, that doesn’t mean they are right. Second, there’s a good chance those are empty blocks

pfft ok nerd

thats going to look lit if the era goes off.
Just how much ERA does Russia have to put it on literally everything?
Plenty, as long as you keep making it out of egg cartons
Will anyone ever beat this guy?
Do ERA blocks have to be "tuned" to where they are installed or something, or are you supposed to just put it wherever takes your fancy?
Most ERA blocks made since cold war are slap on, I think.

meme is back to front but it's good shit
DNR POSTAL SERVICE!
ALALALALA
God what a buggy game
Is NLAW a tandem?
Two ERA blocks wouldn't stop it though.
The NLAW does not use a tandem charge.
>tandem charge
Name a singular reason a tandem ERA cope-cage wouldn't fix it?
Checkmate, HATO trannies
damm
all this needs is for the guy to be doing the taweed and a nasheed playing
ERA is mounted on APCs and IFVs that have strong enough armor actually.
It should work at least once. It might even work against artillery-launched smart HEAT rounds if they target that specific spot.

drone light heat nades dropped straight down maybe but they simply wont attack it that way if they will see that dumb shit on top of it

What is this to protect against exactly? And why would only the turret be targeted?
Cope cages evolved into cope walls.
No I have seen it before.
Cope.

How much ERA does a tank need to be considered a VBIED?
I would consider a slavshit tank a VBIED even without ERA
US secured ancient ERA its much more powerful than cheap soviet copy.
that thing is 4000 years old
thank god isis didn't get to it
it's all a facade constructed in the 1960s
the real parts underneath wouldn't be hurt by isis
Anon, it was rebuilt by Hussein.
Before his reconstructions, the place was just a big earth mound.
It's not a graven image.
what is this? Cope era?
The Era of Cope.
The Age of Men is over. The Era of the Cope has come.
Cope Concert
And what will protect the cage then?
>you're not gonna believe it
Makes No Difference.
>Russia has more ERA than small arms ammunition
i suspect the cope eras are just boxes of bricks
Aren't many of those proven to be empty plastic or aluminum casing?
or worse, with egg tray stuffings
Would filling the ERA blocks with water do anything?
Weigh you down, mostly.
Explosive force transmits through water better than it does through air.
Thanks, I did think it would be retarded
I mean, it might help against small arms a bit (for the first hit at least, leakage is an issue there) if you're one of the retards sticking them on vans and trucks, but it's far easier and more weight efficient to just weld on some sheet metal or whatever.
they should fill them with air then
It'd provide the mobliks riding on your tank with an easily accessible source of hydration
is that actually fucking ERA on the top of a cope cage
>M*A*S*H* reaction
A surprise, but a welcome one
<< You're not going to believe this, Jeanne-Louise. They all have ERA,s >>

Interesting. Thanks anon

it looks like neuronet art
MY FUCKING SIDES
>ERA detonated
>cope cage collapses onto turret
>crew now trapped inside
okay
more than a year of this war, yet I don't think anyone on PrepHole ever came up with this. Impressive.
>this flesh sickens me
>brick me up bros
>immortality
>"For the love of God, Montresor!"
>ERA on a cope cage
Now I've seen everything.
It's clearly against drone dropped mines stupid hohols
God I love this war. It's like a parody game from 2006.
>God I love this war.
I'm still having fun even if she's not
god she's so hot
She’s a miner anon. Plus she underaged.
>miner
she's older by me now
>miner
damn she plays minecraft???
love the warfare, hate the war
doesn't make sense? yeah well, whatever
Me too.
Cope cage v2 now come with 2 USB recharging bay.
