Yep had one of them shits too.
Crushed unfired cartridges, raped the ones it did decide to chamber/fire, had a funky issue where it wouldnt chamber the first round, probably the mag
I had that bolt issue once and found some YouTube video out there with a good explanation of how to put it back together. Are you using and kind of hollowpoint or especially and kind of polymer tip rounds? They never work for me.
No, I was using winchester white box fmj and red army standard fmj. Its a lemon POS.
Use a rag. I can't reassemble mine without using an old oily rag to twist the bolt. My fingers can't do it alone.
I've tried a rag, tried a wrench with a rag covering the bolt, and watched several videos. I dicked with it for about 5 hours a few days ago and haven't touched it since in frustration. I think once I do get it back together I'm gonna go sell it back to the gunshop I got it from.
the only gun i ever sold was one i parted out because the hook on the back of the frame that held the recoil spring and the slide sheared off, causing the slide to fly nicely behind me.
it was some 25acp pimp gun from germany i bought for $20 something. as i was shooting it i had this eerie feeling i should stop looking down the iron sights. 3 bullets later it failed.
I'm sad to hear that, I love it a lot. Either sandpaprr the trigger insides if you're a knower or pump about 300 rounds through it and it cleans up beautifully. I'm sorry you disliked it as I love mine immensely and I'm really happy it exists since it's everything I ever wanted. CSX love
JGSales. Love my Star but pick up a pack of EGW links; you never know when you'll have my luck and for under $20 shipped you'll have 2 of them just in case. Only tools needed to fit it is a flat surface, some very fine sandpaper (600 grit minimum), and a dowel to put a sandpaper strip on to enlarge any undersized pin holes (though a power drill is nice for that). That and a punch and properly mounted vice to remove the pin from the barrel.
My first shotgun was some modern stevens shotgun that sucked ass. It hurt to shoot and just wasn't fun. Got rid of it and later bought a winchester magnum whatever (too lazy to get it to check sorry). I shot slugs since Im not driving 2-3 hours to some range that can actually allow me to shoot buckshot. Anyway, it shot great and felt comfortable to shoot. Now it still hurt my shoulder a bit but not as much as the stevens.
The only time I've been actually angry at a gun's quality was a Ruger American that had a missing spring. It shouldn't have left the factory like that, the gun store shouldn't have sold it like that, and I should have function tested it before paying money for it. But most of all it shouldn't have left the factory like that. It was repaired under warranty but I'm angry to this day.
Marlin Model 60. I have owned three manufactured over more than forty fricking years of production and EVERY SINGLE ONE was a piece of shit through and through. Picky about ammo, awful ergonomics, heavy, miserable to clean, worse to repair, inaccurate and the most god-awful irons on any factory weapon I have ever owned. I had an AR-7 that was better than all three of them put together and it looked and functioned like plumbing supplies tack-welded together and then hosed down with bed liner.
I thought it was pretty piss easy to disassemble however that shit never wanted to get completely clean
to add however is how easily it gunks up
every 200 rounds it turns into a single shot
>I thought it was pretty piss easy to disassemble however that shit never wanted to get completely clean
Yeah, the parts that come out aren't bad but there are many that don't and it's the repair that's the issue. Fricking plastic everywhere.
>to add however is how easily it gunks up >every 200 rounds it turns into a single shot
Yep.
https://i.imgur.com/ibYBMS3.jpg
why did you continue to buy more of them after the first one was shit?
>why did you continue to buy more of them after the first one was shit?
I didn't buy any of them; two came to my dad (and later me) in lieu of cash for money owed and the third was a gift.
>Picky about ammo
this is the one thing i do agree with you on, but everything else i didnt experience, maybe i just got lucky
It seems like it's a binary; some people have no problems with them and consider them a great buy and other people have had my experience with very little room in between.
>It seems like it's a binary
true. Mine eats anything and makes a single ragged hole in paper. Gets dirty as frick inside but keeps going like the fricking Energizer bunny. 1k was pushing it some but a douch of clp was enough to finish off the range trip before finally stop being a lazy shit and clean it when I got home
>Picky about ammo, awful ergonomics, heavy, miserable to clean, worse to repair, inaccurate and the most god-awful irons on any factory weapon I have ever owned
The sights were shit but I got my second one for $50 because it didn't work right. Took it apart, which was super easy and cleaned out literal pine needles, insect carcasses and mystery gunk and it ran fine. Don't recall having any issues with reliability or accuracy with either and sure as frick remember them being heavy. Especially compared to a 39A which may as well be a 1895 barrel blank cut for .22lr
We have some piece of shit marlin 60 floating around our family I've shot a few times. It's rarely cleaned, and gummed up like crazy. After shooting it for a little bit it frees itself up and runs like a dream. It likes the cheap .22
Marlins are weird guns.
I have my dad's Glenfield Marlin model 60 from 1972ish. When I got it it was in pretty rough shape, had to replace the tube mag, feed lips and recoil spring. It runs beautifully now, I just wish the original finish had survived being stored in a damp place for 20 years.
In general though, in my experience the older ones are good except the chinesium potmetal feed lips wear out and it won't feed anything properly.
I sort of agree. They do tend to be accurate, but that's where it stops. I wouldn't pay over $100 for one before china virus. I fricking hate putting the recoil spring in because it is so easy to kink the spring installing the bolt. Also frick muzzle-end magazine tube loading.
The magazine fed 795 is shitty too because of the retention system with most of same hangups. If you buy a Marlin .22, make it a 39A.
No, I never buy the budget option. If I had to pick one it would be my Sako 85, it does not feed 100% reliably with certain types of hunting ammo. Would like to trade it for some new gucci m98 system like a Johannsen or a Heym SR 21.
Sure do.
I’ve got a Savage 64 Takedown.
It’s hilariously unreliable, the charging handle is harder to finger than a fat chick’s butthole, the magazine release has to be intentionally bad, there’s nowhere comfortable to put your support hand, and the proprietary 10 round magazines slice your fingers apart, wear out way too fast, and have literally no aftermarket alternative.
I don’t get rid of it because it was my first gun, and it has sentimental value.
The first one I got was a warrior, made around 2013 I think? It was very ammo sensitive, plenty accurate, and it had a great trigger, but I never got over the reliability, when the extractor started giving up the ghost I decided it was time for a change. The second one was a TLE/RL II, it was used, and I found out pretty quickly that whoever sold it was passing on the problem to the next guy, several experiments with Wilson combat parts and not enough improvement for the money I was dumping, I decided to do the same.
If you have one that runs, don't let it go, you may not be able to replace it down the road
Dont have it anymore but very similar to picrel some plebittor built.
It was a shitty blowback 9mm AR. >heavier than a carbine length 5.56 >more recoil than 5.56 carbine or 9mm handgun >weird transfer bar from glockazine catch to bolt stop >glockazines actually suck in this role
Instead I just got good at handguns. A bit slower on shooting but faster on movement and it evens out. And you absolutely can make reliable shots past 50y, don't listen to the muh 3-7y brigade.
Not the guy you're replying to, but it's because it's a straight blowback design. Instead of tapping off the gas to actuate the bolt carrier or using a roller lock system or whatever they just use a really heavy fat bolt carrier to keep the bolt closed long enough for the bullet to leave the barrel and allow for the exploding gasses to leave through the barrel instead of at the bolt face.
I've shot both MP5s and UMPs in full auto, the MP5 being roller delayed was a very controllable bullet hose and the blowback UMP was so recoil crazy it shook my face so much I couldn't even fricking see while I was firing it. It was awful.
Thanks, never shot anything straight blowback thats bigger than a handgun
Seems like a not exactly a good design idea
It's really not. There are radial delayed blowback ones these days. But the question is still why? Do I want to have an expensive 9mm carbine thing? Why not just get a 5.56? Ammo costs the same and you get a massive upgrade in capability.
I have owned four 1911s
One is a Colt I got from my dad, never had a malfunction
Three have been Ruger, Kimber and a semi-custom one from a shop no longer around. They all had issues, even after trips back to manufacturer and then some home gunsmithing. I got them working better, but never perfect.
Clearly I didn't really hate the gun itself cause I keep trying to buy a new 1911 and I don't learn. I hate wasting my money though. >why buy 1911s if you have a perfectly good Colt?
Cause it's an A1 style so it doesn't have cool modern features I want but frick it's a work horse. My dad used to use it for cowboy shooting so he had dumped probably well over 10,000 rounds through it before I inherited it
Had a 357 Rossi, that was dog shit. Barely lasted 100 rounds before it got out of time, gave it away to a friend who wanted to try and fix it (he didn't)
Sold a WASR a long time ago after finding out the trunnion was skewed so the whole barrel was off
I feel like there were more but I can't think right now...
Guns I bought, shot and was disappointed in: Security Six, Makarov, TriStar's version of a Jericho, probably more
>9mm carbine thing? Why not just get a 5.56? Ammo costs the same
Either you're buying cheap 5.56 or expensive 9mm
In any case 9mm carbines make sense in a practical matter for home defense. They're also just fun plinkers

im not much of stickler for gun aesthetics but something about small magazines on carbines and rifles always puts me off.
the gun wasnt designed around the magazine and the whole thing feels like an afterthought you know
If something is really really shitty, but it’s at least cool, I’ll give it a pass. I had a Vulcan Arms V-18, which was like 4 different guns pieced into something that resembled an AR180. It was objectively a piece of garbage, but I got it for so cheap and it was so unique it got a pass from me. The only gun I’ve ever sold for being just absolute dogshit was one of those GSG 9mm MP40 clones.
Kahr pocket pistol. Expensive mags. Failed to feed hollow points. Company is unresponsive and sent the wrong parts. I need to get rid of it but would like to get another deep concealment gun first.
In our shop we get lots of Desert Eagles with all kinds of malfunction s. Mostly we end up fixing them, they break again and then the owners decide to just sell them. They were really cheap second hand around here because of that reason. People just buy them because they look cool. Also I saw one fly apart on a range
I got rid of a 1st gen S&W 40VE back in the late 90's because it started going full auto on me right out of the box, (sounds fun, but it isn't). I also had an EAA CZ clone I bought when I was young and broke that would not cycle reliably at all and a Springfield 1911 aluminum frame that cracked at about 1500 rounds.
Makarov > Years ago > bought two from RSR Wholesale in AZ for $95 each > figured, one would be good, right? > pistols arrive > stripped each one, side by side > shitty machining, tool marks everywhere, completely unlike any western pistol I'd seen > bonus cosmoline! > clean, lube with Tetra > reassemble > DA pull on both was awful > SA pull on one wasn't bad > one would regularly fail to feed from all the Mak mags I had > sold the fail to feed pistol for $125 cash money > remaining Mak was heavy for its size and had an awful trigger > and the "target sights" RSR put on to meet GCA '68 import points were awful > it came with the original Bakelite (?) grips and these awful Hogue-like grips > the Hogue grips felt gooey, just awful > sold remaining Mak a few months later
I never understood all the hype over the Makarov, other than it was cheap, russian, and cheap.
Yeah, the 9x18 caliber is ok in some countries that have a "no military calibers" law.
I *think* Mexico is like that. 9x19 is bad because military, 9x18 is ok, because reasons.
Usually those laws are for domestic military use so a non military force can't use military ammunition they stole.
Which is stupid because if you can get stolen military ammunition but not guns you fricked up.
>Yeah, the 9x18 caliber is ok in some countries that have a "no military calibers" law. >I *think* Mexico is like that. 9x19 is bad because military, 9x18 is ok, because reasons.
IIRC a lot of the "no military laws" anon are actually yet another example of issues caused by massive corruption. Mandating different civilian and military calibers was a (not entirely futile at one point before global markets) effort to reduce ammo going from depots/bases to sold for cash under the table. As well as reducing demand makes it easier to detect/prosecute, no need for special markings or any arguments about legit surplus or whatever, if civvies can't have whatever the domestic military has that's black and white.
Of course better would be to just not be a corrupt shithole but many such cases.
Sold my ol'reliable PT92, there was nothing wrong with it but in the back of my head it always screamed "poorgay Beretta cope" when I looked at it. Now I miss it, it was my first gun.
Hey man, I liked mine a lot too, but it's not 1996 anymore and that factory and tooling are pretty fricking old and how many of those Beretta trained employees do you think are still around? Hell what's the last time you say a 92/99/101 in decent shape or for sale at all? I've only seen one newish one and it was kinda rough
1970's Walther PPk/s in .380 and it's an absolute jam-o-matic. I ended up replacing all internal springs with new Wolf springs and I had to find factory original mags to make it somewhat reliable. And after all that, the motherfricker still bites the web of your hand because Walther thought right angles on a fricking backstrap were a fine idea. If it wasn't a family heirloom it would be gone.
Glock 48. I was hoping it would be as good as everyone says it would be but it wound up jamming 3 times in a short time frame around the 1000 round mark so I immediately stopped carrying it. For reference I was using S15 Gen 2 mags and the G48 was one of the black slide models, not the older silver slide. Meanwhile I have an older Springfield XD-m Compact with 10,000+ rounds through it that has not once jammed, stovepiped, failed to feed, etc.
I've considered selling the G48 for awhile but haven't gone through with it. It's been sitting in my safe for almost a year now since I last shot it. Part of me thinks I'm better off keeping it. Might give it to my younger brother if he wants it.
>Glock 48 >Why not use factory mags?
The Shield arms is metal and you get a full 15 rounds in the mag, flush fit, compared with the G48's stock 10-round capacity.
My Remington 870 Police Magnum. I only bought it because a crackhead that lived next to me approached and threatened me the morning before I went to the gunstore. >Gun store had misleading marketing, saying that's it ammo capacity was five rounds, when in reality it was 4+1 instead of 5 in the tube. >Rickety as frick, feels as if it'll come apart with a hard sneeze. >Extractor is Remington certified quality, and has chewed the shit out of my snap caps and ammo alike.
Frick that gun. I'm going to sell it and get a Benelli M4 as soon as I physically can.
>Benelli M4
its a good option, but if youre looking for something budget friendly knock around gun may i recommend a maverick 88? 5+1 and comes in many configurations. its really a poor mans mossberg 500 without some of the niceties like a scope mount
I want an auto shotgun. With me living in a major city and next to rural crackheads in the country I want something that can dish out as much lead down range as quickly as possible.
The M4 is one of the few guns that can accomplish that for me in my region. Plus, with the shipping crisis going on any decent firearm that isn't +$1000 is likely gone at this point.
Get a Mossberg. Benelis are the Cadillac of shotguns. Mossberg is used by Marines and battle tested in Iraq.
I assure you, thats all you need. Shoot for 18" barrel.
The Benelli M4 is also used by Marines and battle tested in Iraq, though. If they dude wants one, has the money, and specifically wants and autoloader, he should get a Benelli M4.
check those digits, also >Remington certified quality

"From the people that brought you the Rem 700 safety, behold the craptacular extractor on our 870, it extracts most of the time."
Every CZ 75 I have ever handled. Sold my compact P-01 steel frame before they started making more and doubled my money. It shot like trash and carried like a boat anchor. Have an israeli non B transitional 75 that was refinished by mach 1. Extraction is weak, I've replaced most of the parts in the slide at this point and it still can't get through a magazine.
I have an aluminum framed P-01 with thousands of rounds of Wolf 9mm through it and have never had any issues. I fired a full case once without cleaning and it still ran like a champ. I'm not a CZ fan boy it's the only one I own but like I said I have never had an issue with it, surprised to hear you had problems like that.
>Every CZ 75 I have ever handled. Sold my compact P-01 steel frame before they started making more and doubled my money. It shot like trash and carried like a boat anchor.
imagine my shock, having begrudgingly cajunized my own alloy frame P-01. that factory trigger is total dogshit and something about the recoil spring is frickered beyond belief. an alloy frame gun SHOULD NOT have recoil comparable to single stack pocket 9 like the PPS or the LCP.

Why do morons like you get so upset when someone hasn't had issues with a particular pistol? My P-01 hasn't given me any problems...you don't have to be a b***h about it.
>Why do morons like you get so upset when someone hasn't had issues with a particular pistol?
In general people don't understand mass manufacturing and how many problems are down to flaws vs design, nor how online reports tend to be biased, so they don't believe anyone could have good ones.
I will say in fairness though that the shipping situation in the US for handguns fricking sucks. So even theoretically awesome warranties in practice can be real expensive. For many local service is possible, but sometimes something has to go back. And for regular normal folks without an FFL we're down to UPS only, who officially insist on 1day air and pickup (yes some people roll the dice on getting around that but it shouldn't be necessary). Not everything can be shipped through an FFL either. Which results in experiences like me, I had to pay around $300 to get a handgun "repaired for free under warranty" due to an obvious manufacturing frickup (they cut the fricking chamber too deep, could drop in a 9mm field gauge and it not merely chambered but was still loose). Gun is perfect now and since it's a fancy one it was worth it but that definitely really stung. I can see a 20 year younger me getting a lot angrier in general about it, though it's really about getting screwed by the law.
>And for regular normal folks without an FFL we're down to UPS only
Didn't they recently announce that they're gonna stop shipping anything gun related? USPS is the only way now.
>Why do morons like you get so upset when someone hasn't had issues with a particular pistol?

>how can people be pissed when somebody tries to convince the uninformed that a product is good when it was disproportionately good reviews that tricked those angry people into buying the bad product in the first place
there were reviews up when I was shopping for a compact hammer fired handgun that said they'd fixed the dry fire problem. I can't speak for the multiple CZ75 anon but in fact, EVERY one of my problems was a design problem, not a byproduct of the mass manufacturing process. the design is so poor that I now disregard ANY positive review on ANY CZ product.
A colt mk4 1911 that I got used.
It is is the one that has that dumb barrel bushing, worn ass blued finish , needed to work on the extractor to get it to run reliably, over priced because of the name , no beavertail so thumb webbing bite… flipped it to next guy during COVID-19
>i thought those were supposed to basically be laser accurate even while running
It is fairly accurate, but I can't get through more than 5 rounds without a cartridge tipping sideways between the bolt and chamber
>objectively hate for being a piece of shit
Nylon 66 > read the hype > at a gun show > stumble across a Nylon 66 > priced right > why not > get it home > clean it > to the range > jam jam jam, fail to feed, fail to extract > frick
Sold it next gun show for a $10 loss.
The extraction is entirely different though. It's much simplified, just extracts out the side like a conventional bullpup would instead of all that complex wizardry the original model had.
I just checked the website and they changed the names for their product line since I last checked a couple of years ago. It used to just be called the MDR and the updated side ejector was called the MDR-X. Now they're all called MDRX with varying designations.
Also suck my dick and balls.

not that other anon but MDRX isn't a rename it's a full new revision, just a different model. Might as well have been called "MDR Gen 2" but of course this being the firearms industry they have to go with XTREEM instead. And they really did fix the hell out of it, I've put thousands of rounds through an MDRX in 308, I love it, great gun now.
That said I've heard they still have QA issues. Early in coof a supplier sent them a bad batch of subspec charging handles they didn't catch so the metal was just snapping in normal use. They recently had to do a big apology video and acknowledge they'd done the classic growing business big frickup of not scaling their QA and CS systems with everything else, still doing everything with manual hacks like they were still only serving hundreds of customers. Not uncommon but still fricking stupid. Hopefully that improves but if I was looking right now I'd wait until next year and see what a gen 3 might bring.

I looked into it a bit further and I think it was called the MDR when it was just a prototype and all the youtubers were getting them and breaking them.
I'm just waiting for them to get it right or for someone else to outdo them. I have no interest in the Tavor or any of it's varients and I already have an AUG to scratch the 5.56x45 bullpup itch, but a .308 shortyboi just seems so cool.

>I looked into it a bit further and I think it was called the MDR when it was just a prototype and all the youtubers were getting them and breaking them.
No, they really did have an actual MDR that went out to general population customers. And it really did have a lot of flaws. They actually ultimately did a fairly massive replacement parts kit that let you upgrade an MDR a lot, massive changes to nearly everything from gas block to completely new polymer/glass material for receiver etc etc. Then they ultimately bundled all that up with further revisions that couldn't be done to the original and that's the MDRX. MDR did have kind of a tortured release runup too.
But the MDR complaints were legit, though the promise was cool too. Kinda like Keltec, some genuinely awesome ideas and efforts, v1.0 QC hasn't, uh, always been perfect. Though they too do tend to rev and polish well. >I'm just waiting for them to get it right or for someone else to outdo them.
I think they've gotten it pretty right at this point, lemons aside. You can verified do sub-moa groups in 308, there is some aftermarket barrels and such now even. But there stuff that could be even better and it's been years so next year will be interesting. >but a .308 shortyboi just seems so cool.
Yeah it's a genuinely fun combo, pairs awesome with a suppressor as well. Though I'm pretty interested in imagining an 8.6bo Micron setup too if that caliber ends up not being a meme.

You're really, really bad at looking into things bud.
I love bad guns that don't work.
Just bought a fake PPK off of Gunbroker. It's stamped "WAFFEN WEST GERMANY" on the slide but it's made in fricking Eibar. It'll either be a great little gun or a complete piece of shit.
Yea my S&W 637 Airweight, Walther PK380, and my PTR 91.
>647 Airweight
Grip is terrible and just tolerable since I got new Hogue grips for it that actually allow for three fingers to fit on instead of the stock grips where my pinky basically sits under the grip. The aluminum frame does frick all to help in recoil management and the ballistics tests I did show that the 2'' inch barrel is garbage for .38 spl loads except for maybe the Federal JHPs that are made specifically for snubbies but those are expensive as frick so a no go for range practice. Only pros are that it's small and easy to clean. >Walther PK380
This one sorta gets a pass since it was my first pistol and it was only $300. Horrible trigger and NO FRICKING SLIDE LOCK WTF?!! >PTR 91
Spent $1270 with tax for what I was told was a top notch BR. It's the long barrel model. Took it to the range to find out that this "precision target rifle" couldn't hit the broadest side of a Texas barn. Sights were not zeroed properly at the factory. Was shooting at man size targets at teh 50yrd line at the range (We use the stands that are like 6ft above the ground) and the the rounds were hitting the BURM ON THE GROUND BELOW. Windage was like a foot off to the right as well. Then I learned that the muzzle brake will give you tinnitus if you don't wear ear plugs + ear muffs. Then I learned the the recoil is basically like getting kicked by a mule and that both my Mosin and Gewehr 98 have less felt recoil. Then I learned that HK is israeli as frick and all parts for the gun are basically proprietary and have to be bought from them. Sights can't be adjusted without a special tool that was like $50 bucks. Had to change the but pad from the standard shoulder killer to a wider pad from an HK21 Machinegun. Barely any difference in felt recoil. Then I learned that if you install a scope on it you can't get a proper cheek weld or use the iron sights and if you install a cheek riser then your cant use the iron sights.
Furthermore, the only things that actually reduced recoil were changing from a standard 45 degree locking piece to a 35 degree locking piece which was like $100 along with a heavy buffer assembly which was $130. But the biggest fricking flaw of the PTR91 is the trigger. That worst trigger EVER put onto a rifle. It's basically like trying to drag a baby grand piano across shag carpet with the break being like snapping one of the legs off.
I wanted to get the spuhr stock but you can't use irons with it installed. I instead went with a Tourbon cheek riser that can be quickly removed if the optic shits the bed.
Ah and here comes the moron who can't accept a shit rifle for a shit rifle. G3's are hand down the worst BR outside of reliability. The fact that my 8mm Mauser made in the 1920's and my Mosin can outshoot and out run my PTR91 is a joke. My M1A and my M1 Garand are better options. Also, however came up with the idea of an aluminum framed snubby needs to be put in front of a firing squad. There's a reason why hardly any militaries around the world are still using the G3. Forget the sights being grossly out of line from the factory, the fact you need a proprietary tool to adjust them is laughable. Yea, it looks cool and it's more reliable than an AK but holy frick did they drop the ball in terms ergonomics and recoil management. The only people who seem to sing the G3s praises are Europoors who served in the Bundeswehr and never fired anything else in their life.
There are several other people in this thread also saying that G3's suck ass. You're the only one saying it isn't shitty.
It's a fundamentally crappy design.
>Every .380 pistol I’ve ever touched.
Dad bought a Bryco .380 that fired maybe once a magazine. He tried to pawn it off once and the guy at the counter took a look at it and laughed.
My piece of shit brother convinced him to buy a Taurus Curve and now I’ve inherited it. You’re better off throwing it at the target than trying to get it to shoot.
Yep, I hated my ISSC MK22 (basically a shitty .22lr SCAR clone) because it was stupid picky with ammo and a b***h to take apart and clean, and my Keltec RFB because it would never cycle reliably regardless of which of the 500 gas regulator settings it was on. It would just chew the cases into a literal square shape and jam. Frick I hated those guns
Just got a PTR 91, and while it does chew brass it was zeroed properly at the factory so at least there’s that lol. If the BCG is that big of a b***h I’ll just buy a new one at $150, frick it, might as well buy a few.
Most of my guns are on the budget end of the spectrum and most have been just fine after 3k plus rounds with a particular shout out to my M&P 15 which has never had a single malfunction. Most issues with my cheaper guns have been fixable, like the F2F issues I had with my SD40, bought a heavier steel guide rod and while it still doesn’t shoot straight, it cycles just fine now. I try to stick with slightly nicer stuff now that my income is a little higher. I got a 5” M&P 9 and a G20 last year and I’ve mostly been shooting those two, the M&P15 and the PTR lately with half of my gun budget going to ammo for those guns and the other half being saved for something a bit nicer.
The C38v2 and yes, a Norinco AK
The Norinco had a barrel that was completely shot out and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
The C38v2 was just a piece of shit.
It was so shitty the The trigger had to be manually flicked forward after each shot.
I had a Jennings I bought basically just for lols, it's just as bad as they say. Weirdly enough it worked mostly fine with Remington subsonics but it failed to feed literally every other type of ammo. Anyway I knew what I was getting and it was fun but I got bored and sold it.
Also had an old Glenfield/Marlin model 60 I got from the same pawn shop, it wouldn't feed for shit. Apparently they fixed the problem on later models, but this one was functionally a single shot. Really accurate though, it would have been super fun if the fricking thing actually cycled. They let me exchange it for a Savage mk2 which was cool.
This is the Kimber .22lr I owned that couldn't get through a whole mag without jamming. Couldn't sell it fast enough. Extremely dissapointed because I was excited about practicing with a 1911 handgun using cheap ammunition.
Well if I ever do shoot one maybe I'll put it in /QTDDTOT/ or /hg/ with groups and jam/lack of jam. It feels stupid tiny in the hand; I got to hold one, but that was about it.
Two. I bought a .40 XD subcompact, my first pistol. Never liked it, was mogged by my brother who bought a USP, I hated myself. Sold it to my dad so I could double down on a full-size XD in .45. Stiff as frick recoil spring, trash ergos (slide catch useless with a proper two-handed grip), moronicly tall sights, and the frickin white dot on the front post literally fell out. Absolutely a shit gun. I still have it because no one in their right mind would buy such a gay pistol. I have since matured and moved on the not pissing away money on shitty guns, only pissing away money on good guns.
SCCY handgun. It was made out of toy plastic and the trigger snapped off. Sent it in for repair and it happened again. Sold it to some guy in a parking lot who was probably a felon because that's how my state makes you sell guns you don't want.
AR15 because you idiots told me I cojld build one at home, I bent the upper receiver screwing on the barrel nut. No that shit is not legos you fricking morons.
SCCY has the single worst trigger I've ever shot.
Mauser C96 is second worst, but I don't know if they're all like that or if the spring is just worn out on mine.

>SCCY
i have two of these dumb things, my first gun actually and the other i accidentally won on gunbroker for an extremely low price because the auction ended at like 2am.
the trigger is shit, shooting the gun is like handling a rabid chihuahua, but its been nothing but reliable in terms of short distance accuracy, feeding, and shooting
Waffen Werks/ARAK AK-74 >pre 7N6 ban so cheap 5.45 is everywhere >want an AK so put in an order >rifle comes in, has great plum furniture, solid enamel finish, rivets look good, no canting, etc... >Shoot a few rounds through it, get serious hangups >chamber is slightly undersized, won't accept rounds after it heats up, checked with gauges >likely needs to be reamed >their warranty department automatically claims I voided the warranty by shooting surplus, even though I just ran commercial Brown Bear and Tula >they accept it after a long call >their 'gunsmith' just shoots 10 rounds of 7n6 through it, doesn't clean it, and sends it with surface corrosion back, but only after stealing the plum furniture and replacing it with Tapco
It was easily fixed by someone competent, but what a shitty experience
Lol I just bought one of these last year, cheaper than a bully kit so I took a chance. Super early production on a nodak reciever too. Failure to eject every 5 rounds or so. Ejector plate looks fine so idk what's every wrong with it.
Yes. Just one. My dozens and dozens of guns are pretty much 100% reliable. Only one I've had has been an unreliable POS. It was a Sig Sauer P232. I loved the gun, but it would have a failure to extract every mag or two no matter what. Apparently back then it had an extractor problem. I promptly sold it for maybe 10% less than I bought it and got myself a real handgun, a brand new USP 45 for $700. Never looked back.
Marlin Camp Carbine
Universal Carbine
Century Golani
Ishapore 2A
Several SNS and bubba guns.
I have a bad habit of rolling the dice on sketchy guns or guns in bad condition hoping for the best. It works out about half the time, but a lot of the times I got burned I knew better and went for it anyway.
>Feed jam. >Feed jam. >Feed jam. >Failure to extract. >Feed jam. >Dead trigger. >Go to pull charging handle. >It's missing. >Examine op rod. >Op rod broke off around where it connects to bolt.
This was the late model stamped sheet metal op rod. I was able to find a replacement and sold off the gun.
10/22. Stovepipes every once in a while. Also was beating the big steel pin that blocks the bolt from reaching the back of the receiver until it deformed and I couldn't get it out. I replaced the pin with a polymer buffer. Also BX-25 mags suck unless you shim the little spool for the mag spring.
What ammo are you using? When (roughly) was it made? When did you get your BX-25s? The modern 25s and 15s are revised and can no longer be shimmed with a piece of .22 case and work way better. Yes, stovepipes, usually when dirty, especially with ammo it doesn't like. But yes, frick 6 o'clock holds.
>federal wally world 36gr >idk, 2018-ish >2018-ish >stovepipes calmed down a little after cleaning under extractor, but P(stovepipe) approaches 1 for every round shot over 100 on a given range trip
Yep, I've seen a 10/22 reject Federal like that; try Aguila or something similar (38-40gr, 1200fps, copper coated). Seems 2018-2020 is when the BX shim thing was last relevant (try new ones, way tighter). Interesting that cleaning under extractor is what you need; do you remove it from the bolt and in the barrel cutout or just scrub what you can? IIRC the cutout gets dirty and so does the exposed spring on the side of the bolt. No clue about newer 10/22s. But yes, the longer a 10/22 goes, the higher the chance of stovepipe (250-500 rds especially); .22 is dirty as frick and the 10/22 is a little picky. Run little to no oil, a film at most.
>extractor, spring, and plunger all come out so a nylon brush soaked in eliminator can get the gunk >can't be arsed to get different ammo since there are still full boxes of federal bulk ammo to go through and 22's doubled in price
Have some superior sights for your effortposting.
Might have to disassemble bolt one day to deep clean then. Agreed on the ammo; I only tried Aguila since it was all that was available for a reasonable price, originally with 5.56, then with .22lr. Who knew an ammo shortage would expose me to a new favorite ammo brand?
Also, I might have to get those sights; I have a B-TM stock sitting around that needs a 10/22 to toss in it and they'd look nice with said stock. Trying to keep up with effortposting, something that somehow hasn't been recorded with the most popular .22 in America, several parts have changed in dimension over time. How no autist has created a blog about Ruger or simply 10/22s to not just record variations in manufacturing (rear sight changes, metal parts becoming plastic, bolt engraving vs none, rollmark changes, special versions) but dimensional changes as well is beyond me. They seem to have changed the barrel profile (thinner to thicker IIRC), the stock cutout (free floated until end of barrel on old stocks vs no "lip" on newer stocks IIRC), and IIRC the trigger group is also a little longer in the rear on older 10/22s. Makes putting old model 10/22s in new stocks doable, but at the potential cost of accuracy, fitting, etc. I don't want to have to make the guide but if I have to I guess I have to; I want an early one (60s), have potential access to a 70s model, have likely access to an 80s model, and want to buy a modern one for the B-TM, etc.
I only clean mine every 1,000 rounds or so and have never had a single issue, even with my BX 25. Only thing it has trouble with are a couple of extra see-through mags i bought where you gotta smack the thing to get them out. Ruger mag it came with works fine though.
>free floated until end of barrel on old stocks vs no "lip" on newer stocks IIRC
Free floated until end of STOCK, sorry, excuse me, I'm a little moronic.
I used to have a VP70. It was a piece of shit with a horrible trigger. Sold it with no regrets.
I own a PTR91 that fails to feed and crushes cartridges and I can't get the bolt back together.
>ptr91
Yep had one of them shits too.
Crushed unfired cartridges, raped the ones it did decide to chamber/fire, had a funky issue where it wouldnt chamber the first round, probably the mag
Also horrible ergos
Yep sold that one
at least you tried.
Use a rag. I can't reassemble mine without using an old oily rag to twist the bolt. My fingers can't do it alone.
I had that bolt issue once and found some YouTube video out there with a good explanation of how to put it back together. Are you using and kind of hollowpoint or especially and kind of polymer tip rounds? They never work for me.
I wrote "and" instead of "any" twice in the same sentence. I need to go to sleep. It's fricking 8am.
No, I was using winchester white box fmj and red army standard fmj. Its a lemon POS.
I've tried a rag, tried a wrench with a rag covering the bolt, and watched several videos. I dicked with it for about 5 hours a few days ago and haven't touched it since in frustration. I think once I do get it back together I'm gonna go sell it back to the gunshop I got it from.
Had similar issues, this video helped me
the only gun i ever sold was one i parted out because the hook on the back of the frame that held the recoil spring and the slide sheared off, causing the slide to fly nicely behind me.
it was some 25acp pimp gun from germany i bought for $20 something. as i was shooting it i had this eerie feeling i should stop looking down the iron sights. 3 bullets later it failed.
hey i found a picture, this is the piece of shit that almost injured me.
>Winning Bid: $29.99
i remember like $25 when i parted it out
>reck
You almost got recked lol. Good thing you trusted your gut
I hated the S&W CSX. Just too snappy, trigger was trash for sao. Very easy to conceal but I just couldn’t shoot the thing well.
CSX love
My Star BM sucked.
Do you remember where you bought it from? Or what online dealer? Was thinking of picking one up.
Awful lot of effort just to shoot an incredibly mediocre pistol.
I still have mine with a sheered firing pin. It wasn't a bad range toy prior to it shitting the bed.
Same. Trash gun.

Fricking plastic everywhere.
>to add however is how easily it gunks up
>every 200 rounds it turns into a single shot
Yep.
>why did you continue to buy more of them after the first one was shit?
I didn't buy any of them; two came to my dad (and later me) in lieu of cash for money owed and the third was a gift.
1k was pushing it some but a douch of clp was enough to finish off the range trip before finally stop being a lazy shit and clean it when I got home
why did you continue to buy more of them after the first one was shit?
>Picky about ammo
this is the one thing i do agree with you on, but everything else i didnt experience, maybe i just got lucky
Especially compared to a 39A which may as well be a 1895 barrel blank cut for .22lr
>cleaned out literal pine needles
Good thing it wasn't full of figurative pine needles, that would have been a nightmare to clean!
Yeah, a Cobra .32 pistol I bought for $50. I'm trying to make it serviceable through minor modifications.
Gsg mp5 thing
Frick that piece of shit jamomatic
One word, Kimber
Really? I own a full size Kimber LW and it's really accurate and even feeds hollows reliably...
Thanks for the heads up. Wife bought it as gift so I gotta keep it anyways
I have a cz83 that constantly stovepipes and double feeds. I only paid like $250 so I'm not that upset but I had higher hopes for the gun tbh.
What ammo have you tried? My CZ82 runs Silver Bear 9x18 flawlessly but it can't get through a single mag of Brown Bear without a stovepipe
I've only tried Mountain Supply Co. .380 auto, I'll have to try other ammo types, but none of my other guns are picky about ammo.
Dont have it anymore but very similar to picrel some plebittor built.
It was a shitty blowback 9mm AR.
>heavier than a carbine length 5.56
>more recoil than 5.56 carbine or 9mm handgun
>weird transfer bar from glockazine catch to bolt stop
>glockazines actually suck in this role
Instead I just got good at handguns. A bit slower on shooting but faster on movement and it evens out. And you absolutely can make reliable shots past 50y, don't listen to the muh 3-7y brigade.
>>more recoil than 5.56 carbine or 9mm handgun
how did they even manage to do this?
Probably the 1lb bolt kicking around inside.
Thanks, never shot anything straight blowback thats bigger than a handgun
Seems like a not exactly a good design idea
That's the point of blowback: the mass of the bolt holds the bolt in place long enough for the boolit to begin its travel down the barrel.
Blowback is done because it's simple and cheap.
Not blowing out your poor little ear drums mostly.
It was awful.
im not much of stickler for gun aesthetics but something about small magazines on carbines and rifles always puts me off.
the gun wasnt designed around the magazine and the whole thing feels like an afterthought you know
Same, they look ridiculous. I see that shit in tarkov and all i can think of is, why.
>godfather font lettering on the company logo
>company is in north las vegas
checks out
If something is really really shitty, but it’s at least cool, I’ll give it a pass.
CSX/P2000SK/A Shield/Ruger LCR or some flavor of jframe if you want
Also you're literally supporting a cult by buying one
In our shop we get lots of Desert Eagles with all kinds of malfunction s. Mostly we end up fixing them, they break again and then the owners decide to just sell them. They were really cheap second hand around here because of that reason. People just buy them because they look cool. Also I saw one fly apart on a range
The problem is you didn't get the .40
I got rid of a 1st gen S&W 40VE back in the late 90's because it started going full auto on me right out of the box, (sounds fun, but it isn't). I also had an EAA CZ clone I bought when I was young and broke that would not cycle reliably at all and a Springfield 1911 aluminum frame that cracked at about 1500 rounds.
Makarov
> Years ago
> bought two from RSR Wholesale in AZ for $95 each
> figured, one would be good, right?
> pistols arrive
> stripped each one, side by side
> shitty machining, tool marks everywhere, completely unlike any western pistol I'd seen
> bonus cosmoline!
> clean, lube with Tetra
> reassemble
> DA pull on both was awful
> SA pull on one wasn't bad
> one would regularly fail to feed from all the Mak mags I had
> sold the fail to feed pistol for $125 cash money
> remaining Mak was heavy for its size and had an awful trigger
> and the "target sights" RSR put on to meet GCA '68 import points were awful
> it came with the original Bakelite (?) grips and these awful Hogue-like grips
> the Hogue grips felt gooey, just awful
> sold remaining Mak a few months later
I never understood all the hype over the Makarov, other than it was cheap, russian, and cheap.
As I understand it in East Europe if you want a gun you can get a Makarov.
They're terrible but compared to having no gun the "good enough"
In the US I think it's just a souvenir type deal.
Yeah, the 9x18 caliber is ok in some countries that have a "no military calibers" law.
I *think* Mexico is like that. 9x19 is bad because military, 9x18 is ok, because reasons.
>9mm Makarov isn't a "military" caliber
dafuq
Usually those laws are for domestic military use so a non military force can't use military ammunition they stole.
Which is stupid because if you can get stolen military ammunition but not guns you fricked up.
In Mexico .38 Super is the preferred 9x19 alternative
Of course better would be to just not be a corrupt shithole but many such cases.
interesting. never thought about it from that angle.
Had two 870s that you had to mortar to get low brass to cycle.
Sold my ol'reliable PT92, there was nothing wrong with it but in the back of my head it always screamed "poorgay Beretta cope" when I looked at it. Now I miss it, it was my first gun.
shame be upon ye for selling a good and reliable fun for such a petty reason
may her memory haunt ye in your sleep forever more
They are unironically just as good. Don't let anyone troll you. They are made in Berettas old factory on Beretta machines bought by Taurus...
Why not use factory mags?
>Glock 48
>Why not use factory mags?

"From the people that brought you the Rem 700 safety, behold the craptacular extractor on our 870, it extracts most of the time."
Have you not heard of the Wilson combat 870 "steal" package because you should really looking into that
Every CZ 75 I have ever handled.
It shot like trash and carried like a boat anchor.
imagine my shock, having begrudgingly cajunized my own alloy frame P-01. that factory trigger is total dogshit and something about the recoil spring is frickered beyond belief. an alloy frame gun SHOULD NOT have recoil comparable to single stack pocket 9 like the PPS or the LCP.
lol
lmao

USPS is the only way now.
>how can people be pissed when somebody tries to convince the uninformed that a product is good when it was disproportionately good reviews that tricked those angry people into buying the bad product in the first place
there were reviews up when I was shopping for a compact hammer fired handgun that said they'd fixed the dry fire problem.

MDR.
I love bad guns that don't work.
But this was a "good" gun that didn't work.
It's like The Room vs Ghostbusters 2016, both bad but one is fun and the other is just disappointing.
MDR or MDR-X? I've been considering the simplified version.
Original MDR. Can't speak to the X but they don't seem to actually be as different as they claim.
The extraction is entirely different though. It's much simplified, just extracts out the side like a conventional bullpup would instead of all that complex wizardry the original model had.
Thats the SE model. They still made the FE model, dummy.
This is correct.
You are a stupid fricking dildo and are wrong. Ligma, newbie.
You're really, really bad at looking into things bud.
I love bad guns that don't work.
Just bought a fake PPK off of Gunbroker. It's stamped "WAFFEN WEST GERMANY" on the slide but it's made in fricking Eibar. It'll either be a great little gun or a complete piece of shit.
based shit gun enjoyer, a quarter of my collection is bizarre garbage and knockoffs
I put a PSG-1 trigger in mine. It's a lot better than the stock staple gun trigger it came with.
I wanted to get the spuhr stock but you can't use irons with it installed. I instead went with a Tourbon cheek riser that can be quickly removed if the optic shits the bed.
God I love these threads, full of unga-dunga morons and people too scared or moronic to use a warranty or fix the problem themselves.
Or just pussies like this guy’s case
The only people who seem to sing the G3s praises are Europoors who served in the Bundeswehr and never fired anything else in their life.
>the fact you need a proprietary tool to adjust them is laughable.
Lmao you mean a phillips screw driver? Fricking alien technology right?
>My

Ever heard of a thing called sample of one? You got a shitty one, sucks to be you but that doesn't mean it applies to everyone
You’re better off throwing it at the target than trying to get it to shoot.
whats wrong with your dad and brother? for even cheaper he couldve bought those spectrums, at least that wouldve fired
>Any that you sold because they were trash?
Beretta 92 .22 kit.
The C38v2 and yes, a Norinco AK
The Norinco had a barrel that was completely shot out and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
The C38v2 was just a piece of shit.
It was so shitty the The trigger had to be manually flicked forward after each shot.
Was it really super worn or was it just bad out of the factory? The Norinco.
Yeah my Chinese sks.
Fricking dogshit asiatic Black person gun. Fricking moronic gun.
what was the issue with it? What year manufacture?
Love my chinese SKS. I have one of the older type 56s and it shoots like a dream. Probably my favorite rifle.
My Chinese SKS is my home defense rifle, shoots like a fricking dream
i still cant figure out why you made that a home defense gun, i see you post this like every day
This is the Kimber .22lr I owned that couldn't get through a whole mag without jamming. Couldn't sell it fast enough. Extremely dissapointed because I was excited about practicing with a 1911 handgun using cheap ammunition.
Browning makes a 1911 in .22lr IIRC. Poly frame IIRC and it's tiny as frick, like 75% scale at its biggest if my estimation is correct.
Hot damn that's precious.
Really want to shoot one. Apparently it's a decent little pistol, but I really only have one datapoint.
ye i'm going to ask around a bunch. the idea of dropping 600+ on ANOTHER shitty 22 pistol isn't appealing.
Waffen Werks/ARAK AK-74
>pre 7N6 ban so cheap 5.45 is everywhere
>want an AK so put in an order
>rifle comes in, has great plum furniture, solid enamel finish, rivets look good, no canting, etc...
>Shoot a few rounds through it, get serious hangups
>chamber is slightly undersized, won't accept rounds after it heats up, checked with gauges
>likely needs to be reamed
>their warranty department automatically claims I voided the warranty by shooting surplus, even though I just ran commercial Brown Bear and Tula
>they accept it after a long call
>their 'gunsmith' just shoots 10 rounds of 7n6 through it, doesn't clean it, and sends it with surface corrosion back, but only after stealing the plum furniture and replacing it with Tapco
G3 is a trash rifle and anyone who defends is is a coping poorgay
Just about every milsurp gun is ass.

This was the late model stamped sheet metal op rod. I was able to find a replacement and sold off the gun.

Get out newhomosexual.
Death to 6 o'clock holds.
What ammo are you using? When (roughly) was it made? When did you get your BX-25s? The modern 25s and 15s are revised and can no longer be shimmed with a piece of .22 case and work way better. Yes, stovepipes, usually when dirty, especially with ammo it doesn't like. But yes, frick 6 o'clock holds.
>federal wally world 36gr
>idk, 2018-ish
>2018-ish
>stovepipes calmed down a little after cleaning under extractor, but P(stovepipe) approaches 1 for every round shot over 100 on a given range trip
Run little to no oil, a film at most.
>extractor, spring, and plunger all come out so a nylon brush soaked in eliminator can get the gunk
>can't be arsed to get different ammo since there are still full boxes of federal bulk ammo to go through and 22's doubled in price
Marlin 1894, Remington era. Every single thing except the furniture was bad. I ended up throwing it away.
>free floated until end of barrel on old stocks vs no "lip" on newer stocks IIRC
Free floated until end of STOCK, sorry, excuse me, I'm a little moronic.
Ruger 10/22
