You mean that huge nuclear power plant in Ukraine that is occupied by the Russian army and used as a military base despite the danger of creating Chernobyl 2.0?

Same reason nasa uses computers from the 90s in their space probes. Ultimate reliability. It's a lot easier for data on a chip to be corrupted by outside forces than for a physical resistor and transistor to burn out.

      >ackshually

They use older (pentium II and III) gen because the architecture itself is pretty reliable and consumes low power. It's the same reason why Intel went back to Pentium III architecture as the basis for sandy bridge era processor and up (instead of the dumpster fire that is Pentium 4)

Nowadays JAXA, ESA and even CNSA are moving towards RISC-based processor due to its relative simplicity, open source and consumes even less power than x86 based processor

Considering that hole is to let the HEAT stream through, I'm surprised that board isn't turbo fricked.
