You keep mocking Russia's cope cages, but which western tank has a credible chance of surviving a top-attack munition, like a Javelin? Hard mode: can survive multiple hits.

idk if they can, I'll assume they can't, but Ivan that's not why we laugh at you. We laugh because you strap some retarded monkey quick-fix on top that rattles around and provides zero protection whatsoever. It's like watching a child trying to shoot an animal with a water gun: you know it won't work, but he doesn't, and that's funny

which Russian cope cage allows them to survive multiple hits?

My top kek of this week was when a vatnik claimed that if the West made cope cages they would work because of "better material". Truly a cargo cult.

I can recall that a russian media website claimed that cope cages were nicknaned by their tank crews as "grills" due to their appearence, wich is revisionism because the ukies were the first to invent that nickname. The nickname came from the cages colapsing/melting in the ammo cockoff flames, preventing the tank crew from getting out, hence grills.

It's because it looks like you'd be grilling up some shashlik on there.

        >melting in ammo fire
        >prevent the crew from escaping
The crew is between the ammo and the grill bruh. If the grill is melting the crew has already been cremated.

That’s bullshit because the T-72 has an escape hatch on the bottom

Which is easily blocked if the tank isn't on solid flat surface. Soviet tanks don't have that much ground clearance. Even so the hatches on top appear to be what they try first.

None. This is why we employ this thing called multi-layered defense. We might lose ONE tank of a column to top attack munitions but after that everything in the general vicinity will get a visit from Mister Air Force and Doctor Artillery.
We also got the means to achieve total air surpremacy at will. Means we can have 24/7 multi-spectral real-time surveillance that spots every fucker with a javelin early enough.

It's nice when your baaaad bad MIC makes sure you stay ahead at least a decade over your possible adversaries.

Merkava IV with Trophy+Iron fist will handily swat several top-attack ATGMs from the sky simultaneously

These two are right, I am guessing all this footage of tanks getting owned by drones and missile will accelerate the implementation of ADPS

They're going to have to start replacing the warheads on every 2nd ATGM with EW/decoy suites to overwhelm the APS sensors, cat-and-mouse

The T14 has an active protection system which detects and intercepts incoming anti-tank munitions that are moving up to mach 5. This provides 360 degree cover and is effective against depleted uranium

Unironically best thing about Armata's Afghanit APS is its ability to deploy soft-kill countermeasures. The hard-kill seems quite lacking, especially compared to Trophy or Iron fist.

I think this is one of the things that is believed until these tanks face actual top-attack munitions in live combat.

It's not really a stupid idea. If you drive a t-xx through cities, which as a tanker sucks, but you have to do, it can catch an rpg7 tandem, or not. Also makes it a bit harder for FPV drones to get a top kill. Still, the bigger issue is that if your opponents have hard counters all around like Javelins, NLAWs, Carl G, Panzerf, AT mines, Excalibur rounds, DPICM etc. then it's not going to move the needle on how many tanks get destroyed much.

But to be safe its better to put cope cages on them as AFU is doing.

Drone net =/= cope cage. Drone nets actually work sometimes to stop FPV drones.
