Everyone talks about the T-14 but no one ever talks about the T-15, mainly because its somehow even further back in development then the T-14.

Its a Russian attempt at a Namer style heavy APC/IFV.

My country operates a bunch of T-90s and other Ruski vehicle so the Ukraine war has been very disappointing. Haha. So many neat vehicle concepts ended up just being nothing.

        Yak-141
        MiG 1.44
        Black Eagle
Several AK replacements that went nowhere

The stuff they were doing in 90s was more interesting than the stuff they actually managed to parade around in 2010s

Is there anything after the USSR that Russia has actually built? Literally all their vehicles they use now are just derived from USSR work. It’s like Russia has no ability to build anything new anymore.

They bought it from the exact same source. Also, unlike Kuznetsov, China has actually been sending its carriers on constant sea missions to develop experience for running carrier missions. The inside of ships looking like the Russian example is NOT normal. Ships behaving like Kuznetsov does, is NOT normal.

When everywhere is sunny but there is that one dark tall cloud flying around and dropping hails. And 5 minutes after it's Sunny again. You don't want flying into such cloud and planes flaying parade formation had no option to dodge clouds.

Not the best demonstration (and a pretty recent example), but first thing that came to mind

Splicing your sentences together from existing voicelines takes more creativity and I think the result is funnier because you recognize some voiceline and there is some inherent humor how certain lines are appropriated to say something else.

Why do MICs get all this funding to produce these incredible (technologically anyway, nevermind practically) prototypes that never get produced or seen by the average soldier, what gives?

      Anonymous

Most of them are experiments to see what they can do with current tech if they push it as far as they can go to see what works, what just doesn't and what COULD work in five years time when technology progresses a little bit farther.

It's a lot harder to hide your budget pilfering when you don't even have a prototype to show off. At least with a few prototypes you can stall for more development time or make up bullshit about how you're just ironing out production details.

You get paid to research, develop, and build 100 tanks. You half ass your R&D, build 10 tanks and then say you're out of money due to various unforeseen factors in the development, including devious western sabotage (lining my own pockets and hoping you buy my excuse).

I looked up the photos where the suit was showcased and the lights are arranged in the roof as rectangles. So yeah, it's reflection.

Yeah the US just tends to send both light carriers and amphibious assault ships in the same group.

2 America-class and 4 San Antonio-class add in a few Whidbey Island-class or Harpers Ferry-class boats and you have yourself a very potent amphibious assault group. Add in some escort destroyers and a sub or two and bobs your uncle, you're ready to go island hopping.

It's certainly a bold move to have the Aircraft Carrier leading the assault of an enemy beach head.

It's not actually an insane idea? The US does this too. There's now plans to station VTOL F-35s on Wasp-class Amphibious Assault Ships.

Amphibious Assault Ships aren't what they sound like. They don't sail up to the beach, force themselves onto it, and deploy troops that way. They usually carry a complement of helicopters, and deploy smaller amphibious vehicles to actually go assault the beach. Pretty neat.

Of course, Russia doesn't have STOL/VTOL/STOVL aircraft, so trying to combine a full aircraft carrier concept with an Amphibious Landing Ship would be moronic, but there you go.

The rotating nozzle only thing there that was promising. 3 engines just to take off is insanity even for Yak-ob-palubu-huyak(widowmaker). The Rolls-Royce engine for the F35b is a genius thing

      Anonymous

The thing is that Russia always hypes up their concept gear as something that's going into service soon (the Sotnik armor in the OP was supposed to go into service within 4 years). The US Army's future gear concepts for comparison are always what things could look like a decade or sometimes further into the future and are what projects they're currently experimenting with could look like together if they work out, with anything hyped as coming within a few years being an actual working prototype at least.
