You find yourself in the room outside the anti-mass spectrometer. You have the last gun you had on you and as much ammo as you can carry. you survive the Black Mesa incident?

A Russian federation army thread died for this shitty larp...
And the overall quality of the board was improved. I love happy endings.
And thats a good thing
And that's a good thing
>Russian federation army thread
Literally all of the war threads are pro Ukraine, gay.
>AR10 DMR in .30-hate
Built her myself, love this bitch to death. Though I can garauntee I would not make it out alive. I can't b-hop for shit, my cardio is garbage. I'll hole up and die with honor.

I'm so fucking dead
Same, hey at least I brought my cat so we can enjoy his company before we die
>FAL
My ass will definitely be heavy, but I think I have a decent shot
>K31 and bayonet
I'll give myself a 10% chance of making it out alive.
>Anti-Mass Spectrometer
No anon, I can't survive the fucking Black Mesa incident from the path Gordon took without an HEV suit and neither can anybody else here.
Even if you DID survive and kill every alien motherfucker in your path, you'd end up dying to the hazardous environments.
Or you know, the fucking nuke.
Maybe if you made this sensible and started us out where Barney starts this would be a question but as it is, lol no.
Maybe I could get G-Mans attention by yelling out shit I'm not supposed to know yet but otherwise no way.
With our meta knowledge of the setting my bet would be to subdue a vortigaunt and try to remove his manacles, then after that try to establish communication and team up with him to free more of his downtrodden fellows. Hopefully in sufficient numbers they can xen magic our asses out of there before the nuke gets us.
OUTSIDE the AMS. Reread the post retard. Surviving black Mesa’s easy, you just need to get to the surface before the HECU arrive. Fail to do that and you’re screwed.
Yes, the room directly outside of the AMS still puts you on Gordon's route and you still fucking die because that path has no way to the Surface.
Unless you get real lucky and the tram just works.
At what point could one of us not gotten to the surface where freeman could have?
Blast Pit and Power Up.
Good luck wading through all that radioactive sludge without an HEV.
He got to the surface in We’ve Got Hostiles, before those levels. I figure if you were fast enough, you could get up there before the military arrives and jump the fence, then drive off in an SUV, like at the end of blue shift.
>you just need to get to the surface before the HECU arrive
This. HECU and Black Ops arrival is the moment the situation went irreversibly fucked. That's also the moment Xen bring out the big guns like Grunts and Gargantuas from the relatively "mild" inter-dimension ecosystem spill, not to mention Race X started appearing.
the average PrepHoleommando would get ambushed by houndeyes long before that and die because they're allergic to cardio leaving them unable to sprint away.
Barney survived with an HEV suit
Without* fuck
barney wasnt even in the same area IIRC
>Maybe if you made this sensible and started us out where Barney starts this would be a question but as it is, lol no.
Because starting in an elevator crash is so much better
PPS-43C
Honestly? Not the worst.
>PPS-43C
Same. With enough 35 round mags of 7.62x25, I'd feel confident taking down anything up to an Alien Grunt
Tokarev ammo is basically 357 power. So it’s a machine fun python
>Tokarev ammo is basically 357 power. So it’s a machine fun python
most .357 loadings have much more muzzle energy than 7.62x25
Lots of loads to 1800fps which puts them in the 357 kinetic range.
Also tokarev routinely out penatrates 357, probably good for chitenous monsters
>Vityaz clone
I mean, if HECU can do some damage with MP5s I guess Im not immediately fucked, but I aint making it very far
What game?
You must be 18 to post on this site.

>savage axis precision .270
yeah
post date of birth
>L98A2 Assault rifle
Assuming I've got webbing I can probably carry a fair few magazines. Assuming I can fight my way to the part with the HECU marines, I kill the first one we encounter, put on his uniform, and try to pretend to be a shellshocked survivor of a wiped out unit so the others accept me into their ranks, and then survive long enough after that to get EVAC'ed with the rest by the time "forget about freeman" gets called out on the radio.
>die to initial resonance cascade explosion
>escape the collapsing structure and exploding experimient rooms to a more stable location? die to a houndeye or something directly portaled into the room
>escape the portal storms or survive until im not as big a target as the military? die by being executed by the military
>hide and survive a full on US army assault? die to the zen soldier death squads and bombers
>survive past them? die to the nuke that gets dropped
>somehow steal a helicopter or jeep or something with the knowledge they were going to fucking nuke arizona? die to just a normal portal storm all across the globe in the next 24 hours, now spreading wildly and with no direction since the giant fucking brain baby died
>survive even just one day? all of humanity surrenders to the combine and i get tossed into the feeding slurry machine
Why would you want to survive

I just might make it long enough to kill an HECU grunt for their kit

why did you even touch that.
Parts/project gun, if no value left then no pain when I make it even worse

>type99
Rifle or machine gun
Not a SPAS-12 but works fine.
My G19, so I guess I'm on Barney mode. Hopefully I can find weapon pickups.
> “Don’t worry sir I can take them!”
You get crowbared to death by Gordon because he wants more pistol ammo
Hey me too!
I don't have anything to worry about because Opposing Force is not canon 🙂
Soft canon, mind you.
Shrodinger's character as Laidlaw said once in an interview, It may have happend, it may not.
Just like those gals.
It is.
>Barney Calhoun from Blue Shift is in HL2
>OpFor and Decay are both referenced in BS
Therefore, all the addons are canon.
they never say "calhoun" in half-life 2, just barney. i think the gearbox games are canon because what judith says about xen relays on the elevator in black mesa east is pretty similar to what rosenberg says about the focal point in blue shift, but they technically never say it's the same barney
?t=1487
?t=156
Even if they share the same first name, that seems to be pretty reasonable evidence for Blue Shift being canon. Or did the "Barney" name ever come up in HL1?
A /cgl/ tangent, but I work security and did an anime con once and saw some kid cosplaying as Barney in his black masa security uniform and he was really looking down, so I just yelled at him 'Hey! Don't forget about the beer you owe me!' He looked my way and his face just lit up with joy.
Little moments like that makes the world worth fighting for.
Absolutely gigabased.

Uh huh....if you say so

>Opposing Force is not canon 🙂
5 people are known to make it out of Black Mesa alive.
Gordon Freeman, Barney Calhoun, Wallace Breen, Isaac Kleiner, and Eli Vance.
Gordon and Freeman's routes out are probably too hazardous. They basically had to fight their way out and navigate all sorts of insane hazards and resonance cascade after-effects.
Wallace Breen is somewhat implied to have been in contact with either the Combine, and/or G-man, to ensure he gets out safe so he can later get himself installed in the Citadel as negotiator/administrator. He's not likely to want to have you tag along with him.
That leaves finding Kleiner and Eli and getting out with them. Eli does lose his leg in the process so some shit must go down after Gordon leaves the two in sector C after the explosion. They're both rather altruistic individuals so will probably be glad to have you tag along as an armed escort.
I'll be carrying a double barreled shotgun.
You forgot Magnusson. Canoninically he was only a short walk away from the anti-mass spectrometer room when the cascade happened.
Blue Shift showed that there were a good 4or 5 scientists with Calhoun.
>TFW lab monkey irl
>tfw carry to stop carjacking but don’t let coworkers know have gun since they’re all foreign scientists who will think I’m nuts
>Eli does lose his leg in the process
No, no he lost his leg not that long before HL2. It got torn off by a bullsquid when he was helping Kleiner get into city 17
Alyx, too. She was just a kid at the time, but as I've understood it, lived with her parents at the Black Mesa facility.
Alyx was rescued by G-Man.
>ww4
>Gordon and Freeman
Hell yeah semi-auto FN Scar 16
is this a hitscan or projectile situation?
Do I get to bring batteries?
with a glock? Lmao, even if you had a M4 all it takes is one headcrab to blind side you. They turn you into zombies as soon as they get near your head since you dont have Gordons plot armor

>SP101 in .357
Given how well .357 performed in the game, I think I have a fighting chance as long as I book it and avoid engaging large groups of enemies.
The last gun I held was a Dreyse Needle rifle with a shortened stock (I have no idea when or why it happened it was not me)
>M1014
Time to shitcan some xenos and nerds.
>Browning Buckmark
Well fellas. I will either come out a true chad or die as a .22let
>S9-A1
>one mag
well uh i hope there's just one of them and i get a head shot
>You get a Nagant
At least I modded the trigger pull and it beats the 38 enfield
I think what Questionable Ethics proved was that the resonance cascade wasn't the first incursion, or as big of a deal as the previous events would have you believe. But if the ayy lmaos didn't get you, the nuke afterwards would. The only reason why Gordon, Eli, Kleiner and ostensibly Shepherd survived is because G-man magic I don't have to explain shit.
Black mesa had been travelling to Xen and bringing stuff back before the cascade. Questionable Ethics is all the stuff they had been researching.
I'll be A okay. The .357 magnum kills most enemies with 1 or 2 shots.
>Nagant M1895
I'm probably screwed but at least I'll look classy when I die
>Glock 20
>.357 in game kills in one or two shots

>shoot that fucking nerd when he's captured
EZ.
>Kar98k
I guess I can whack headcraps with it to save ammo because I sure as hell wont stuff much of it in my jeans pockets unless backpack is allowed. But at least range isn't an issue and I can put a hole into anyone I hit until I get capped by HECU or die to some hazzard.
M1 Carbine.
I'm dead as shit.
>semi auto slightly more powerful than .357
that would be better than the tau cannon
i don't think they named him ingame but his model name was always barney.mdl. in blue shift you never fight with freeman, but in half-life 2 and episode 1 barney says "just like old times" in combat, implying he was one of the guards in the main campaign, so there were two guys named barney. unless the teleporter malfunction at the end of blue shift created a copy that didn't escape and made his way to the main campaign path, the guy in half-life 2 probably isn't calhoun
>barney says "just like old times" in combat, implying he was one of the guards in the main campaign
He could just be referring to Blue Shift. Originally the name "Barney" for the guards (or the model at least) was just a reference to the Andy Griffith Show, same as Otis' name. Blue Shift actually gave him a surname and made him his own character. Other characters do mention Barney as knowing Gordon since before the incident as well, such as Kleiner having told Alyx that the two would race each other through the air ducts when Kleiner locked his keys in his office. Some other evidence is Barney's fear of headcrabs, since many jumped at his head during Blue Shift when rounding corners.
There's somewhat of an inconsistency with Blue Shift anyways. In Half Life 1, the guard later retconned to be Calhoun (guy banging on the door) has his vest, helmet, flashlight, and gun already equipped. In Blue Shift, Calhoun doesn't get these until after he's gone through the door and gotten to his locker. Stranger still is that switching to a third person view in Blue Shift reveals Barney Calhoun's player model is actually Gordon yet again.
>Jericho in 9mm
Considering I'm already a security guard, I'm just another Barney here. Or at least Otis. I don't know what that means for my chances of getting out alive considering I'm still with the science team and the place is getting nuked within the day.
Otis had a deagle & he needed all that fat to absorb the recoil. 9mm Jericho aint got crap compared to Otis the chad
Honestly Otis is so slick he almost scares me. This man definitely used PrepHole before the Resonance Cascade.
>VHS-2
Finally one of these threads and I'm not completely boned. Still probably gonna die since I don't have an HEV suit or any kind of protective gear
>My Beretta Cheetah
At least Im a good shot with it
>My real-deal rock-n-roll Winchester M14, a dozen mags and my shitty old M1956 rig
If I make it to a vehicle, I’m cannonball running up to Canada and disappearing innabush to discreetly hide on the outskirts of what remains of civilization until Gordon & Co. can teleport the Borealis up Breen's asshole or whatever the plan in HL3 will be.
I survive
>.22LR CZ 457 I have barely any experience with
I dare say my chances to last past the five minute mark are slim.
>Block II M4gery with a red dot, light and sling
I think I have a shot at surviving
muh 10/22
well at least I have a chance to an hero before I get turned into a zombie or anything gruesome like that
best canon choice right here. no living thing can survive getting shot with a beam of particles moving at near the speed of light
I now have a different gun
Which is a worse load out? An unchambered lcp with no backup mag. Or a Nagant M1895 modified with a trigger job
Assume the later has milsurp ammo (380acp performance)
>An unchambered lcp with no backup mag.
do you concealed-carry with an empty chamber??
While at work since it going off in a lab would be one of the worst things that could happen
It’s probably still better than no gun
>S&W model 65 in .357
well, it's no laser-sighted Colt Python, but it should still be A-tier.
the python didn't have a laser, that was the desert eagle.
it had the laser enabled in multiplayer iirc
We’re gonna party like it’s 1935.
>Gen 3 G23
I'm probably in the same boat as the armed guards, so good chance I'll end up as headcrab food
Just find a helmet. Should give enough time to shoot it off your head hopefully without blasting a part of your skull off
>Should give enough time to shoot it off your head hopefully without blasting a part of your skull off
If it's on your head you're literally better off blowing as much as you can off your skull. Gordon & Co could only survive by virtue of being player characters. As the zombified guards and marines in hl1 show, headcrabs operate on facehugger rules; helmets won't save you.
They're never shown to have acid, so I've always assumed that they eithher had to slowly gnaw through or pry off any helmets they encountered. If that is the case, just don't let get incapacitated.
>Headcrab jumps on your head
>Try and shoot it with glock
>Miss, get a concussion from taking 180 grains of lead to the dome (Assuming the helmet isn't just a cool looking bike helmet)
>Headcrab fruitlessly tries coupling with the dented helmet as I lay there unconcious
We don't talk about what happened at Mesa anymore

Why was black mesa security such jobbers that only Barney managed to escort few scientists to safety?
They had good gun ranges & physical training courses along with access to weapons starting with glock 19 as default and deagle, spas-12, mp5, python for heavier stuff in lockers.
Have you seen the shape of the security Shepard ran into? Obviously not all of them are in the greatest shape,. Plus by the time a good chunk made it topside the HECU was there with orders to clean the mess up.
A number of reasons:
>a) Basically EVERYTHING went to shit when the resonance cascade hit. All the phone lines or anything else the BMSF could have used to coordinate any organized action got fucked immediately - and that's assuming the top brass didn't all eat shit the moment the invasion started - meaning it was basically every man for himself on the ground.
>b) All that heavy ordinance was locked up, which meant to get any you'd likely have to fight your way through ayys with nothing but your service pistol.
>c) The BMSF are law enforcement, not soldiers. Their billet was most likely keeping peace in the Black Mesa complex itself, resolving any criminal activity involving it's employees, and (presumably) monitoring for spies or saboteurs. They weren't properly trained or equipped to counter a transdimensional alien invasion, and even if they were, the first two issues would likely have kneecapped their effectiveness regardless.
Black Mesa was ultimately nuked, so even if the security guards did manage to fight past the aliens and the HECU, they'd still have to make through a lot of desert before they could reach anywhere 'safe', and they'd have to do that in the two days between the resonance cascade and the nuke going off. It's a miracle Barney managed it at all.
Its not surprising at, Barney got away in an SUV like a day before the nuke went off
>P320 shoots me in the leg and immobilizes me
>headcrab eats my brains
No, I don't survive.
Last gun I had was my p10c so Im kinda fucked.
M&p 15-22 with as much ammo as I can carry?
Bad day to be a headcrab.
Glock 17 in a Micro Roni conversion with sights. If I can have 33-rounds mags, there a chance i'll survive until I reach Lambda Core. Not sure against HECU and Specs Ops tho
>Springfield m1a
If I'm stuck in the Freeman section I'm pretty boned, ain't no 7.62, unless I get access to the SAW from OF. If I'm replacing freeman that means I get his hazard suit which is pretty dope, if I'm just next to him I'll just follow his ass around until the desert section and hike the fuck outta there
>SAW
>7.62
AP5 with binary trigger
I think i'll be doing lots of shooting but prolly won't survive
>Glock 26
At least finding ammo won't be an issue.

What in the absolute fuck are you kids talking about?!?! Black who the shit? Outside the what the fuck ever?
Bait, but if you are serious...and you wandered on in without knowing, then why bother commenting?
Recent range trip. Oddly fitting. A good shotgun, heavy magnum, and a mid tier handgun. Should make it passed the first wave.
>PSA AR with a red dot
Better than what anyone else had to begin with, and the magazines have my waifu on them so I'll be highly motivated to survive. Like others have said though, getting an HEV suit would increase my chances greatly.
Should have added this in OP for rough scale reference of the BM territory for those that need memory refresh:
I reckon these works better
Fuck, second vid was a mistake, meant to send https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxGtJWy2rcA&t=307s
Given how most of the enemies in the game drop from 12gauge and 9mm in pretty short order. Probably an FAL, or any other reliable 7.62 rifle. Probably do me good.
It doesn't matter though, everyones fucked when they reach pic rel anyway.
Wasn't that big of a jump and the ladder extends downward quite a bit
Gotta do a long jump, grab the ladder with your hands and then do a pull up
It's been a while since I played, but I think that *if* you manage to make the jump, you'll land on an intact piece of ladder. So it will just be like a regular ladder climb. Though I disagree with all the other anons and say most anons will die from falling debris. Sector C test labs was quite a mess.
This might be interesting.
It was in the travel case though, do I get the whole case?

Yeah, but that kinda fun retarded shit is wgat our board culture is based on.
