I'm not sure what Seths obsession with tearing Brian down was about, nor why it had to come from a perverted rapist and likely pedophile. Some sort of, "if even the bad guy is calling you out, imagine how terrible you must be" thing?

In any case every time writers of "adult shows" try something deeper than a puddle, they frick up because it isn't the right medium. It's close to impossible to create heartfelt or poignant moments and only the rarest of shows manage despite themselves, and it has to be earned. Not just treated like a throwaway gag where the joke is that there is no joke, and they're being serious.

everyone likes brian because they are normal dog loving people. quagmire is a filthy cat loving pervert so he is the only one set up to hate on brian.

      >aren't you a serial rapist?
Quagmire's "oh at least I don't pretend to be someone else" argument wouldn't work here. Brian really should have went all in, but acting like a 15 year old obsessed schoolgirl trying to win Quagmire's affection was the root cause of his loss here.

The whole point was that Quagmire was aware of how bad his actions were and he was honest about it while Brian kept acting like he's a great person that everyone should like despite how obnoxious and terrible he is.
Jesus Christ, it's hard to believe how braindead you morons are for failing to understand family guy writing.

        Okay.
So that makes him better or more qualifies to tear someone else down, somehow?
Being an unapologetic rapist is better than being a douchebag?

How the frick does that work. Is this American "morality" at work?

yeah before the internet you needed authority to make statements like this. "appeal to authority" means you have the wrong kind of authority, e.g. "Professor Smith says smoking causes more good than harm" but then he's a professor of nuclear physics

"only an accurate argument will work" is literally a 2channel/PrepHole invention. anonymous people can't be correct.

quagmire's honest about his vices and downfalls, brian is peak liar about his. brian (used to) eat up a lot of peter's time and spout his nonsense, quagmire probably sees his basically mentally moronic friend being taken advantage of by a scumbag live-in 'friend'

a great example (also coincidentally involving Quagmire) is the episode where Quagmire's sister and her abusive husband come to visit.

I didn't think this episode was deep or pretentious at all. Just because it deals with more heavy subject matter doesn't mean they weren't constantly making jokes about domestic violence.

there's no congruence to anything they make. as you mentioned quagmire was a sexual predator so he's literally the last person on earth to judge anyone for anything. this shit starts and ends within an episode and the writers don't care, so why do you?

Both of course. Just because Quagmire is honest about what an absolute monster of a human being he is doesn't make him better than Brian. Last I checked Brian never engaged in human trafficking, rape and slavery.

Quagmire should be locked up, not doing "hot takes" about the supposed hypocrisy of another character. It's like they forgot that Brian is a dog and the premise is too stupid to try this level of serious dialogue.

This is how I view the scene. Quagmire isn't assuming any moral high ground here, he's just answering Brian's question honestly and explaining exactly why he hates him. Quagmire doesn't hate Brian because Brian is a terrible person, Quagmire hates Brain because Brian is insufferable.

No you're not a bad person if you don't work at the soup kitchen. But if you pass your time preaching about what people must do to improve the situation and then expect others to do it, then yes you are a bad person. It's not difficult to understand, although i suspect you're just trolling

      >But if you pass your time preaching about what people must do to improve the situation and then expect others to do it, then yes you are a bad person
There are people called life coaches and psychiatrists who do that for a living and you generally wouldn't call them bad people.

Brian's advice is unsolicited, but so is Quagmire's dumb rant.
Either one of them should have said, "neither of us is going to get anything positive out of this talk so let's call it here".

Brian asks why Quagmire doesn’t like him. Quagmire lists everything he dislikes about Brian, but says none of it really matters and that he only avoids him because he is boring. If asked why he hates Peter, Quagmire could probably go on for an entire season why he dislikes Peter. But Peter is fun and that’s why Quagmire hangs out with him. Simple as
