      targeting is the main problem

Wouldn't Brimstone be a far superior choice?

        Anonymous

Yes, which is why the actual vehicles being developed use that and not this hellfire cgi.

          Anonymous

JAGM is being proposed but that isn't better than Brimstone either, doesn't actually exist yet and Brimstone has already been proven on Boxer anyway. Given the similarities i can't see why you couldn't make it modular so it could use all three.

Why? It's a moronic idea unless you want a secondary vehicle to do the targeting for you. There is nothing to cope about here.

The suspension wouldn't handle it. The launch system isn't that compact, and hellfire is pretty bad in ground launched mode.

1st one is the original manned Lance Turret.
2nd is remote controlled Turret, which is also used by the Puma.
Both of these use the German 30mm autocannon.
3rd is the israeli option (its a israeli Turret and supposedly far cheaper.) The Samson Turret supposedly had mad integration problems initially, but are all sorted out now. Also Samson Turret can be outfitted with M242 25 mm gun, the MK44 30 mm gun or the 2A42 30 mm gun.

Ok, I get the modules system, but how tf do they change the mode of conveyance? Tracks and wheels follow completely different drive trains, suspension and components. How is that a hot swappable item?

Can hellfires even be vertically launched?

Sure, if you don't particularly care exactly where they land.

I personally like the idea of a driveby. You open the hatch, point nose at enemy, slam on the throttle, and just drive around launching hellfires into the air near their position.

Apache pilots aren't against using a hellfire to kill a single taliban soldier. I've seen multiple videos of it being done. That's 120k to kill one goat fricker.

I think putting this many expensive missiles in a vehicle as vulnerable as a single boxer is a bad idea. What about 72 fpv drones with a small charge?

Minor thought out of my ass, vertical launch is disgustingly unsubtle, and I'd be cautious about pairing it with any "must-stand-still" command system, let alone beam-riding.
