    >X-22
It most likely was a Kh-32 though, it's essentially a X-22/Kh-22 with a smaller warhead so it has a larger range and bit of an electronics update, which apparently achieved to nothing as we can see with the mall. The black part on the nose of the Kh-32 is smaller than on the Kh-22, making it possible to distinguish them from each other.

Forgot the picture. Ignore that the Kh-32 is painted red, it's from a test.

This might shock you, but the russians lied. Terrifying isn't it? Nowadays you can't even trust kleptocratic warmongers that are prone to lying anymore.

I mentioned this in another thread, but the Kh-32 guidance is intended to hit "radar contrasting" targets. Which would explain why it hit a large rectangualr, metal-lined building and a yard full of road-maintenance machinery and metal junk.

Which really highlights how Russia uses those missiles in full ignorance of civilian vicitims. They could have reduced the risk of hitting civilians by like 90% by firing the missiles at night.

its not ignorance, they specifically want to damage morale by hitting civillians. its literal terrorism

No, moron theyre not 'aiming' at the Shopping Mall - the whole town is metal industrial sheds, they're just 'area-bombing' to hit general industrial capacity like USAAC/RAF in WW2 Germany - the Kh22 is designed to seek a USN Aircraft Carrier on the ocean, the mall probably just gave off a fluke radar return by being a big steel box amidst the general clutter

How much more Soviet junk do they have in inventory? Are they going to start buying Nodongs or something when they run out of 60s Soviet anti-ship missiles?

      Anonymous

Tons. In 1991 Ukraine had 1600 Kh-55 left from Soviet stocks, those are land attack cruise missiles (the Kh-22/32 is not)
The USSR in the 80s had unironically far more smart missiles than Russia in 2022, and would have missile spammed the hell out of NATO.

Of course many were scrapped, rusted or were dismantled and sold on the black market, but we're likely talking about dozens of thousands of such weapons, plus those made after the collapse.
Just imagine the overall number of guided and unguided missiles remaining in Russia.

      Anonymous

The Soviets made a ton of ammunition and the like but the fact that they're burning through a lot of said stockpile for marginal gains and zero ability to restock a modern inventory quickly is going to hurt them for years to come. Had Ukraine capitulated in their original timeframe, I 100% believe that they would've been funneling a ton of materiel over to the Finnish border right after, but with how much resources they've spent on Ukraine, Putin's going to be long dead before they can even reclaim a quarter of their spent stockpiles.

This is pretty much NATOs "plan" at this stage.
        >Ukraine can hold itself but cant 100% push all Russians out or regain Lugansk Donetsk Crimea
        >Nato wont bankroll a Ukie invasion to take Moscow WW2-style even if they had the capacity because the fear Russia would go Gotterdamerung with nukes
        >give them 4 HIMARS and token 155 SPGs to keep 'success' going but not 'total victory'
Bleed down Russian heavy-weapons stockpiles until they are no longer a serious threat to Nato
        >then theyll convince Zelinsky to negotiate a settlement

          Anonymous

          >Duhhhhhh the war is just a HATO cynical ploy to 'bleed' Russia

To any Ukrainians reading this, America and the UK want Ukraine to win. Fully. We care about Ukraine. If not for Russia's nuclear weapons, we'd already have troops fighting with you. 4 HIMARS is just the start. More are on the way. Your country's sovereignty and choices are paramount

To the poster I'm replying to, you're either a Russian shill or hopelessly cynical

            Actually its (B) hopelessly cynical
            >Polacks are buying 500 HIMARS, the Ukies are getting given 4 - just enough to be a demonstration to other customers, but nothing near enough to actually revolutionize the war

The trouble with HIMARS is resupplying the missiles. Each rocket pack weighs 2 metric tons. It's incredibly logistically taxing if you're already in the middle of a war. One day's worth of fire missions for 1 truck could use up dozens of missiles if you had it operating continuously

              Here's a primer:

              https://www.dailykos.com/story/2022/6/1/2101780/-Ukraine-Update-Not-enough-Here-s-the-challenge-of-moving-even-four-HIMARS

Yeah, I've done some HIMARS ammo handling - its basically an ISO Container sized box for 6 shots , or one big missile and transporting it then reloading is a b***h even though its included on the launcher truck.
                >its not something for cattle-truck tier logistics

                Actually its (B) hopelessly cynical
                >Polacks are buying 500 HIMARS, the Ukies are getting given 4 - just enough to be a demonstration to other customers, but nothing near enough to actually revolutionize the war

The Polacks will need about 2000 dedicated ammo trucks just to feed 500 HIMARS for a day.
Bet they dont buy them and just have 500 shiny launchers trying to resupply off random old Zils

poor you, you don't have coca cola mc donalds and IKEA anymore! cry me a river
      >and you have to understand ukraine did this to donetsk for 8 years
Please shut the frick up. 8 years of war 3000 dead civillians in total for both sides.
Mariupol bombings alone let THIRTY THOUSAND (30000) CIVILLIANS KILLED IN 3 WEEKS.
      >they have right for determination
They have the right to frick off to Russia and never come back if they don't like Ukraine.
Russia is big, it has the biggest territory in the world. Ressources, many of them extremely rare and precious. Russia doesn't need more land.
      However Putin needs more PEOPLE.
And that's why he invaded. To enslave ukrainians and send them in Siberia to populate the steppes with russians so the chinese aren't tempted to snatch parts of the russian territory.
Because none of you west-Russian dwellers want to move to Kamtchatka or Kuril islands.
Only 7% of your population lives east of the Ural. Pic related.
THIS is the true reason for the war.
THIS is why Russian has kidnapped ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND ukrainian children.
Putin want subhumans slaves to populate eastern Russia. White slavic ones preferrably.

The problem is ukrainians are better russians than russians themselves.
That's why russians are jelly. They're jelly that their ukrainians "brothers", that they always considered moronic, are doing better than russians themselves.
      So you have two choices:
      1. embrace the true russian soul that has nothing to do with anything that happened in Russia for the last 250 years, and reclaim your freedom and your land from the mongol hordes
      Or
      2. become China's b***hes.

        >And that's why he invaded.
Since people seem to forget, there were gasfields found and sold in east Ukraine in 2013, these gas fields were large enough to challenge Russia's role of being the biggest exporter of gas to Europe or at least partly supply Europe with gas, giving them an alternative. If Russia didn't started the war in Ukraine in 2014, Ukraine probably would have started to export their own gas by 2014. The largest one is in Donbass Oblast.

          Anonymous

Shell signed a huge deal to develop a gas field out there — but they pulled out of the deal thanks to the war going on nearby. Putin’s quick action in 2014 saved his bacon. Nordstream 2 was their play to bypass Ukraine entirely but the West refused to let them have it and killed it in late 2021. Several months later Russia invades. It’s literally all about Putin securing gas revenue for his oligarchs.

            Anonymous

            >Nordstream 2
Was killed on 22 Feb 2022, specifically because Russia was staging on both the Russian and Belarusian borders to invade Ukraine.

Russia occupied Crimea in 2014 to absorb a population of 4 million, confiscate Ukrainian ports and ships, but also occupied and immediately began to exploit all the oil & gas fields associated with Crimea, in particular under the Black Sea territorial waters that came with occupying Crimea. All of that is Ukrainian resources, including Ukrainian infrastructure built & financed by Ukraine. Pure profit for Russia, complete loss of resources & profit by Ukraine.

Donbass is secondary in discovered resources. Since 2014, the possibility has been observed that it might not be, but it is yet to be proven. However, denying these resources to Ukraine is the primary objective to keep Ukraine in crushing poverty while Russia sucks them dry.

Um…how does a missile that old still have a working working warhead and fuel? The fuel I guess might be possible to replace via maintenance features if those exist. But the explosives would have broken down by now. Are they just relying on burning rocket fuel to do the damage? All the electronics, gyros, fuses, etc still works? Seems….kind of strange.
