Would these small recon helicopters make a difference for Ukraine.

Would these small recon helicopters make a difference for Ukraine. They look perfect for harassing the enemy at range and for special forces raids. Finding good pilots and maintaining them is the only issue I can see

Russia has 500 foot tall supersoldiers that can pick up one of those like a toy

Actually, this fake news has been debunked. The Russian super soldiers are only 300 feet tall.

They would be useful for SOF, liaison etc. as any other light helicopter, but the combination of a good EO system + hellfires would make them pretty decent at night raids

Pointless by now. Harassment and raiding was name of the game 6 months ago, now everything is consolidated into recaptured areas its just going to be artillery on advancing conscripts. Its not like they don't already have helicopters anyway.

I think their best use in Ukraine would be to load them with Hellfire Missiles. Drone scouts ahead, finds massed armor, they come roaring in at treetop level, fire their missiles and beat a quick retreat.

what massed armor? they don't have any anymore.

It's called nap-of-the-Earth flying, it is done to avoid radar detection. You should read up on it and helicopter tactics in general.

This is what I get for trying to be helpful and informative.

You're a fricking moronic piece of shit. They say there's no such thing as a dumb question, but ooooooh boy, you prove people wrong daily, don't you?

            >radar doesn't quite work like that anymore
And how does radar work according to you, you dumb fricking shitheel moron?

            >I bet you also think "dogfighting" is a thing
It is a thing, it will still be a thing long into the future as well. Because while detection technology has advanced to the point where most engagements will be at long range, there are still situations you can find yourself in where you get jumped by an enemy plane in close range.

moronic ass noguns Black person homosexual.

Why do you think the Apache Longbow had the radar above the main rotor? So they could hide slightly below the treeline with the radar poking above the trees searching. Once it found something, it would pop up and shot.

Yes it does. Nap-of-the-earth decreases your detection range and the time AAA/SAM has to react.

Why is it called nap of the earth?
The ordinary meaning of "nap" is to doze off during the day. The secondary meaning is "to be off-guard". Hence, the phrase "Catch them napping". Flying by the "nap of the earth" refers to the practice of flying low to the earth (undetected by radar) to catch the enemy by surprise (or "napping").

Little birds were perfect for flying over barely-armed ME rebels without AA systems. In Ukraine they would be death traps.

Not really. Everyone talks about SAMs and MANPADs like they are some everything proof shield that btfo's everything but if that were remotely the case there wouldn't be a 7 month ongoing air war. Yes, they will take some casualties over time, everything on the frontline does but with well-planned operations those Hellfire missiles will do a lot of damage. I think it is a little silly to write them off.

they were flying those fat frick Mi-8's in and out of Mariupol though a fairly deep chunk of Russian-held territory right until they were trapped in Azovstal, the MH-6 is a lot smaller and quieter than that.
Even now they keep flying units behind the line to blast the retreating convoys when the main push comes, so little birds would only be marginally better than what they're already accomplishing.
Training pilots, maintenance crews, organizing spare parts , probably not worth it at this stage
