To be considered a minor naval superpower a navy needs a minimum of 500,000+ tonnes of submarines + carriers + destroyers + frigates + corvettes + landship ships
To be considered a midsized naval superpower a navy needs a minimum of 1+ million tonnes of the above categories
To be considered a true global naval superpower a navy needs 3+ million of the above categories
So today:
US and probably China are true global naval superpowers, maybe Russia is midsized superpower but probably not
France is closer to Botswana navy than to the US navy
Every other nation is below 500,000+ tonnes of submarines + carriers + destroyers + frigates + corvettes + landing ships
Also, nuclear propulsion and weaponry are required to be considered a true global naval superpower
