For me it's the "I expected nothing and was still let down" but with existential dread: Dude starts out being a nobody and sorta fine with it. He has his little apartment and his little holo-wife. Then he learns he might infact be the messiah, gets his hopes up and starts looking for answers. Maybe his life has meaning and importance? A further couple hours later that is all shot down, he experiences the loss of his "wife" and he's back to being nobody but now with the aftertaste of how it would've felt if he hadn't. If that wasn't bad enough now he learns his would-be soulmate just acted according to her programming when she named him, cared for him and said she loved him before she died. It meant nothing more than a dishwasher doing the dishes. It's the one-two gut punch. He didn't even get to keep the self-illusion that Joi meant what she said

That's my take anyway, a sharper mind with a different perspective might make something else of it

Anons, I've thought about this scene for a bit and come to a conclusion. If you saw two people who were so madly in love with one another's appearances, that they just started fricking and pumping out babies immediately without regard for what the other's personality, traits, or beliefs are, is that love? Is that a real relationship? Is an newly minted E4 going out and getting a stripper pregnant "real love?"

Hell, are animals sentient? Isn't sentience required for love? Does your dog love you or is it millennia of breeding and training? Isn't our desire to go out and bang b***hes and pop babies also the result of a hundred million years of eukaryotic conditioning and adaptation? In the end, I don't think the state of something matters if you're trying to determine "real love." It all started with cells and single celled lifeforms carrying out the functions coded into their DNA. Why the hell should I deny an AI the right to call their human coded functions love? We all started out with biological imperatives coded into our beings millions of years ago. All I see in front of me is another being, going down the same road we're all going down, carrying out the functions coded into their being passed down by their intellectual, technological ancestors.

What matters is wholly writing off any one thing's ability to feel and to think because of its nature. It's a dick move and the root of all evil. Because we can all justify doing whatever we want to anything that isn't "real." I think at the end of the day, my soul would feel more at peace if my mind were foolish, rather than evil. In this cold, cold universe where we may possibly be the only thinking life at all, the benefit of doubt is a small price to pay.

No, real primitive people would be too suspicious of an outsider. Especially if he came from the enemy faction. Natives, be they alien or human, were just as violent, xenophobic and genocidal as the wyt man. In a profession of homosexuals, Rousseau reigned king supreme.

no, the technologically superior opponent would do what white settlers did to the indians and level entire forests for sightlines to prevent ambushes, hunt their food sources to near extinction and force them into pockets of containment with the threat of genocide

A modern solution too would just be to introduce so much food and resources valuable to them through industrial output that we get them addicted to our economy and then we culturally shape them into a worker class to help mind Unobtanium or whatever the frick.

Yes. It's even arguable that his only real use was telling them how human technology worked and how to exploit its weaknesses.

As for strategy, tactics, etc. Any people that participate in war (which the N'Avi did even before contact) learns the fundamentals of war fairly quickly. Even by our own standards was has not changed all that much other than the tools used to wage it.

There are simply some brute facts that hold true no matter what. Number, moral, troop formations, positioning, range, lethality, weather, the element of surprise, and so forth. Are quickly understood even by the most primitive of people.

depends on the marine but in general any WHITE marine would be able to yes, the hispanics would only be able to after forcing all of them to learn broken spanish and 3 weeks of non-stop lifting sessions with whatever heavy junk they find lying around.

I hate these threads because the villains in the movie are a private corporation with ex military mall cops that according to the background lore aren't even allowed to have military grade weapons. You'd know this if you watched the 1st movie where as part of the plot they had to jury rig a ghetto bomber with some pallets.
