Half of the defense budget is stolen by politicians, half of the remaining budget is stolen by generals and politicians, the rest doesn't matter much because Russian industries are fairly dependent on Western shit and it's rare to find since the sanctions started in 2014.

Remember all those people back in 2014 talking shit about how the sanctions were useless and wouldn't do anything?
              They were wrong.

Its in a funny place where they basically cobble together shit with frick all budget and held aloft by external arms sales to other countries. They get israeliteed so hard by Russia itself that just waves its arms over the swathes of ghetto 50-60 year old shitboxes and cold war birds and figures, you know, its good enough for now and we'll spend the money on ourselves for a while.
Like they go to all this expense, effort and not some small amount of ability to make stuff that will fit into the doctrine, all the way up to the prototype stage and the Rus military says, yes, yes this is very good we would like some. Then they begin to formulate up the production costs and the Rus military is like oh frick no, nope, too expensive!
So at the end of the day, they're lumped with these fairly complicated, horribly expensive prototypes that probably cost some fricking stupid amount of money, but they're kind of stuck with them because they can't sell anything good to the street shitters, the Africans are poorgays and that just leaves a handful of tiny, tin-pot shitholes that will neither have the money or the state tells them they can't sell 'secret stuff' off to the riff raff.

The rest is just corruption, theft and the usual homosexual sovieticus behaviour when the knuckle dragging morons in charge just exist to get rich, no one gives a frick about defence and the rest of the country is whipped dogs

Socialism collapsed and there was no profit motive for the mafia to launch spaceships. I think they did eventually sold it to a museum in Germany though.

Could Russia have pulled off their Kyiv thunder run if these things were already mass produced and worked as advertised (lol; lmao I know)? Or would their shit logistics still screw them over? Let's define success as having a secure enough hold of the main governmental center to do a shitty victory parade.

Definately not. Russians are failing cause they're disorganized/ corrupt/ moronic not because they're tanks aren't killy enough.

It doesn't matter what tank you have if it's out of gas. You could have given Russia Leo 2A7s or M1A3s and they'd still have fricked it up.

Their thunder run failed not because of the tanks, they had better armour than the Hohols, but the Vatpiggers couldn't maintain even a basic military logistics line. All they'd need to do is send a bunch of trucks of diesel along the same routes as the T-72s but couldn't even manage that.
An absolute shitshow for the "second strongest" military.
I expect China to learn from this and triple down on logistics and unmanned drones.

What's supposed to be special about these things? It looks like a cheap chinese knockoff of an Abrams. Is it basically just their attempt at a tank that has some form of electronic components and isn't just a tractor lined with ammo?

It uses an unmanned turret with the crew in an armored box, three abreast in the hull. In theory the crew is safe from autoloader explosions, because the turret would fly off before the armored capsule is breached.

Threadly reminder that the biggest accomplishments of the T-14 has been proving that:

    >North Korea somehow took a T-62 and made it better than Russia's best experimental tank
    >North Korea can make a new and innovative tank while Russia cannot
    >North Korea can mass produce hundreds of new tanks, Russian hasn't made a new production hull in 30 years
    >North Korea took the 125mm and somehow made it better by removing every 'advanced' feature from it
    >North Korea can somehow design more survivable and relevant tanks than Russia, once again and i cannot repeat this enough somehow inexplicitly based on a T-62
    >North Korea can produce more reliable tanks than Russia as proven by them not catching fire while driving down a parade route

North korea has little or no electricity outside the capital and famines. Yet you believe what the Best Koreas tell you about weapons.

/k/ is a forum for people to talk about weapons, not a place for 12 year olds to use daddies computer. Let me guess, they don't really have nukes either they just faked the last six they set off?

Can’t wait for these to hit the front lines in a couple months.

Unlikely, Putin can't pay Kim enough to sell his only modern tank that is deployed in numbers. Russia will be buying upgrades and ammo for the 600 T-62s they claim to be 'modernizing' from the DPRK, the North is the only producer of parts in the world as well as 115mm ammo. Notably the 115mm AP Russia has in storage is utter garbage, they need NK ammo if they want to fight another tank.

        [...]
I can't speak at all to the (likely fake) capabilities of them but internal claims and external analysis seem to agree that North Korea has whipped up at least 2,000 brand new tank hulls in the last 30 years, which seems like it is probably more than Russia, since Russia does literally nothing but use and sell tanks from 50+ years ago

More like 4-5 hundred with their older stock T-62s getting new turrets, it is still basically a completely different beast.

        >PokpungHo-turret-detail.jpg
When you think the logo is shopped in, but then you noticed it has a tear and realize it's actually out of cardboard and glued to the tank. <insert joke here about how backwards north korea is how they cant even shop a logo in a picture, but must use cardboard instead>
Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

You have NO IDEA the level of speculation and theories over that logo and what it 'might' be hiding, its a anniversary celebration logo nothing more.

It can drive for a couple of minutes over small bumps while screaming at the driver to stop

That's sort of the funny thing really, you wouldn't shop for a new car that was based on a now 60 year old platform, got its last update 19-20 years ago.
Well you might if it was extremely cheap. or free

Don't forget... they know the score when it comes to armoured warfare and its tractor simulators

        >Looks at picture carefully

        Wait wait wait....

So half the upper hull and the entirety of the top of the turret is protected by 1/4th inch of armor held on by sheet metal screws? Because that is what i am looking at. You can see a seam behind the commanders head in the turret glacis which is.....1/4 inch sheet metal. Huh?

Both my universities had a set up like that, it's a teaching tool for mechanics. Pretty much any decent university or tech school has those. It is a 'simulator' of sorts, it simulates drive problems and the student has to figure out what is wrong from the simulated symptoms. It isn't backwards it is actually a damn good sign your nation has it's shit together.

          >we will never see that sexy thing blowing up its load
          just sad...

          To extrapolate:
We can clearly see that the front of the T-14 turret is protected by 5mm of sheet steel, roughly equal to the weather shroud the DPRK uses to keep rain off of it's ATGMs.

The Pokpung-ho V has a about 80mm welded composite armor add on in front of a welded composite armor glacis at least 3x that thick for a combined total of 320mm of composite armor, roughly equal to twice that of rolled steel or 640mm.

640mm divided by 5mm=the front of the Pokpung-ho's turret has 128x more armor than that of the T-14.

Its' nots exy though its just a big lump. I've seen the inside of one. Its a mix of 12 inch lcds from 1997 playing cheap chink cctv cmos inputs and what looks like an explosion at an AC factory surrounding everything. The thing is a heap of junk.

Don't be sad. It was never destined to be real. Only thing Russians would really adapted as T-14, it would be just budget version of T-90 in redesigned shape.

Armata is simply a failed design.
It will quietly go down the drain, like so many other prototypes that didn't prove their worth.

It will never be mass-produced. Just like T-95 or the T-80 Black Eagle. If any are ever produced, they will be relegated to protecting Moscow (but instead will end up being used in the coup against Putin). If Putin dies before it's finished, the only Armatas ever produced do the needful and get exchanged for curry rice, makki ki roti, sarson ka saag and smoked pork.
