Will the AK ever be replaced as the most popular Assault Rifle around the world? Posted on May 24, 2023 by PrepHole Contributor Will the AK ever be replaced as the most popular Assault Rifle around the world?
there will be AKMs on mars
Anon you seem new around here.
Do you know the difference between an AK-47 and an AKM? An AK-74?
Because it seems like you just googled a picture and asked a sorta time-wasting question.
That said I'm happy that a slavic bumfight thread died for this lel
Thanks for reminding me AK fags are just as spergy and gay as AR fags.
>Anon that's a picture of a Mk 18 and you're referring to ARs. Do you even know the differences between the Mk 18, Mk 12 and SDM-R are?
>akshully that is not an AR-10 which a pattern and a name trademarked by Armalite what you meant is a DPMS pattern large frame AR style semi automatic sporting rifle
You must be fun at parties
Bong women are the stuff of nightmares
>not mentioning the major changes of the AKM
Gay take, they're all an AK. Until you start spouting technical manuals reading in cyrillic script, then go fuck yourself. AK47/AKM is 7.62x39, 74 is 5.45. If you want to go over what defunct East German/Polish/Balkan build you're fucking around with at the current moment, then fine. Otherwise I'm tired of this midwit "well, acthually," take.
But anon, are yugos then AK47's/AKMs? What if they are chambered in 5.56?
Fuck wrong pic
ask the talibans
Something will eventually eclipse current-day weapons so hard that anyone who can upgrade will do so, reaulting in slow and sure replacement, but AKs still will persist in third world as long as the old stock remains usable. Even when the time comes that it will start getting obsolete in proper military usage, it will still be good enough for guerrillas, gangs and all kinds of poorfag armed groups.
Well, it seems that both militaries and civilians are moving away from them.
All the Eastern European and Nordic countries that use AKs want to switch or are in the process of doing so. As for civilian sales, ARs are outselling AKs in their own countries. Here in Central Europe the civilian AR-AK ratio is something like 15/1.
I'm pretty sure we're actually approaching that moment
There were about 100 million AKs ever made
Most of them are from pre-1970. They're going extinct. Very slowly, because there were so fucking many of them to begin with, but it's happening.
As of 2021, there were an estimated 25 million ARs in US civilian hands; another 10 million M4s and M16s scattered around the US military. That's one country.
The lines have got to be intersecting by now.
I wonder if the Chinese gun will become the new AK for the third world. Although afaik they're not exporting them widely like the AK.
>there were an estimated 25 million ARs in US civilian hands
we need to at least double this
It was "5 to 10 million" in 2011
it took me too long to realize the whole image was flipped there. They don't make aks for lefties lmao
>There were about 100 million AKs ever made
that number sounds quite overstated. in russia itself produced 10 million AKMs and 5 million AK-74s, plus some insignificant amount of AK-47s and AK-74Ms/100 series. Even if other countries combined produced 2x as many AKs it still comes to around 50 million units, and i highly doubt there were countries who outproduced russian AKs.
With most AKs ending up in africa and middle east after the cold war they're likely at the end of their service life as they're usually scrapped after the barrel is worn out or if they start rusting badly which doesn't take a lot of time at all. The rest of the non-trashed stocks are going to be used up in the current war if they're not already like we've seen with rustbucket-armed mobiks.
Multiple countries went ahead with replacing AK with more modern rifles in the recent years and the trend will likely continue so we might see the last uptick in the number of AKs in circulation as these nations sell off their old stocks but there isn't likely anything for AKs beyond this point.
It's already happened, anon. AK parts kits are the most expensive they have ever been - there is barely any supply now.
That's just US who've always been stingy with AKs, i'm talking more about the prsence of AKs around the world, particularly in africa, middle east and similar warring shitholes that made AK famous.
AK-47 is the true king of war and will remain indefinitely
Highly doubt it.
>Will the AK ever be replaced as the most popular Assault Rifle around the world?
It's not popular, it's just something we have to deal with.
It's like saying shitting is popular just because everyone does it.
pooping gives me simple joy. sometimes i'll eat a lot of sussy foods so i can look forward to a unique and stimulating shitting experience. my favorite procedure is eating 100 dollars worth of sushi, and maybe some taco bell and shitting in the bathroom at target. i'll shit in one toilet then waddle over to the adjacent stall to wipe my ass so the original shit is unblemished with toilet paper. no, i don't flush. my perhaps greatest shit was after ten days of constipation i went to culvers and absolutely filled the toilet bowl. the volume was incredible. the first ~12 inches of shit was the plug. thick as fuck, and once i expelled it, the rest of the shit came out in a continuous deluge. i tried to flush, because i like culvers, but there was never any real hope that basketball-size pile of poop was going through that pathetic drain.
it already has, there's probably more ARs now than AKs unironically. PSA made sure of that.
