They might be pre-580 series, the early mini-14s had pretty poor accuracy. Not sure how bad they are and I can't remember if it was all the time or just a thin barrel that'd heat up after a few shots but it could be partially fixed with the accu-strut. Whenever mini-14s are mentioned on /k/ people say to avoid the pre-580s so I wouldn't be surprised if that keeps the prices down.
They made sense when the ar15 wasnt as ubiquitous. Nowadays, the only reason to get one is if you're living in a cucked state that bans "assault rifles" or you just really like the gun.
tbh I liked the models with the exposed op rod. They're peices of shit that will choke and die if they meet adverse conditions anyway also they may as well have kept it sexy

I am one of those idiots. Not a lot of options in the “you want an AR but can’t legally buy one in your jurisdiction” basket. Fightlite is the same price or more expensive and Kel-Tec is a bit cheaper…but yeah, not trusting that.
Also, you’re all a bunch of poors if you can’t drop 1k on a real rifle. If I could own an AR is buy a Daniel Defense and those bastards are like 2k+ a piece.
Ruger being Ruger. The Mini-14 is PISS cheap to make, but when you're the only manufacturer and everyone else is making AR15's economy of scale starts coming into play.
It is entirely the fault of boomers
There's 3 for 500$ at my lgs, does that automatically mean there's something wrong with them?
That’s the going rate second hand. There are huge surplus batches that come out of the federal govt every few years.
Buy them and flip them, at that price you can make a small profit

Both heat and bad harmonics, the strut helps marginally with the first bur mostly with the latter
It's a cheap version of a gun that's 1. kinda expensive to begin with and 2. doesn't enjoy the same economies of scale as an AR so it was inevitable.
Different manufacturing from a different age. Same reason a good ak cost more to produce than a good AR.
>expensive
>can't take AR mags
>literally inferior to an AR in every way despite being twice the price of one
What the fuck was Ruger even thinking?

>get ARs banned
>make only semi auto gun the government will civs buy
idiots wont stop paying 1k for them new so Ruger has no reason to lower the price.

This is now a flex on poors thread. If the AWB ever falls in my ban state I'm buying a Wilson Combat AR. Hell, 2 of them. Because I can. Pic not rel.
Nice gun anon. I had one of those stocks once. Pick up the adjustable butt pad if you shoot standing, definitely worth it.
Whales and their coping
If you don't get ripped off on the reg it's because you're poor.

>Wood

>M1 action
>Ban state OK
Small Arms Solutions has a good video on it.
They are pretty gay guns
that's the price of quality
It's just a good, solid carbine.
t. ruger rep
they were cheap back when CNC machining wasnt something a single person could reasonably afford and the shittiest AR was 1000 bucks.
because you refuse to wait for sales, watch r/gundeals, or browse gun.deals and you have no patience.
garand dervived actions require a certain degree of machining. ARs would be just as expensive if it more if it wasnt for quantity of manufactering.
