I don't care about 'updoots', I care about dead russians. The more the merrier. As a western european moderate, I wish to send more air defense systems, ATACMS and preferably some tomahawks to ukraine, so they can kill more russians.

i mean it depends on what you mean by cost effective. a tomahawk or ATACM could probably fully bring down the crimea bridge. something a tiny loitering munition such as the shahed could never do

          100 shaheds vs 1 tomahawk, that's what I mean

            Anonymous

A Tomahawk can actually hit and destroy a fortified military target as well as take measures to avoid enemy air defense. 100 Shaheds may be good at nosediving into gas stations and playgrounds, but they're not getting through something like a hardened concrete bunker, assuming they don't get shot down by literal guys with AKs on the way there.

            Anonymous

I unironically don't think 100 shaheds could get through to the bridge, let alone damage it enough to bring it down. The bridge is well guarded against air attacks, shaheds are slow as frick, and the bridge is a much smaller target to focus defenses around than literally the entirety of Ukraine which is why a dozen or so of them can get close to Ukie cities; they're useless against mobile AND well defended targets, so they have absolutely zero real military use.

        >Not very cost effective
$20 is a lot more to someone who only has $40 than $10,000 is to someone who has millions. 'Cost effectiveness' is not just a function of flat cost, and we can give Ukraine just as many GMLRs as Iran can give Russia. Probably more. I don't expect Iran to be able to push these things out in the quantities they frankly need to be, and I'd be fricking flabbergasted if the flight control systems for the Shahed actually had the capabilities they'd need to be effective battlefield weapons (swarm control, etc). In reality the Shahed control box is probably nothing more than a command prompt that asks for raw GPS coordinates, and a red button that says LAUNCH in Farsi because they couldn't get stickers in Russian. As they are, the only thing they can do is be harassment and terror weapons that are too troublesome to intercept when there are still Kalibrs and Tochkas to intercept.

I think to be on the safe side Russia will just continue with the destruction of Ukrainian dual-use infrastructure (just to be sure) as they can't exactly trust media reports from Ukraine and the west that "it's obviously not working." It worked in Desert Storm so surely Russia is at least as smart as Americans to take out that infrastructure (again, just to be sure).

Hopefully outdoor lines in Kiev this winter, for water and food, don't get too long and don't get too cold. I'm sure songs of bandera will unite the ukraines and tiktok will reward them for their efforts as they slowly return into the stone age.

Russia's are collateral damage whilst engaging in a limited defensive intervention to right the wrongs of Ukraine's "j6 moment" in 2014 which normalized nazi worship in Ukraine. You are either pro-Nazi or anti-Nazi and it's never okay to be on the side of Nazis. Never.

America fights aggressive wars abroad which pose no risk to the US whereas Russia has a weaponized nazi aggressor state on its border killing its people for years now. Obviously this poses a grave risk to Russia and many experts have foretold.

                You cannot compare the two.

That's right, but every regional power does it. Russia does it, China does it, Turkey does it, and the US probably did it the most (South America, Irak, Afghanistan, not even mentioning the Indians genocide). Hell, even Europeans used some shitty humanist excuse to colonize Africa and Asia. History is written by the winner, it's all that counts. Being right or wrong only serves as an excuse to invade someone else or some way to cope when you lose. The only rule is power.

The big difference between this war and desert storm is that the US was able to decimate the Iraqi troops and complete their mission with minimal casualties, while Russia is stuck, has no manpower for any offensive and still doesn't have air superiority and took about 100x more casualties in the same amount of time. Terrorbombing the population seems desperate and not a show of force. Especially since they rely on donated drones to do so.

When we hit the Iraqi power grid, we hit it HARD with proper amounts of firepower, not this weak limp glorified flying lawnmowers with anemic explosive loads, when the US bombs a power station, its fricking gutted, which makes repairs infinitely more difficult to perform.
In contrast with the Micro V1 Buzz Bombs, which has enough power to knock out a power station, but not enough to knock it out for long.

      > nothing changed since the drones arrived
Well, there is no electricity in kyiv for 4-5 hours a day for a last week, almost every day.
As for shahed drones themselves, there were no significant activity since last monday(no explosions or gunfire heard, nothing fresh in the news).

What a superior piece of technology and engineering. We in the west should be absolutely terrified!

    Impressive.

With this most recent achievement, fate has in a single stroke, marked the decline of the west and spelled a new era of wondrous prosperity and peaceful global dominance for the Iranian goat, which promises to firmly stand in sharp contrast to the historically bloody ascent of western powers and the cruel subjugation it brought to the humbler nations of the world. With the blessings of Iranian quantum direct-current electricity, quantum aircraft carriers, quantum enhanced railguns, and quantum kamikaze laser shooting drones that fly at light speed will be the instruments with which Iran affirms its noble stewardship of 21st century world politics and offers the non-western world a different option; an humanist alternative to the depredations of Western leadership and the opportunity for a more equitable and dignified multilateralism.

Thanks to israeli Graft in the USA's Defense Industry we cannot manufacture a drone like the Shahed-134 to sell to the world.

The USA is going to have a tought time competing and selling cheap drones due to israeli Graft in the Defense Industry.
