why the fuck aren't we seeing these

is it that the targeting is fricked up?

if the targeting is fricked up, why? semiconductor issues? maintenance? engineering? production? jamming?

of all the aspects of this conflict that surprise me, the lack of Iskander strikes surprises me the most.

They've been launching them, they just miss because GLONASS is garbage.

I know they struck a few targets early in the conflict (the mall in Kiev) but I haven't seen anything else

I think they're just out, or they stopped bothering because they know it doesn't hit.

They've used some, but as we've learned about most Russian equipment, they don't actually have that many and they're inaccurate as shit because GLONASS is worse than GPS in every way unless you're north of the arctic circle.

the targeting system is fricked and russia can't afford to replace them along with all the other shit they've lost.

Russkies used most of 'em back in February and March, except for a batch they've been holding back as a reserve. They can barely build any new ones because sanctions.

It's only for when timing is critical. Probably means there aren't too many.

What was so time critical about 3 trucks parked in the will-call of a mall?

They're shit. Armenia claimed less than 10% of the ones they fired worked. When they do, they have shit accuracy.

Imagine taking one of the most precise pieces of modern technology and letting it rot for years, then slap it on the back of a truck that's falling apart and drive it through all kinds of bullshit and then expect it to work perfectly. Russia is beyond pathetic

when did russia manage to steal a bunch of US cruise missiles?

This. The Russian cruise missiles have been rotting for decades.

    They don't have many.

Russia has launched between 2 to 3,000 precision guided land attack missiles of all types from anti-ship to cruise to short-range ballistic, since February. This includes weapons ranging from early Cold War (Kh-22, 1961) to modern (Kalibr, 2015).

Is that a big number? Let's look at some comparators

The UK has a similar defence budget to Russia, and reportedly maintains stocks of something like 1,000 cruise missiles of comparable type, representing the investment of decades. The Tomahawk missile system in particular is most visible, as only the RN's submarines launch this weapon, and the reported stockpile is small, ~65 Tomahawks. In the past 27 years the RN has bought ~150 Tomahawks, based on news reports, or an average of 5-6 missiles/year. It is one of the most oft-used missiles in the UK arsenal, operationally.

The US has a budget about 12x that of Russia and 15x of the UK, and recently bought roughly 900 of the long-range cruise missile type. This represents 1 year of US defence expenditure. 900/12 = 75, 900/15 = 60, representing possible Russian and UK missile budget respectively, ASSUMING proportionate spending.

The Ukrainians claim that Russia has used half its missile arsenal. On the one hand, propaganda is propaganda and their numbers must be considered cautiously. On the other - they were a big part of the USSR complex for a long while. If anybody is familiar with the state of the Russian Cold War missile arsenal, it's them. If based on the Ukraine estimate we assume Russia has 4,000 to 6,000 missiles, 4000/60 years of production and 6000/60 = 66-100 missiles/year.

Inference - we can guess Russia can build maybe 66-100 guided land-attack type missiles a year, very likely something in the middle, 75, 80. They've launched ~2,500 missiles already - the best part of 3 to 4 decades of missile stocks.

Yeah, I'd say they're running short.

All in all, Russian stuff. Shitty weapons. They wasted a ton in the last attacks against the electric grid.
