Why is this multiple launch rocket system so effective? Never seen anything like it. Posted on April 29, 2023 by PrepHole Contributor Why is this multiple launch rocket system so effective? Never seen anything like it.
u know this will never work against china
preemptive stealth nuclear strike
You are retarded
>Ha, US only sending 15 HIMARS. This will never effect the war
>Every supply depot within 50k of the front lines gets destroyed
>Forces Russia to a crawl
>Th...this will never work against China.
the US and China will never ha e a ground war retard
they brainwashed their kids into thinking its the right thing to do, give it 10 years.
>Never seen anything like it.
it's literally half of an M270 (in service since '83) bolted onto a truck bed, so if you've never seen anything like it, I would like to suggest that you've never looked into this topic at any point in your life
>if you've never seen anything like it, I would like to suggest that you've never looked into this topic at any point in your life
Most hoholshills haven't.
>literally half of an M270
Why is it called M142 and not M135 then?
It's nothing special. Many countries have created similar or better systems. This is just the one the Ukrainians used, so it's getting a ton of airtime.
Who has a better system, not arguing just want to do more research? Also, is the targeting info the from the US what really makes it so good and other countries might not be able to match?
There isn’t a better rocket than GMLRS. PrSM is almost at IOC
what does that mean?
Initial operating capacity. It’s the ATACMS replacement
Initial Operational Capability. It basically means the program meets the basic requirements set out by the DoD for whatever it is that program is doing. They field it, test it, and refine if needed before moving the program into Full Operational Capability. Just means that it is almost ready for production, and implementation into the forces. Though, you could have easily garden gnomegled this.
>There isn’t a better rocket than GMLRS
EXTRA rockets are objectively better than GMLRS. Same range, guaranteed 10m CEP compared to ">15m" CEP, and 120kg warhead vs 91kg warhead.
GMLRS are much better. Not to mention ER and XR variants. I’m sorry that you were forced to cope so hard
As just shown, it isn't.
Your infographic is wrong. There is no source that confirms extra as having a smaller CEP than GMLRS. There is not much info on EXTRA because only 1 country operates it and no one wants to buy it. Everyone keeps buying GMLRS instead
Relies on American military GPS constellation
As does GMLRS.
No it doesn't. Satellite "aided". Not guided. Can be fired without satellite aiding. Results in 10 meter CEP. With a 10 digit mensurated grid results in 1 meter CEP.
>Satellite "aided". Not guided
Just like EXTRA, which also uses INS.
>Results in 10 meter CEP.
If so, Lockheed wasn't comfortable advertising as such.
>There is no system requirement for accuracy. The contractor specification is less than 15 meters Circular Error Probable.
>There is no source that confirms extra as having a smaller CEP than GMLRS
>EXTRA is a cost-effective, precise, long-range artillery rocket with a range of up
to 150km and an accuracy of 10m CEP.
>only 1 country operates it
Israel, Azerbaijan, and Vietnam operate it. Both Denmark and Netherlands have also purchased it.
Your link isn’t from a reputable source
GMLRS XR outranges EXTRA and is more accurate. PrSM is also better than the Israeli version
Interesting file name.
Now, have a seat, OP.
It's like a discount airstrike, and since the whole battlefield is saturated with S300s and Ukraine didn't have any other precision strikes it changed the game for them.
More modern US systems and that joint China-Belarusian system
TRLG 230. Has laser guided rockets. Can use drones to lock targets.
>Never seen anything like it.
Bot post flag^. Will mods notice?
Very good intel, precision and they're not so retard stay in the same place. Their small logistics footprint makes them harder to track.
it's just Russia being ineffective
it's nothing special but fires 6 rockets that overwhelms anti air
can reload anywhere
less dakka more boom
but really, the guided rockets made all the difference.
Hint: it's the missile.
Well it's also the high mobility part. Shoot and scoot is very important.
Given the range of the missile the only real advantage HIMARS offers over M270 is lower logistical footprint and air mobility in smaller planes. The ground mobility part is doesnt really matter.
It's all about information, if you think about it, if you don't care at all about collateral damage, a grid deleter strike is just as a good as a precision strike, but you need good timely information about targets to be effective.
vatniks are to black to shoot back at it
Yeah but unlike lolcets, himars are actually effective
Same reasons that bombs got so much more effective once cheap, reliable guidance options became available.
why are we pretending a decade old MLRS thats now on wheels instead of tracks with half the payload is this new invention?
The magic is in the ammo. and in pic related you'd have twice as much.
Dude, you don't get it. CNN said it was a wonder weapon. Are you denying a CIA, I mean CNN narrative my dude? I can't wait to tell me throuple about this. Also slave ukraine haha bing bing wahoo 🙂
>look, i build a straw man
Yeag its the gps guided missiles that make it into a monster, its just that M31 GMLRS is a but of a mouthful whole HIMARS is easy to say.
Also the HIMARS is the thing that people actually see. Which in media is a lot more important than 'akchuallee its the missile that it carries that is making the difference'
If you think about HIMARS as referring to the entire system, platform, weapon and all, then it makes a lot more sense
>The magic is in the ammo
There is even more magic in the intel
also true. I just don't get why the HIMARS is getting media attention the Ukrainians also received like 10 or so M270s.
HIMARS is the latest and greatest. If Big Army and the Marines had their way, they would do away with MLRS even though it is a more capable and sustainable system for Combined Arms Operations. The major selling points for HIMARS are air mobility and cost and therefore it is being pushed by the press that are being fed helpful information by the weapons industry and the DoD. Guaranteed that there is a money and budgeting connection to the hype.
Also, my understanding is the M270s they received are export versions and don't have the latest and greatest in fire control. I think the HIMARS they received are pretty much up to date. I'd also be willing to bet that there's a heavy amount of direct American involvement in Fire Direction, Targeting and actual operations of the HIMARS systems in country.
>more capable and sustainable
M270A1s are shitboxes that break down constantly.
HIMARs can at least be worked by 91Bs.
Well for starters it was developed on the assumption that the US would fight a bunch of insurgencies and third world dictators, that could place their military equipment in populated areas, so when those got bombed and civilians died, the dictator could go : "look at the evil Americans murdering innocents". So the accuracy requirement for the missile is pretty damn high.
Then you put that on a truck that can go pretty fast and pretty far. So for one it means you can avoid counter battery fire, by just fucking off after firing and a HIMARS that has a fire mission in Kherson, can be on the other end of the front and be active there by the end of the day
the M270 has been in service with every major NATO member since the 80s.
if you've never seen anything like the himars before you've been either born yesterday or have severe amnesia.
Yes, Captain Obvious. Very observant of you.
Yes, it is not MLRS. Too OP is, once again, a gay. You are too.
Lancet will make quick work of these
Dismounts with an underslung grenade launcher will make quick work of them. No armor on the LLM.
it was invented by white people. so it actually works and isnt moron tier
