Well the P-47 only has 800 miles of range while the A-10 has 2500, the A-10 currently has radar and IRST while the P-47 did not, and the fact that turbine engines like the A-10's turbofans are a lot more tolerant for fuels than the P-47's 18 cylinder piston engine.

      High priced junk

      Also high priced junk

why the frick would a ground attack aircraft need a radar

So they don't run into mountains when there's fog.

air to ground radar is a thing

This is the reason why the air tractor is being bought. Incredibly cheap to fly compaired to a jet, easy to maintain or to find maintenance crews. Lighter , im guessing faster too in some situations

Are turboprops any cheaper to run than turbofans though?

        Anonymous

Parts for turboprops dont have to have the insane tolerances thats needed for a turbo fan as those are operating at very high speeds and heat. Turboprops are smaller, simpler and have less complex parts.

You don't need a government to field low-tech, in fact it removes government.

Can US citizen own and operate armed vehicles and weapon systems? Sounds like something that triggers FAA, DOT, FCC all together.

They wouldn't cost so much to train if they didn't train in high-priced junk.

Instead they'll cost even more to train because they've got to calculate the lead on a supersonic target.

You're all homosexuals that should have been aborted 3 years after birth. Language is a unnecessary technological synthetic creation that only holds us back from the truest form of combat: Loud grunting and aggressive gesturing. Language created the technological sin of writing, which is an unnecessary waste of funds. Every moment you "educate" or "learn" a language and the "writing" part of it is every moment you aren't training boy soldiers to act like disposable human rocks, thrown from the womb at birth as human waves to overwhelm the enemy. The enemy would be too busy "writing" and then trying to "evolve" a radio while you frick human rocks into existence and stone your enemy to death.

Cavemen were the real land dominator fight matrix enemy cloud home causers and we need to move back from this gold plated technological homosexualry.

Your fancy WWII planes are also a gold-plated solution, good luck trying to AA a cheap drone swarm attacking from 1000 angles.

AA systems are too quick for the P-47 or anything that isn't fitted with a turbine, even terrorists can wheel out some modern guns if they need it. And you would never get air superiority, because every country worth its salt will be using jets. But I agree that having a large number of more traditional designs as an auxiliary would be good.
