Any historybros with images of tacticooled-out muzzleloaders?
I'm suddenly curious if there was a 1700s equivalent to the present-day "red dot aftermarket sight, laser pointer, and two different maglites bolted onto angled picatinny rails" mentality. The best I could think up was a bayonet + the lacquered box for keeping rain off a Tanegashima's slow match (picrel), but my gut instinct is there was some nobleman with a tricked-out wheellock or something.
I'm happy to look at present-day gag builds where somebody added accessories as an intentional joke, too, but I'm genuinely interested in any examples of historically attested unironic over-accessorization if any exist.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the National Museum in London have massive collections of incredibly expensive and gaudy firearms owned by rich buttholes over the last ~600 years and there are a huge number of wheellocks in other collections as well.

Lead balls out of a blackpowder gun make terrifying wounds, many times the balls pull a lot of material into the wound and shred more than stretch fleshy material. Id rather be shot with 9mm than a black powder gun

      Anonymous

That isn’t the case. The “terrifying wounds” were due to simple infection thanks to penicillin not being a thing yet. Minnie balls did cause serious wounds, but even then they were just maimed because they couldn’t deal with shattered bones and just decided to amputate like morons. That isn’t the case anymore.

This is true. They’re mostly made by hand so they cost as much as a good battle rifle (if made in USA) or at least as much as an ok AR (if buying an Indian muzzleloader).
