A fail-deadly device that automatically triggers the launch of the nations nuclear arsenal to pre-determined targets, without any human intervention. Basically, if anyone dares to do a surprise decapitation strike, retaliation is guaranteed and no one can physically stop it.
It's a fricking stupid idea for countless reasons.
>>any airspace violation
a doomer/terrorist could take his 172 and cause nuclear armageddon.
What if a pilot forgets to radio in the tower?
launch
how do you know if it's nuclear or just a rocket going to space, could be easily to disguise one as the other >>even a single enemy troop within your border for more than 24 hours
how would the system even be aware of this?
>Be even smaller country >Your 2 bordering bigger countries hate eachother and continuously try to control you to go to their side >On makes a doomsday device >Oh shit >Make false flag attack from other country >They wipe each other out
Problem?
>also wipes you and all other life on the surface of the planet out
The point of the doomsday device is that it destroys EVERYTHING with bombs too large and crude to even launch.

>destroys EVERYTHING with bombs
Literally not possible with current technology, you fricking doomers should actually learn a little science. Bigger nuclear weapons just means more of the energy from the explosion ends up in the stratosphere. That’s why the meme bomb Tsar Bomba was just Russian moronation. Most of it was ejected into the upper atmosphere.
You know, Russia has a radio station just outside of Moscow that's done absolutely nothing but transmit the same beep at regular intervals since the Cold War. It may of may not be automated, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was a fail-deadly trigger.
You know what ICBMs require so they still work? Money and maintenance, two things that buck broken Russia doesn’t have and can’t do. Some estimates put the failure rate as high as 85%, and that’s just for the rockets to fire, then you have to worry about actually guiding them to their targets and actually exploding. Russias all done.
Meaningful doomsday machine is at least a bunch of nukes and very expensive. Destroying Russia, the US, China, and Europe requires tons of nukes. The real doomsday machine will be when Israel steers a meteor into orbit and threatens to send it down if it is overwhelmed. Yields can be hundreds of thousands of times larger than the largest nuke.
>trigger russias dead man switch >only 3 nukes actually make it into the air >only one makes it to the target >doesn't do off because Ivan stole the fissile material and sold it to China 20 years ago
The deadmans switch concept makes more sense with neutron cobalt tsar bombas. Basically have it bathe the earth in radioactivity for years, you accomplish this by air bursting as many of these bombs as you can into the atmosphere. Doesn't matter where, course you would probably want to try to get them near your enemy at least. With enough of them, it is theoretically possible to kill the vast majority of life on earth with cobalt bombs but as far as anybody knows no one pursued this path, probably because it is utterly psychopathic and self destructive.
most countries know that if they try and build a nuke the USA will hang them by the balls and frick their economy for the next century. Hell we even do it when we know they don't have nukes.
define doomsday

Yes, I know the movie, but what is the trigger? Define the condition for the launches
>any airspace violation
>nuclear launch
>even a single enemy troop within your border for more than 24 hours

This is why you act like a complete madman and don't give them an inch.
so, gadafi mistake was to act like a moron before he had a nukes ?
Yes. Classic mistake

Can't get a signal for the nation's main public radio station
>bongs be like

>trigger
Ops mom not getting rammed by bbc
then we're doomed
Common humanity, Life wins : )
Soviet union literally built the strangelove doomsday computer (dead man's switch).
Best Korea might have one too, but I doubt it.
So what you're saying is there's a Doomsday Gap?
Meaningful doomsday machine is at least a bunch of nukes and very expensive. Destroying Russia, the US, China, and Europe requires tons of nukes. Sound like the Megalith from AC4 but it's asteroids instead of a meteor
>steers a meteor into orbit
Using what? The power of hummus and a spinning dreidel?
Need mo' money fo' dem yachts/welfare states depend on the system.
Russia probably has some dead-man switch but no one can be sure unless we try it out
>trigger russias dead man switch
>only 3 nukes actually make it into the air
>only one makes it to the target
>doesn't do off because Ivan stole the fissile material and sold it to China 20 years ago
The soviets did build one that's supposedly still operational, but who knows.
Israel literally has. Samson option.
