Why even buy a rifle with this? To me it’s an indicator that the rifle is poorly designed, engineered and/or manufactured to need some doohickey to make it work.

>Its another forward assist cope thread
*slap*
Yep, my round is chambered
>STOP DOING AR-15
>RIFLES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO SHIT WHERE THEY EAT
>YEARS OF SHOOTING yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for FORWARD ASSIST
>Wanted to go gas operated anyway for a laugh? We had a tool for that. It was called "PISTON"
>"Yes, please give me a BUFFER TUBE. Please give me a NON-RECIPROCATING CHARGING HANDLE." - Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged
>THEY HAVE PLAYED US FOR ABSOLUTE FOOLS
>RIFLES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO SHIT WHERE THEY EAT
???
newfag
No, just realized it's in reference to the gas system and not feeding like I initially thought.
>NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for FORWARD ASSIST
Rittenhouse used it
Yea because he didnt have this
Alright I'll bite snake oil merchant, what does this charging handle do differently?
it looks cool
Rittenhouse also used shit ammo in a bargain bin rifle. Good rifles can NOT induce a malfunction requiring the FA without being completely fucked with debris.
Isn't it still nice that your rifle allows the use of shit ammo in a pinch?
antifa homosexuals need to shut the fuck up. fa is there for a reason. even if you think it won't help because you're stupid and youtuber told you it won't.
oh yeah?
kyle said during a crowder interview he never cleared a jam. It just appeared so. FAKE NEWS
you're right he didn't clear a jam he used his forward assist to push the bolt into battery.
Wouldn't have needed it if he had this
>This shit again
have a nice day spammer homosexual
You are angry because he is right
Won't work if your thumb isn't callused up
Try using that when you got several ppl trying to attack you. The forward assist is pretty much a gross motor.
I like to pull the charging handle back then slowly ride it forward so it doesnt seat properly. Then I smack the magic button. Over and over and over. You seething will not stop me from doing this.
I do this but instead of pushing the stupid button I press on the scallop with my thumb and get my hand covered in lead and carbon grease
Oh hell yeah, I also do this but when my bolt is oily and searing hot. It's also great when it's freezing and everything is stiff.
if your bolt is hot you don't need to do that
I live in a jungle so I don't even know what this word "freezing" means
Lucky you, a frozen bolt is a bitch and a half. Gotta keep the ejection port closed so snow doesn't freeze in there
>To me it’s an indicator that the rifle is poorly designed, engineered and/or manufactured to need some doohickey to make it work.
Why don't you design a better rifle then?
you know the charging handle on an AK and many other rifles allows you do the same thing as the forward assist. And the forward assist was literally created to simulate pushing the charging handle forward.
>remove forward assist for harcore larpoperators
>add it back for nostalgia trend
SCAR NRCH deboonked the usefulness of a Forward Assist
NRCH model has a forward assist built into the charging handle assembly you fucking dipshit, not dissimilar to an ACR.
Imbecile. Smooth brain. Smh actually embarassing. Every good gun has one, just your shitty ak and the original scar chose reciprocating ch to kill 2 birds with one stone. You're welcome. Youre just a dumb idiot who doesnt know what hes looking at ever.
>Why even buy a rifle with this
its literally harder to buy an intermediate caliber rifle without a FA than it is to buy one with it.
this might be ground breaking news to you, but you could just not use the forward assist on your rifle, even though it is there. Wow so difficult for your autist brain to comprehend, i know.
Based answer. also, just admit you wanna fuck her already and move on, holy shit
projection
today I will remind them.
Just because you made something doesn't mean it can't be improved upon. May as well not use adjustable gas blocks, free float rails, carbine buffers, and adjustable stocks. Stoner sure as hell didn't make the AR with all of that originally. BRB, gonna smash that FA like I smashed your mom last night.
>be Stoner
>design a piece of shit rifle that got soldiers and Marines killed
>oh fuck I fucked up
>design AR18
>design so good it gets copied by everyone
my favorite part of the AR-18 is that it was designed to be cheaper and shittier than the AR-15 and then everybody copied it because it was cheaper and then they all charged more money for their bad designs
>bad design
No.
>stoner design ar18
Um... no?
he has his name on it and everybody knows his name so that's the one they choose to use
Stoner invented the AR16, which was the gun chambered in 7.62. He left to go to Cadillac gage. the guys at armalite took the design and scaled it down to 5.56, so it's still his design just as the AR15 is even though Sullivan scaled it down the AR10 to be in 5.56
a piece of shit rifle that got soldiers and Marines killed
Either boomer or retard who takes the History Channel at face value.
In 100 years autists on nu-nu-/k/ will shit on anyone who buys a vintage AR pattern without a forward assist.
You're doing this again? Are you trying to be the /k/ equivalent of PrepHole's anti-PCSX2 fag?
>I don't think he knows guys
I sawed off the handle on mine cause I thought that the feature of being able to push it into battery if I wanted or needed to was extremely stupid & very obviously a feature added by Mikhail to appease stupid pencil pushers in the MoD, I mean why did they have to go past the Type 1 AK anyways? It was perfect the way it was & stupid meta fags just had to pretend that they were John Wick & fuck the entire thing up.
BHO followers are a waste of money since all it does is tell you that you're empty or jammed & when you remove the mag, the bolt slams home unless you hold onto it. BHO safeties are only useful if at a range that requires you to lock the bolt back for safety & they just let shit get in the action too.
>type 1 was perfect in every way.
yes thats why the AK had the FA since day 1 retard
The bolt not locking to the rear can be fixed by using modern magazines. But other than that, yeah, the rest is true. However, no one should still be having the AK vs. AR argument anymore. If you don't have and know how to use both here in the current year, you're ngmi.
BHO mags are objectively dog shit and not a real substitute for actual bolt hold open
This. AR vs AK is like the 2002 forum “1911 vs Glock” argument
clean your baseboards anon
Not until it’s time to sell the place
Both good
You should strive to learn as many weapons as you can.
The dust cover holds zero on valmets and sakos without any issues. Also due to that, the sight radius is good on valmets and sakos. The paddle magazine release is superior in freezing conditions, since there isn't really a way for it to stop working due to a bit of ice build up. Yet a bit of moisture getting in to the button and freezing in there makes the AR unable to hold a magazine in.
>magazine release
What's wrong with the AK's mag release?
sight radius means shit on a 4-5 MOA gun.
ironically my most accurate AK was this one. 8" barrel and dogshit sight radius. This one shoots 1.5 MOA.
All my prior AKs were minute-of-pie-plate.
>sight radius means shit on a 4-5 MOA gun.
Which is another issue with original AKs, accuracy is shit.
The charging handle?
it's a useful safety device it doesn't take anything away from the rifle. shut the fuck up.
>t.karl kassarda enjoyer
based
he's my favorite retarded communist
IS THAT AN ASYMMETRICAL PART OF A RIFLE? AAAIIIIIIIEEE SAVE ME STONER
I once used the forward assist as a conscript, and it did what it was supposed to do. Though it was a worn out old rifle that had been taken out of active use, with a disposable plastic magazine that had seen years of reuse.
>Why even have an opinion about this? To me it’s an indicator that the person is obsessive, petty, contrarian and/or has no other hobbies to need some non-issue to get him attention.
>manufactured to need some doohickey to make it work.
AKs have these two there called the back of the fucking charging handle. Smack the back of the charging handle. Glock isn't chambering cuz you rode the slide forward like a retard? Smack the back plate. AR isn't chambering cuz you rode the handle forward? Smack the forward assist.
>shitty obselite AK47 has one so that must mean that futuristic M4 need one too!1!1!1
If we're being honest here, M16s are so reliable these days that we don't need that shitty little plastic toy button, all the marines that I went to basic with never used theirs even under field conditions & trust me on this one, We ran our riles hard, much harder than them damn homosexuals over at arg ever could.
Semper Fi
>his once a year range quals for guard duty is "riding hard"
lol, lmao
lmfao
Brother, I done did more than you ever could so sit your kiddie ass down
it's actually not that
it's just retarded design decision that was never actually needed in the first place, a solution looking for a problem, but now has been ingrained into people's minds that it's needed or necessary, and the absence of it is triggering weird "BUT WHERE'S THE THING" responses from low iq people
>Why even buy a rifle with this?
Chamber a round. Quietly.
How often do you have a reason to do this besides like never?
In my room, so my parents don’t hear
If you find yourself using it then it’s time to clean your rifle. That’s all it’s good for.
I'm saying that in case of some gunk in the way of the bolt, it's always good to have a button to force it closed. You can do it with every gun with a reciprocating charging handle, why not the ARs?
I've found them useful for closing the bolt and/or checking that its' seated on the first round after if I've ridden the charging handle for some reason.
However, I'm left handed and I can just hit it with the thumb of my trigger hand. I swear AR's were designed for lefties.
Sometimes I just like to push a button. When I'm holding my rifle and the I get the urge to push a button, what do you want me to do, eject the magazine?
I use the bolt hold open for this
sometimes I toggle the safety or play with my grip door
That makes sense but I'm left handed and forward assist is located perfectly for me. I really just love it.
use your left index finger to push the bottom of the bolt release
I do sometimes, not as rewarding, unless you're actually holding the bolt open of course.
Some of my various polymer mags don't feed ammo right before breaking them in. The forward assist helps because not every mag is going to feed right
>the rifle is poorly designed
it is (the charging handle is retardedly placed and the pic rail on the receiver is so fucking short that naggers cope by using cantilevered scope mounts).
That said, the button is useful for quietly chambering a round.
with the charge handle originally being reciprocating, what point would there have been for a forward assist? did the early designs have a forward assist?
the very early prototypes had a reciprocating charging handle
it was moved to its current position to mitigate heat related issues, which necessitated a non-reciprocating design
years pass
the Army demanded a forward assist as part of the changes they wanted before they adopt it as the M16
>still don't understand how FA work
>Why even buy a rifle with this? To me it’s an indicator that the rifle is poorly designed, engineered and/or manufactured to need some doohickey to make it work.
>OP doesn't know the real purpose of the FA.
Has NOTHING to do with forcing a round into the chamber due to being dirty. It's all about stealth.
None of you have watched the definitive video on the subject and it shows.
?si=tNky6HDqqT6Tkb1P
>mfw people still believe the forward assist has no purpose
still not buying your overpriced gucci rifle, Ian
Dude, they're like $700. Some are as cheap as $250. AKs are about $600
Overpriced. There should be tax credits.
It's actually an IQ test for underperforming shooters. If you jam on the FA to solve problems without first seeing what that problem is then you really shouldn't have a working rifle to begin with.
You know the AK has the exact same problem, right? If you've got a jam and try to force the charging handle forwards you'll mangle the brass and cause an even worse jam.
so uuuhhhhh why not just have a stronger return spring ?
FA is for military combat situation. You bench shooters wouldn't get it because youre practically a bedroom dweller
This is just why AK platform is what God himself designed
>have AK platformer
>it never jams
>so, to simulate a jam you put an empty shell in the chamber
>okay it jammed
>put the stock on the ground 45 degree angle and step on the charge handle
>no more jam
>alternatively dissassemble in 4 secs and assemble in 7 secs.
>never Jams
Only real fighting rifles have rittenhouse buttons.
Anyone that says the FA is useless doesn't know how it works and believes everything guntubers and reddit tells them. FA is for fixing simple failure to feeds where the next round didn't quite make it because you are in a harsh environment with other people trying to kill you and your rifle is dirty causing feeding issues. If you get a jam you observe what's wrong and if it's a failure to feed you slap the button, any other jam you tap and rack simple as that.
