Extended slide stops are the dumbest fad ever

I never touch my slide stop
Whenever the slide locks back I just put a new mag then tug the slide and it releases
The slide stop is kinda pointless

            Anonymous

They serve no purpose at all besides being an empty mag indicator. The bigger the slide stop, the more likely they are to cause malfunctions. There is no utility in them at all.

Can you provide any evidence that tapping the slide stop is any less reliable than pulling the slide back when chambering a round? I have never run into issues with it in any of the four semiauto pistols I have owned.

it's not really a problem on the gen 5 guns since I can just use my thumb but on the 43x it was harder to do because I have to use the knuckle of my index finger to push up on it. Having a bigger knob to press up on is easier. I don't use them to send the slide forward.

What company and how close is the cut to the extractor channel? Most companies won't even do that cut

my first choice was jagerwerks (they did my 19) but I asked them and got this response:
            >No- unfortunately the only optic we can machine the Glock 43X with MOS is the Holosun 407k or 507k.
chpws is the one I used.

I can't decide if I want to do it or not because the plate isn't really bothering me. That cut looks real close to the extraction channel but it looks like it's probably fine.

Why the pistol dot craze lately? It’s like the last 6 months the majority of handgun discussion is about optics.
They look gay and make the gun less convenient to carry so I’ll just stick with the the irons.
You guys can use them all you want but just know your gun looks gay.

      >Why the pistol dot craze lately?
Mainly because of the one mass shooting where the good guy hit his target at 40 or so meters so /k/eddit is jumping on this bandwagon now, it'll hopefully end relatively soon

I believe that dude used irons.

Red dots do offer some advantages, but it's contingent upon the shooter putting some serious time into getting used to it. I personally am not sure if they are worth the squeeze for 90%+ of shooters.

I don't need it to make 50 yard shots and its more work than its worth for a backup gun to a rifle or shotgun.

Because the slide isn't already cut for an optic, and I don't feel like spending $140 on cutting a slide when I could spend like $500 on a pistol that already has a cut slide and then I have two pistols.

Because quality iron sights are fast and accurate when you gain skill in using them, and they don't add an extra inch to the profile of your gun.
