Because most people don't want sticky handguns, nor metallic tasting pastries. It'd have to be separate from the gun area to work. Also in general most people have no idea how to run a bakery as well as a gun store or vice a versa and it's extra costs and overheads. Like if somebody is going to get a gun, they're not gonna go 'Boy I hope they serve doughnuts there too'. If somebody is going to get a doughnut they're not gonna go 'Boy I could sure use a new .45!'.

But hey if they make profit from it, good for them.

You absolute fricking cretin. You have made a mistake of the highest degree. A typo? You must be beyond the limits of mental moronation anyone has seen before. I pity you. Such a simple mistake such as this will haunt you 'till the day you die. Honestly you would be better of deleting this post -- no... deleting your account. Even that would not be enough to make up for the intolerable sin that is your poor grammar. I hope you use this miserable excuse of a typo as a learning tool for the future, moron.

This place would attract a lot of cops. Now, that could be a good or bad thing, depending on the area and your other customers. I wouldn't go to a gun store that was full of on-duty cops, but lots of fudds (the ones who get bumper stickers saying they donated to the Sheriff's fund) would love that shit.

This is probably the best point, every bakery I've been in has had a coating of flour, sugar and oil on all the surfaces. good luck keeping the guns clean.

I think it could work out since a lot of boomers treat gun stores like some sort of treehouse club room where they can just pop in and talk to everyone in the building for half an hour. It’s hard to get rid of these people but the employees may as well at least try to get a couple donuts’ worth of money off of them. Then maybe throw in a rule saying that once you touch a donut, you’re not allowed to touch the guns. The talkative boomers never buy anything anyways

Regulating who can sell food and what conditions the food has to be is just government overregulation that is stifling freedom and competition. If we got rid of the FDA, the USDA and whoever else regulates food, we'd have much cheaper and affordable food likely produced much better and more efficiently.

The FDA exists because they used but Borax in our food

Acksually the FDA exists because Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle in the 20s, which is supposed to make readers horrified by the deplorable working conditions, but instead scared common folks about food quality resulting in the creation of the modern FDA

Plenty of that here especially in anything to do with geo or environmental engineering. I'm going to assume you mean mechanical or aerospace and even then there's not exactly a shortage. Despite SD Mines being a pretty decent engineering school, most leave for Colorado or the coasts. We have no shortage of open engineer jobs, it just sounds like you had a bad experience with Rapid (understandable) and bailed.

This particular store is an ACE hardware store, the owner was asked if the had room for baked goods to sell by a local bakery that needed storefront space, the owner said sure, not realizing they needed display cabinets (thinking it would be like pre-packed on a shelf by the register), so when he found out they wanted like display space for the baked goods the only place in the store with cabinets like that was the sporting goods area, which also happens to be where they keep their guns. Leading to the picture we see in the OP.

I don't think this was a long term arrangement.

Having them as two separate kiosks with different people in the same store would be nice.

Having them combined into one like in OPs pic is so fricking moronic that I would never trust the person behind the counter, because anyone who could have conceived of such a blatantly stupid idea should never be allowed to handle firearms or pastries.

There's more money in serving bakery foods than guns, but it's autistic to combine the two since food inspections and standards must be a b***h to uphold due to constantly having to cycle between washing hands and gloves every 2 or less mins when someone wants to finger frick a rifle and someone then wants a donut.Honestly wouldn't trust a wagie to be clean under such circumstances tbqh

I used to do my transfers at a gun store/ liquor store.

Going in, I thought it was going to be a liquor store operating a kitchen table style ffl transfer business out the back.

It was not. It was like if you took a gun store and Liquor store and jumbled them up. The owner was dangerously based as well, but I guess that goes without saying.

Probably made to optimize space, perhaps it's near hunting grounds or whatever, and it better have to offer several categories that are useful to hunters.
