Why don't modern military soldiers try to look intimidating?

From the ancient assyrians, aztecs, vandals and visigoths, vikings, mongols, ww1 germs and ww2 japanese have worn helmets and uniforms and implemented brutal tactics to advertise their brutality and send fear to people with their looks. Now soldiers uniforms are just camoflauge without looking scary or intimidating.

Because it makes it very easy for the enemy to dehumanise you and makes the civilian population hate you or be feared by you. You want your soliders to appear professional and gentle but strong and firm so people have a hard time killing you and civilians have an easy time loving you.

      >Because it makes it very easy for the enemy to dehumanise you and makes the civilian population hate you or be feared by you.
But what if I want the civilian population to fear me and my men?

      >You want your soliders to appear professional and gentle but strong and firm so people have a hard time killing you and civilians have an easy time loving you.
You want the civilian population to fear you, you have to advertise yourself looking scary and implementing cruel methods of raping and killing

Because a dude 200 meters away isn't really scary because he wears bdsm biker gear but because he has a rifle.
    >and implemented brutal tactics to advertise their brutality
Getting cooked with white phosphorus is pretty brutal.

Fear is simply your body observing something and determining how big of a threat something is. Like says most times you see the enemy is as black silhouettes on the horizon so wearing BDSM gear isn't going to scare anyone. Many African tribes wore this kind of "scary" gear into combat and it either had an adverse effect and people mocked them for it or it had no effect at all. However there are soldiers whose presence strikes terror in the hearts of all servicemen alike, and that is this bastard.

Any person whose fought in a war against a developed nation knows how terrifying fire support can be, and the fact that you can be fine and dandy firing suppressive fire at a treeline 200 meters away, to being cooked alive by white phosphorous, shredded into mincemeat by artillery or turned into a pink mist from a JDAM. The truth is warfare has progressed beyond berserkers wearing edgy uniforms and the ears of their enemies, and one dude with rangefinder,m map, and a radio can do a thousand times more damage than any edgelord could ever hope.

the answer is obviously because looting is banned.

you dress fearsomely so the enemy will run away or surrender whereupon you can get rich with least effort. in current times, you can't grab their stuff anyway so you don't take the trouble to look scary.

this is also why wagner tries so hard to look operator scary. they can loot

What if I'm a drug cartel boss and I don't care if looting or raping or genocide are banned and we want the local population to dehumanise and fear us?

    >why don't modern military soldiers try to motivate the enemy to fight back harder?
I don't know, maybe because intimidation tactics, terror bombing etc. inspires able bodied men to join the military and fight until their last dying breath because they hate you more than they want to live? The worst thing you can do is hurt women and children and you can be sure the enemy will never ever surrender if you do that enough times.

    camo is very effective
dark greens are very good, but honestly most uniforms need auxillary pieces like tree branches that can be attached to you.
