Why don't everyone just get a slingshot with the same power as a .22 pistol? Seems like a cheap alternative.

Before the bow was invented, there was rocks.

The sling actually outcompeted the bow until very late, and the best bows and the best slings were about even.

Because I already have a .22 and it's not some joerg sprave plywood mass rape device.

Because "power" doesnt mean works as well as. A baseball has more "power" than a .45 in a lot of ways but that doesnt mean its a better weapon.

Memeing aside, are slingshots actually usable? Can you take small game with one, like pigeons and rabbits? Wouldn't mind packing one in my SHTF LARP kit.

      >Can you take small game with one, like pigeons and rabbits?
Absolutely. Though the learning curve is high.

Are there actually slingshots with as much energy as a .22(150J-250J)? sounds cool, but i can't see the mechanism to allow you to reach that energy. (unless it's just a fricking huge slingshot)

I'm sure what's being lost in translation here is that the slingshot has the same MOMENTUM as a .22, which is very different from "power" or "energy".

In theory, it is now plausible to make a spring-action pistol with power equivalent to .22. This would use 20v power tool batteries.

It is also plausible to get raided by the ATF by doing this, and it is also plausible that the ATF will shoot your dog while they do so.

They make air rifles as powerful as .22lr now and nobody is getting raided. There's even a full auto one.

Making a gun isn't illegal at the federal level still I thought. Can you not still make a pipe shotgun or are we just going full moron now?

    Because a slingshot won't kill a man at 500yds.

the main way bullets kill is from penetration through vascular areas, which causes bleeding
if the slingshot cannot penetrate the body it's unlikely that it would be lethal unless it hits something like the temple with an extreme amount of energy
