had an nd about a month ago in my apartment and I still think about it often. I live in a state where an nd is a felony and even tho no one called the cops on it I still worry that somehow the company who owns the complex I'm staying in will figure out and press charges(even though I patched the walls pretty well and the unit I'm in is already kinda trashed). I'm lucky my roommates weren't here while it happened. On another note, any semi affordable suggestions for cases for guns? only have a couple of my guns in cases, and only one of them is a hard shell case(a shitty one at that).
Don't feel bad, they've happened to me a few times
>At friends apartment at college.
>Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18)
>Drinking with friends
>Show them my new Jericho
>Try to manually decock
>Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.
Second time
>At range
>Showing friend pistol
>Think gun is unloaded
>Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger.
>Forgot loaded mag in
>Shoot between his feet
Third time
>At parents house.
>Just bought a sig from a guy
>Get home
>Try swapping slides with another sig I had
>Forgot the other sig slide was chambered.
>Pull trigger
>Shoot parents wall
Fourth time
>At my new house
>Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK
>Release bolt
>Slam fires round into ground
Fifth time
>Showing a friend how to use it
>No idea how but a round got chambered
>Show him how the trigger works
>Pull trigger
>Shoots round into floor in the same place as before
Sixth time
>Thought maybe the house was haunted
>Grab a sig
>Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in pull trigger at the same hole
>Round goes off
Seventh time
>Friend brings over a used
>Glock wants me to look over it
>I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it
>Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.
Eighth time
>Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10
>I had no idea how open bolt guns worked.
>He's showing it off to me I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt)
>Pulled the trigger for some reason
>Shot 3 rounds into my wall
Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to them.
bro stop touching firearms
newfag
bro that's copypasta. Also, I did have an "ND" once myself, though it was more intentional than unintentional
>be me
>buy my first gun, a 5 round semi-auto shotty
>buy all kinds of ammo from buck, to birdshot, to slugs & blanks
>but fast-forward 2 years and I still haven't even taken it to the range yet to fire because I couldn't find a range at the time that allowed shotguns (which I did eventually find)
>decide enough is enough and that I want to fire a blank in my house because lol it's just a blank right?
>put my ears on, load up blank, take aim at wall
>big bada boom
>wait why is there a hole in my wall
>oh fuck
And that's when my retarded ass learned that shotgun blanks still have a fucking wad that shoots out that can injure/kill you. Which in hindsight should have been quite obvious, but I'll tell you guys on PrepHole a part of this story I haven't told anyone else as it's not like I could keep that hole in my wall secret from family. And that's that I was kinda high on Ambien at the time and that definitely impaired my judgement.
But that's the only incident I've ever had with owning guns at least. Though as a teenager I did almost kill my neighbor when I was practicing my archery in my backyard and managed to slip an arrow straight between an incredibly narrow gap in my fence that went straight into my neighbors tree where his head had been not 5 seconds earlier. I'm very lucky that he wasn't super pissed.
>put my ears on, load up blank, take aim at wall
Dude, why the fuck would you do that inside? At least go pop off a round at a tree outside or something.
Lots and lots of neighbors, including children. I live in the suburbs so...
Anon, I didn't claim to be a smart person.
Works every time.
Hello, newfags.
Every hobby board needs to have a stickied post that says you should not comment before lurking for at least 3-4 months.

why do your guns have live ammunition in them always
when i play around with my guns drunk i do not use live ammo

This one slays me every time
Classic post
If you need a case, just get some cheap harbor freight cases. Don't need a good case unless you're traveling by plane, and have to follow gay regulations. And quit fingering your guns so much, especially if you're not going to check if they're clear.
Wonder how many retards actually ND and not worry because of retard memes like this (not this one specifically, because it's way too obvious lol).
You should not own guns. This is way too many ND's. You're a danger to yourself and those around you, and horribly irresponsible.
Hello newfag!

these are good cheap alternatives to pelicans.
>be my dad in the 90s
>bought his first gun, a 1911
>get drunk with his pals
>gives gun to one one them
>the friend NDs and shoots my dad in the neck
>dad is mostly fine, just a bit of nerve damage and lost of mobility in his hand
>same scenario a year later
>another friend NDs and shoots my dad in the kidney area
>dad keeps his gun in a safe forever
At least he eventually learned his lesson
Yeah, that's definitely not true, think about that for a minute. Go to some public land, stand 2-3 yards from a target, shoot the gun randomly. See what percentage of the time it lands within a torso+headbox sized target. It could happen once, but not twice. If you're telling the truth as you know it, I'd think hard about the stories your dad has told you about what he did as a young man. He's probably hiding some interesting stuff.
You fool. Now you've done it.
You don't need a case you need to triple double check that you unload your gun everytime you pick it up without the intention to shoot it. Retard. This is why we need more access to gun safety education for young kids, like 4H and Boy Scouts
Seconding this.
Every single time you pick up a firearm you open the action and pinkie check the chamber
Yes, every time
>I still worry that somehow the company who owns the complex I'm staying in will figure out
That bullet will always be there, waiting to be discovered. And they'll always have records of who lived in that unit.
i actually recovered it
I was just fucking with you man. But why do you worry that they'll somehow find out if you have the projectile? It's not like they're going to launch a forensic investigation to determine the cause of the damage that you already patched
tbh it's because this is the biggest fuck up so far in my rather short life, so I think I'm just overreacting lol. Parents told me they probably won't even bother asking what the damage is from
Don’t worry anon. You’ll have bigger fuckups to worry about eventually.
This because yeah you're a dumbass. At least mine was a training issue. I've shot guns and drilled so much that when I loaded and chambered my gun to carry it without fully paying attention, I loaded, racked, and fired as if I was firing at a target. I'm just an absolute fucking killing machine that had a brainfart. If it's any consolation I moved out and the complex never found anything, still gave me bullshit charges for other stuff. Apartments are like that, eventually they'll find the exterior hole and wonder how many years it's been there and not know which resident did it. Never admit to it, you don't know what happened and it was probably just birds pecking into the wall.
thanks anon, good thing is it didn't exit the house. bad thing is it partially went into a roommates room lol. made up some story tho and even if maintenance asks questions I have an alibi
Mine definitely went into someone's car or apartment, depending on the angle of ricochet. I was on the second story and shot kind of downward, it hit the concrete outside and either skipped along it into a car or angled and went into an apartment. Somebody was probably sitting there like wtf. Or maybe dead/injured and now I feel bad. We need to stop fucking around with guns inside guys...
I definitely learned my lesson. I now never put my finger on the trigger unless I've quadruple checked that it's clear as well as on safe(unless I'm dry firing, but in that case I've started to use snapcaps)
I don't get it, why do people ND? Seems like a very stupid thing to do. You could hurt yourself or someone else. Surely damaged your hearing.
>be me
>dont store guns except for my hd in condition 1
>never handle gun while intoxicated
>have tannerite around all possible entries to my property so the chamber goblins cant get in without significant damage to their forces
its good to have never ND'd
The closest I've had to an ND (knock on wood) was a premature discharge at the range. Was pretty new to shooting, with my first handgun, a DA/SA with a pretty vague break, and I'd let myself get into the habit of taking up the trigger as I brought it up to the target. Went too far and shot the ground under it. I'm hesitant to call it an ND since it was at a range with the gun in a safe direction etc. but it was definitely a wakeup call.
relax, nobody knows or will ever know what happened.
Just keep it your little personal shame in remembrance of being careful.
i ND a 105mm arty gun.
>on the gunline
>fire mission battery
>go to #2 position, we are #3 gun
>#1 and #2 guns fire
>here the radio say #3 gun fire
>im #2 on the tit
>i yell level
>#3 yells on
>i yell ready
>waiting for the #1 to say fire
>waiting
>i look up at him
>he's looking directly at me
>yells at me "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!"
>think fuck i must have missed him say fire (wearing hearing pro)
>yank the tit
>big boom
>everyone cringes
>#1 throws charge bags at me
>#1 says "you didn't say ready"
>oh
kek
I laughed, that's great
Guys in my unit ND a main tank gun in Afghanistan.
Tank is in 3rd line reserve but is set for it's 6 month PM. Part of the process runs through the gunnery system including checking to see if the day sight's flash shutters close when firing the gun. To check you pull the triggers and watch to see if the shutter close. Someone had parked the tank and left a live HEAT round in the gun.
In fairness nothing in the checklist says to check the gun to see if it has a round loaded, and it's like a 200 step procedure to run through.
So... where'd the round land? Just some empty desert bit or?
Into one of the big boy Hesco walls directly behind it.
When in storage you park the tank with the gun over the back deck, and all the tanks in storage had defensive wall around them.
Makes sense. Anyone get reamed for it?
>Makes sense. Anyone get reamed for it?
Each got the $1500 fine for an ND.
Oh yeah, same basic location but different people and vehicle, someone discharged the smoke grenades and started a fire in the cheap wooden roof over the vehicle. I think that was a LAV 25, (Coyote).
>$1500 fine
That's fucking retarded and makes me even more glad I didn't join thr goylitary. They fucking train them badly and tire them to shit then charge them when the mistake is made? The mistake is an error of the military itself for having poor traini and practices, at most they should face demotion or discharge. To criminally charge and fine the person themselves is ridiculous when they wouldn't even be there in that situation if they weren't giving their service. Don't they have qualified immunity in other areas? How is a legit ND not covered?
A one time fine is a bigger penalty than being demoted or even a discharge?
>In fairness nothing in the checklist says to check the gun to see if it has a round loaded
That's insane. I wonder if the procedure has been updated.
I'm guessing wildly that other procedures should make sure that the tank doesn't get parked for the night with a round still loaded. But I've been around similar lists long enough to know that this might very well be implied and at no point is it explicitly stated to check for this exact scenario.
I'm not a tanker, if someone who has first hand experience with these procedures could give his input it would be appreciated!
I was in HMKG when Breivik did his thing. We were guarding the area around the palace, the government building that he blew up and the Parliament. One of our officers got nervous about ND with all us retarded conscripts with loaded guns around. So he gets one of the NCOs to show everyone the drill to clear your rifle. But the NCO fucks up and NDs right in front of Parliament in the middle of Oslo.
PROTIP: if you own a gun over a year without negligent discharging at least once, you aren't handling it enough. NDs are a natural part of handling weapons, just like tweaking your back is part of weightlifting and car accidents are part of driving. I ND several times a year because I actually HANDLE and know how to USE my weapons. It makes me a better firearms handler and marksman, and it's a small part of the price you pay in the sheepdog lifestyle Simple fact is, the "safety mentality" will build mental blocks in your head that will get you killed. You need to be comfortable putting your finger on the trigger and pointing the gun wherever you want no matter the time, place, or status of the weapon. Taking time to check whether the gun is loaded whenever you pick one up will serve to make you hesitate in a personal defense scenario. You fucking safety idiots are going to get people killed all because of this fucking "ND" shaming. Guns are inherently dangerous, you need to accept it.
You're right I won't be so much of a bitch
I came damn close during hunting season last year.
>4:30am colder than a witch's tits
>out of the truck, about to head to my spot
>load my winchester, chamber round, start letting the hammer down to half-cock
>thumb slips just before it locks
It left an indent on the primer, would have shot my truck tire.
I literally have PTSD from mine and freak out about handling guns now. Also live in an apartment complex and shot through the wall so there was a hole in the exterior. I cut a piece of matching wood off another part of the building and glued it over the hole outside at night when (hopefully) no one was watching. Never heard about it. Apparently 5 neighboring units didn't hear it either or didn't care. I went door to door to let everyone know everything was ok and no one answered. No one called the cops, no one really does these days except boomers and they all live in houses. But go to their neighborhoods with a clear plastic airsoft gun and cops will swarm you after 50 Karen calls about a mass shooter.
>just put new stock on my maverick 88
>checking it out, going through all functions making sure I like how it feels
>forgot I loaded the tube 5 minutes ago
>rack the slide and pull the trigger without thinking
>put hole in wall and blow up brothers tape deck in the next room
>brother gets hit by piece of drywall but is otherwise uninjured
>dad confiscated shotgun and all my ammo
Worst fucking day of my life and I will never be careless when handling firearms ever again.
Because we're not pussies
If I had an ND, I would never admit it. Not even on a Kazakh beet farming board
