As a 6'4" chad with a strong jaw line and long flowing blond hair I have to say that recoil has never hurt me, ever.

is it like, a folding metal stock variant?
I get full auto .308 being hard to control, but in most rifles with ergonomic design, it doesnt hurt

Assuming that you're not firing some kind of ultra-lightweight 20mm rifle from the shoulder without any sort of padding or bracing ... it's because you're a pussy.

What gun are you actually having trouble with? We need to know how much of a pussy you are before we can tell you how to stop.

Stop holding the gun away from your shoulder and flinching. Snug that b***h up in there like it's breasts on your wiener. Lean >into< it instead of getting a bad case of the Chick Lean. Pic related. This woman is about to have A Bad Time, because she's
        • Tilted the gun to the outside of her shoulder and contacted her rotator cuff (presumably to avoid the studs on her vest) instead of snugging it into the pocket between the collarbone and shoulder.
        • Chick Leaning hard backwards. This pulls her hips out of the equation, putting even more stress on her lower back and shoulder
        • Pulled the gun up and away from her shoulder a little (again, probably to avoid studs), which gives it space to accelerate backwards and smack her.
She >is< using the sling correctly, though. Ideally, she'd pull the vest back and let it drape around the outside of the stock for this.

Pain is weakness leaving the body.

    Embrace the recoil. Firmly.

      >Embrace the recoil. Firmly.
Embrace the recoil tenderly. Stroke the recoil. Tell the recoil how important it is to you. Gaze tenderly into the recoil's eyes. Kiss the recoil. Love the recoil. Marry the recoil. Have a large, loving, family with the recoil. Grow old with the recoil, becoming ever closer in your relationship as the two of you complete each other in ways you never thought were possible.

I shot my first carbine when I was a fricking child, and the recoil wasn't shit, it was my ears that got the worst end of it
