Why do modern tools, even the supposedly quality ones, look like frail toys? Is it because using of powder metallurgy instead of forging?

Meme design by indians
Huh, this makes a lot of sense actually. I've been getting "Mattel playset" vibes for a while now.
Its unironically the answer. Davinder Singh is up there in management somewhere saying why make tools look beautiful when we can save money and just use plastic everywhere. And while we're at it, we don't need to put a nice color scheme on the plastic, we'll just make it look like duplo with one solid fuckugly color.
Meanwhile Xiaoxong Chin is designing bimmers with huge sniffers because any change is good, even if it means throwing out classic design language
>Xiaoxong Chin is designing bimmers with huge sniffers
what does this mean
Also, the moulds wear out, so they have to make new ones anyway. So why not take the opportunity to trick smooth brains into buying “new” (looking) tools? Yeah, we’ll still be using the same pot metal for the non-plastic parts (if you can even find them)
Who designs the new look? If you guessed indian MBA interns that have never held a tool in their lives—then we have a winner!
show an example.
literally anything by wera
never heard of it.
its german, poorfag.
no I don't live in hitlerburg
There are respectable German tools that don’t look like children’s toys.
nice buttplug collection.
look like kids toys.
They are kids toys, from a brand who is actively outsourcing to Asian countries while still charging made in germany prices
If your drivers are anything but the old Snap-Ons with the square black handles, you're gay.
That’s because Wera is a social media tool brand designed for Redditors, not tradesman
#TOOLREBEL
ill have you know i have no less than 7 yes 7 toolcheck pluses.
Ive never seen someone let a random brand of tools (a non chink brand mind you) live so rent free in their head.
It was kind of funny at first, but its really gotten sad.
You are literally telling people to tools made in vietnam rather than tools made by white people because you saw an advertisement on twitter.
I only buy tools made by companies who refuse to hire morons and chinks.
Im proud to be a #TOOLREBEL
So gay
Not sure what you’re talking about.
Also it seems like Wiha makes more shit in Germany than Wera. Even Wera’s mainstay drivers are all Czech and other Soviet shitholes
>Also it seems like Wiha makes more shit in Germany than Wera
Well sure, seeing how 100% of Wera tools are made in the Czech Republic. Its all from one factory, not from random asian factories.
By that same token, Wiha makes a ton more shit in Vietnam and Taiwan than Wera does too!
100% of Wihas pliers are made in Vietnam, 100% of their screwdriver bits are too.
Half of their screwdrivers are Vietnamese. All their ratchets and wrenches are made in Taiwan.
The only thing they consistently make in Germany are basic allen wrenches.
If you are going to hop on the Wiha bandwagon (not sure why youd jump on a sinking ship), you had better buy them now. It wont be too long till they will all be made in Vietnam.
Klaus would be proud of the diverse globohomo chink tools you have.
Ahh yes and all of the Asian made Wera Joker overpriced meme wrenches too.
Also who is suggesting to buy Wiha pliers?
>Ahh yes and all of the Asian made Wera Joker overpriced meme wrenches too.
Wera Joker wrenches are made in the Czech Republic by white men.
But you wouldnt care about that.
Youve made it clear you have an affinity for cheap globohomo tools, made by the chinks.
>Also who is suggesting to buy Wiha pliers?
Not a single fucking person, because they are Vietnamese garbage
Maybe it really is this
I have a handful of things made in Vietnam, some Jappo brands manufacture shit there. I think it’s some Vessel drivers and one of those Jappo pliers brands. It’s a step up from Chinese shit for sure.
wera makes thinks in the Czech Republic because they have lax requirements to put that label on shit, you are buying chink and taiwan shit rebadged with a made in the Czech Republic
All you need to claim "made in x" status is 60% of total value; you can easily meet that even by just adding retail packaging, depending on what you're selling to whom.
modern designs for the modern world
i need a full set of QUALITY micro drivers not some faggy bit kit, wuts gud?
Wiha makes some big kits for electronic techs, check those out.
Thank you. I have more in the box
I’m fucking done with Craftsman acetate handle drivers for anything but pry bars.
>acetate handle
That's literally the best material there is, lasts forever.
Linus has a nice piece of kit for that. Well reviewed by Project Farm too so you know it's legit.
All the wiha and wera shills just turn your hard earned cash into yuan.
My Wiha and Felo tools still say “Made In Germany”, including screwdrivers I bought at Lowe’s like 2 months ago.
Until they crack. And the complaint is more about Craftsman than the handles. Those ubiquitos Craftsman screwdrivers make you think a US made screwdriver is just as good as anything else. Then I got some Kleins and Felos and Vessel and shit and you realize the good drivers hold screws like a damn magnetic Craftsman.
yeah that happens with the factory being located in Qingdao
Except the acetate handle Craftsmans made in bumblefuck Ohio crack just as easily
Forget ifixit. That's hipster crap designed by stronk wahmen. Their bit holders have extra strong neodymium magnets so it's almost impossible to remove small tipped bits without pliers.
Moody Tools makes very nice individual precision screwdriver sets, made in the USA.
... are you grumpy because they add comfort grips? that's a silly thing to be grumpy about.
>comfort grip
>only comfortable for small handed women and the exact grip position they designed for
sounds like a you problem boo.
>Why do modern tools, even the supposedly quality ones, look like frail toys? Is it because using of powder metallurgy instead of forging?
don't know what you're on about.
if anything they look overly chonky, but you know I don't get all butt hurt because someone makes a tool that wrinkles your diaper.
This seems like the perfect thread to ask.
If you are in Vietnam and are looking for employment, Wiha is actively hiring designers and sales officers and technical
Remember Wiha has 3 Vietnam factories (Song Cong I Industrial Park, Bach Quang Ward, Thai Nguyen Province) that specialize in manufacturing high quality pliers, screwdrivers and screwdrivers for Wiha brand and some famous brands in the world such as Milwaukee, Maximum CTC, Makita, Wurth, Hoffman
Pic related is from the 2012 opening of the Song Cong plant! (though our Thai Nguyen plant has been operational since 2006!)
Here is site to read about our 3 glorious factories

Tạm biệt!
Because they are frail toys,,, Milwaukee recently released a cordless ratchet that was way too weak, and had to recall it and release another one with literally more metal.
All tools nowadays have to look like nike shoes with overmoulded shit that turns into a sticky mess in a few years after the reviews are done and the warranties are up.
its only the chinkshit, really
Facom is French, and most of the industrial designers also seem to be French, at least based on names on the the patents I’ve seen.
Facom realized if the redesigned the looks of the tools every ten years or so, they could sell more tools to professionals who already owned the sane tools.
To be fair though, the tools usually, although not always, gave very good ergonomics and are well made.
That rotating handle design is actually based, to bad it isn't extensible.
>FAGOM
There's your answer
So there’s a new line of Craftsman V Series tools that look to be rebranded Facom but made in Asia. Tempted to try a ratchet but they’re not sold in any brick & mortar stores.
Because 99% of then will never be used by the larping "handyman" tough guys who buy them, so most people never even know they bought garbage
Not really to anyone in particular but we have a literal cubic yard and a half of extra wrenches at work. That way we can ben, beat snap modify. You know whatever.
Ill post pics tommorow.
Is there really much of a difference?
