Because frankly it while it looked cool as hell it kinda sucked to actually use. Really mediocre trigger, managed to somehow be unpleasant in feel shooting, dunno. If you tried all the modern bullpups that get generally recommended, F2k would be dead last. Though there are some anons that do like their silly chubby babies but if they're being honest they'll at least admit it's a niche taste.

Result is that as competition heated up they stopped selling. So FN stopped making them. Which instantly made the price shoot up because they became "collector's items" but that's how it is. Same thing happened to one of my guns for a different reason which I regret.

It was too late the the bullpup party. They were in vogue in the late 70's, not the late 90's. Everyone else who adopted one that late made it domestically or had already bought the AUG.

        >It was too late the the bullpup party
What the frick are you talking about? Except for the Aug (and even that has had major revisions) what current popular bullpups are pre-2001? X95? 2009. VHS? 2009, VHS-2 was 2013. Keltec and DesertTech's ones are also more recent.

It's the opposite: the F2000 existed and went along at a time when options and competition was quite limited. Then a lot of much better bullpups came out and what sales there were shriveled.

FS2000 was better than all of those.
Few bullpups have staying power outside of the AUG.
          >new bullpup comes out
          >is popular for 5-10 years
          >fades away because bullpups are a meme
          >new bullpup comes out
          >cycle repeats itself
FS2000s time has come and gone. Same as MSAR, Tavor, MDR, and the VHS will be next.
Bullpups are novelties, their lifespan is short.

That's because the 1977 marked the creation of the alpha and omega of the bullpup genre.

No, they're the superior way to do guns, it simply took time for them to develop to the same degree since they started later.

Syrians have been converting AKs into bullpups specifically for their more special operation oriented forces, and we also see alot of them cropping up in *that specific conflict that shall not be named* as well, nicknamed the Malyuk.

Syrians are third worlders and do goofy third worlder shit, like use bullpups.
Ukrainians are getting a bunch of free gear, not surprising to see a plethora of guns in use.

still doesn't take away from the fact that bullpups are seeing just as much combat as the humble AR and AK.

Every single time the same hollow arguments are always carted out by the pupless. Just a quick series of questions for you, are you an SOF opr8r? Do you shoot comp? Do you actually do anything besides put holes in paper or ring steel like most people? Moreover, ever consider that the one occasion you'll likely ever need to use a rifle to kill a person is if they break into your house? I.E. the one scenario where bullpus completely run circles around any standard layout rifle?

L85, FAMAS. The widespread trials/adoption of the bullpup coincided with the adoption of the 5.56. By the late 90's most countries had already adopted their STANAG dispenser of choice, and were unlikely to adopt a new design so soon.

MSRP was ~$1500 if I'm not mistaken, so that's price competitive to similar offerings. Current market value is full moron though.

I'd believe that. ~1500 was the number Bud's spat out from a quick and lazy search. Were those things imported during the AWB?

            Anonymous

No, there weren’t any FS2000s being sold in the US until after the AWB expired in 2004.
The original ones with the integrated optic were about $1700.
Then around 2010 when they tried to modernize them and had the flat top/rail handguard and green models out they were about 1500.
SCAR came out around then and had the SOCOM factor going for it and they disappeared around 2012-14 I think.

The F2000 worked fine, but has a real weakness: if a round gets stuck inside, the procedure to clear it and dissasebly it's just too cumbersome compared to other rifles.
That, the price, and the SCAR being its sucessor basically killed it as a product.
