Because their .22 handguns with 10 round magazines are legal in almost* every state, even most of the shitholes.

Why can't California get mk4? Does it have to be on the roster or something else they don't like about it? It's just a rimfire pistol! Why is California like this.

        handgun roster.
If you don't have fancy bulletstamping technology that doesn't exist, and you didn't predate roster, no approval.

double stack is notoriously unreliable with rimfire. the rims bind up on each other something fierce.

Yeah, the closest they can get is having the noses of the cartridge single stack but staggering the rims to the left and right at the rear of the magazine. The Taurus TX22 and several Kel-Tecs use this method and seem to be fairly reliable. The TX22 holds 16 rounds in a flush-fit magazine.

I really want to get one but those barrels and the God damn replacement barrel keyholing makes me queasy.

My TX22 finally shoots straight with its 4th barrel. The first replacement was free, the second one cost me $50 to ship the gun in for warranty service, and the final good barrel was another $50 to just buy. While I was waiting for barrels to come back in stock I picked up a Mark IV Target and now I only use the Taurus for teaching new shooters because it has glock-like ergos.

I am convinced that the warranty service for TX22 barrels consists of them taking the bad barrel out of your pistol, throwing it in a big box, then grabbing another barrel from the same box to put in your gun and send back. The action is reliable and the upfront price is good but the gun is not worth the headache.

That's what I thought seeing barrels for the tx22 to usually be out of stock

the market for a high quality 22 that doesn’t pass into walther ssp or hammerli or pardini territory doesn’t care if there’s more than ten round mags because we don’t need them for target sports we play
if you want to mag dump 22 into the trash where 6 more rounds is helpful then you can buy cheaper guns

hey, i have a ruger mark 4 i was trying to remove the left side safety, i was using a quality hex bit, but ended up stripping the screw.
ruger is sending me a new one
how can i get this one out? i tried fitting a bunch of bits i had, and non really felt like they would turn well.

      would friction drops work?

you could have looked up in the manual what size hex bit you needed lol
it’s small enough that i would put a bit of jb weld and a sacrificial allen key and just stick them together

i used the correct size 1/16 Craftsman hex wrench. it even made that satisfying metal clank noise that I thought was the bolt breaking free but instead it was all 5 sides slipping.
i was thinking jb weld too, but its such a small screw.

          >craftsman
not to shit on you anon, but the craftsman tools really suck. i’ve had a lot over the years completely out of spec, and it leads to problems like this
i would wager if you took calipers to the bit, it would be small

this craftsman set is from 15 years ago back when it was not all china.
recommend me a quality brand for hex keys.

i like wera a lot, i can’t recall off the dome any out of spec tools from them thst i’ve dealt with
i’m not qualified to say how good old craftsman tools were, maybe they used to be good, in which case I’d be pretty upset at ruger for out of spec screws

i think it was just too tight and the key went first. one of the grip screws almost slipped on me, they really over tightened some stuff.
anyway, either i send the gun out or invest in a hex extractor kit
