You should get that engine light checked anon.

Frame is fine on my -98 XJ, but its rusting from rocker panels (again), gonna probably have to get that fixed before my yearly inspection. Also had to Black person-rig a push button start override because during winters the starter relay starts fricking around.

When I bought my xj I could only roll down the front passenger window with the switch on that side. I didn't bother fixing it and I'm glad because about 2 months later the drivers side switch started working on its own. There's been several things that have fixed themselves. Blessed vehicle

Mine had the same. Mostly due to the wiring harness that goes between the driver side door and the dash. The drive train on mine was is great condition and didn't even have 140k on the odometer but winter and salt took its toll.

        Anonymous

The third bit will often prevent or remedy the two other bits anyways

          Anonymous

Yeah there's absolutely some overlap between the three, being a broke white trash piece of shit is often conflated with just not having money, but more often than not it comes down to not having the mental discipline to save up

            Anonymous

Funny how that correlates more these days than in the past. I guess it's because people have more opportunities these days, and being poor is more of a choice than it ever was in the past.
My ancestors range from working class to upper class, but even the ones from the working class had good manners that would put most upper class people today to shame. Fricking nu-money, man.

            Anonymous

            >but more often than not it comes down to not having the mental discipline to save up
So my take on it is that this usually is a result of growing up in a household where your parent or parents also just blew their paycheck from a dead-end job on booze and ciggs as a coping mechanism for their trainwreck life, and the kids follow suit. Their family was never one of means but until the deindustrialization of the nation the men still were able to bring the bacon home from the meat processing plant or steel mill or whatever. That's just not a thing anymore, and they basically are just rotting away with no prospects of escaping.

              Anonymous

Anyone can escape, unless they're fricking idiots who are simply to stupid to be able to be of worth to society, beyond being a worker drone. It's quite often a choice.
I'm aware that this is an extreme generalization, and that outside factors and someone's family situation can play into it all, but for most people, that's not they fail.

I think I can manage, I'm just fricking terrified of losing control of my life and turning into a walking disaster area like the guy in the OP pic...thanks for the tips

It’s not the WORST way to lead your life, tbh.

Fairly low-stress if you allow it to be.
The end parts kind of suck, as the head disease and the ‘beetus causes the JooQuacks to start cutting parts off of you, but the end of ANY life isn’t gonna be a picnic anyway, is it?

And this ole boy would have no qualms in strapping a field-dressed deer carcass splayed out on the hood of his SUV…and like.y already has done so.
