They must be the inspiration for HECU Marines of Half-Life (1998)

      >USMC Force Recon
      >wearing black berets (exclusively used by the 75th Ranger Regiment at the time)

This movie gets so much shit wrong that it stops being annoying and actually becomes entertaining how much they get wrong.

IIRC HECU were partly based on the USMC from the 1997 and 1998 Urban Warrior exercises

HECU also didn't originally have the urban woodland camo- that was done later for the explicit purpose of making them more visible in 640 x 480- turns out at those resolutions, appropriate camo actually made them really fricking hard to spot in outdoor sections

Helmets are useless and provide no tactical or safety advantage in modern warfare.

Watch it. It's one of the GOAT action movies. Fantastic Nic Cage hamming it up, Connery playing a not-007 and one of the best Zimmer soundtracks. Oh and Claire Forlani.

Humans react better to seeing faces, actors want their face shown. Filming with helmets requires more work to get the faces in focus and they take up more space on the screen

HSLD Operators Operating Operationally at best use bump helmets.

They had bioweapons emplaced in multiple locations and didn't not expect anyone to seriously try to take them down. They were overconfident.

If they do have headgear, it's quickly thrown away so you can see the actor's hair.

The infamous half face helmet so you can see the actor's face. They do not trust the audience to know who's who.

Lazy frick can't just give them AESTHETIC helmet who easily identify them. Or you know, coat of arms.
But that would mean colors and everyone know they where not invented in the middle ages.

Because they infiltrated the place under the guise of being tourists, and lugging around a helmet probably wouldn't have helped them.
