Why are ukies trying to copy the shitty Lancet design? The X wing design seems completely unnecessary.

The father of these drones is the Uvision Hero series and that one is based on various x wing bomb and missile designs of the 80s.

Lancets are half decent, just too weak a warhead to do much other than kill infantry and damage vehicles. It needs to get lucky with a secondary explosion to really destroy anything.

    to actually make it work

wtf is that a microscopic push prop on it's ass? I used to build foam core RC planes as a hobby and that does not look like it could fly WITHOUT a payload

It's launched by way of a big ass catapult which I assume gives it enough speed to make up for the small prop

You mean Israeli HERO, a well known and tested kamikaze drone

    >Why are ukies trying to copy the shitty Lancet design?
    1. That ain't it. That is something that happened to be in a show-and-tell display by the state transportation service to showcase an EU aid package. Journalists just assumed it's the thing because they're shit at life. See https://desuarchive.org/k/thread/60888321

    >copy
    2. Not a copy, just another x-wing. The lancet is far too shitty to be worth copying.

    3. When this article was published, the news wasn't of first tests, it was of imminent funding for serial production runs.

the same reason they laughed about the cope cages and went to put it when lancet started to get their asses

same reason they laughed about dragon's teeth and now they are also making them

same reason they laughed at the russians for making trenches and giving them the middle finger during the counter offensive and now they are rushing like idiots to make as many trenches as they can

Plenty of drones use that shape. Just because you only know about it form the Lancet doesn't make it a Lancet-specific (or even specifically Russian) design.

list ones not made by lancet company

    >Why are ukies trying to copy the shitty Lancet design?
They're planning to use a warhead not intended for building demolition, so they've already improved it by using a more weight and spatially efficient filler.
Real world testing will be needed to see if they also fix the control-surfaces-being-shit issue.

The X-wing design is there to make sure it always has lift, and can always turn into all directions regardless of where it's facing, how it's tilted, etc. The same as missiles. The wings are bigger than the fins of a missile because it flies slower.

you can do all that with a normal design
