Actually, Indonesia has been increasing the size of their navy, purchasing more Leopard tanks, new artillery systems and various other things.
They are also the partner in the KF21, and developing modernized IFVs.

They aren't a partner to the KF-X program as they have literally contributed nothing, they haven't even paid the money that they promised to.

if there's no more news then you can pretty much assume that it went nowhere because of a lack of funds (and it did)
we've only paid like half of our shares for the development of kf-21, and sk threatened to kick us out if we're not going to pay it soon

So Korea decided not to accept payment in palm oil?

Indonesia has become completely cucked, and so is Malaysia.

I literally want to see civil war in those countries because that's the only way they'll become useful. How can someone be so pathetic that they won't even stand up to an isolated weakling like Myanmar that genocides the Rohingya for decades?

Let's be honest here, no one in the Muslim world gives a shit about the Rohingya and never have. Saudi princes will raise an army of Mujahideen to oppose the Soviets in Afghanistan, but won't so much as speak ill of Burma's government.

The only people who seem to care at all are Americans and even then, the genocide of the Rohingya is considered so low of a priority that military intervention to put a stop to it isn't even considered.

Saudi princes only care for their fellow sandBlack folk. Them giving a shit with Afghanistan was a massive stretch given they treat all non-ME mudslimes as "converted" subhumans.

Junglemonkey "muslims" aren't considered real humans let alone fellow muslims for the Saudis to give a shit.
No Indon mullah gets listened to in Saudi
        >its like southern US whites converted their cottonpickers to 'gospel music' but they still didnt let them into church or even count them as humans
Saudis hire muslim banglas and indons as house-slaves because they know the halal rules as the good little trained monkeys, not like brown christos who might accidentally contaminate their kitchen with their pork stained fingers

Indonesia is an Islamic theocracy this unlikely to progess any further in its development than other Islamic theocracies such as Iran

They have elections though so they can't be a theocracy.

Check their regions. They have a very loose federal system in some areas so depending on where you are living in Indonesia, the term democracy may not apply.

we've only recently begun reforming our crumbling military for the first time since the suharto's era
corruption, weak economy, and low quality human resources are constant problems in this country
low average iq too obviously, not enough to manage a country that big

I read a while back that you guys are considering buying a few 30FFMs from Japan, any more recent news on that? I’ve been watching Mitsubishi build them in Nagasaki and they’re cranking them out pretty quick

To have a better military you must be rich first.

Singapore is filthy rich hence they can afford bleeding edge tech. City states are the very definition of easy mode.

Indonesia and the other SEA countries are real countries with real problems. They're not perfect but they're trying. The only loser in the region is the Philippines who has a way more pathetic fourth world tier military despite being an average third world economy.

And the funniest part is the Philippines are likely the one to be annihilated/conquered by China first.

Because they've been mentally cucked since Spanish colonization. Filipinos won't learn until there's a 8-digit US dollar hole in their federal budget and Bingbang has moved to China

Tends to happen when you have an MDT with America, so the military & government gets lazy and/or corrupt and stays as an COIN Police force fit only to deal with local problems.

Barring South Korea & Thailand, none of those were a feudal landlord dominated ex-Hispanic clusterfrick.

          >Taiwan.
Eh, they're basically like the Philippines right now. Utterly reliant on the US for its defense. They wouldn't last long to the modern PLA. Shit the veteran KMT nearly didn't.

It should also be noted that the Philippines disproportionately hemorrhages the top 10%+ of their country's talented individuals to West and elsewhere.

For decades it's been in the top 4 percent of feeder countries of immigrants to the US while having a fraction of the population of China / India and not sharing a porous land border with the USA like Mexico has.

If your country is 100+ million people who are mostly one generation removed from being dirt farmers, each talented person who goes to America or Hong Kong or Dubai means, at best, their village stays in the dark ages for another decade - at worst the fellow village people flee the country or decamp for metro Manila.

End result: the country's real elites are abroad and the "elites" who stay to run things are B-team players.

Indonesia is a collection of heterogeneous cultures under a very tenuous Javanese empire. Most of their energies need to be directed inwards to avoid imploding.

    Also they're poor.

Most islands are undeveloped jungle swamps, only good for slash&burn deforestation and raping orangutans.
Java as the main island is so overpopulated in Jakarta that it is sinking into its own mud and shit Venice-style but without the historic arcitecture.
Plan B is the usual 3rd world dictator dream of building a whole new 'Great Capital' city on Borneo, but that means designing and planning everything from scratch so even if they could afford it, it will be 4-5 architectural monstrosities, presidential palaces, etc surrounded by a mile of shitfilled shanty shacks and indian-tier designated sewer streets
        >the only defence advantage Jakarta has, apart from nobody wnting to go there, is that it was safe on an isolated island. By being on Borneo Junkarta2 is on the same large island that the Malaysian Army can base legally and safely in Sarawak and invade if they ever need to.
Basically the Indonesian archipelago is Australia's barrier minefield between it and Asia and China, except its like a front lawn covered in piles of dogshit nobody wants to step in rather than explosive mines

They pose a lot, but their underlying economy is so shit, they can't afford to use any of the fancy toys they buy, or even the stuff the Australians give them for 'charity'.
    >bought Migs from Russia - couldnt even afford a single op load of missiles so for airshows only
    >are part of KF21 project but tried to pay their % in palm oil, then had a bad harvest so cant export any surplus palm oil
    >the Nomads that were death traps that Oz aviation dumped were given to them as 'aid' - they are rusting in the weeds - perhaps best use for them but they still took them anyway
    >but so are the C130As then C130Es from RAAF that were perfectly serviceable - but now are hulks with no spares and no maintenance
TNI is that poor that units run factories and logging camps as 'unit funds' corporations using the soldiers as free labor, and officers base their postings on which units turn the best profits to supplement their shit wages

TNI has been in a permanent military conflict in West Papua since the 1950s-60s.
And permanently losing to literally stone-age jungle villagers with spears and bow&arrows.
See "Konfrontasi" to see they got fricked over the only time they tried to frick with a white army - the Brit SAS in Borneo
