France got so obsessed with being modern and update that they kinda throw the baby out with the bathwater sometimes.
A lot of institutions in Europe suffer from this meme. Many universities will use corporate style nu-logos instead of simply sticking to their Medieval crests. Even Oxford changed their Printing Press publishing logo to some bullshit MS Office Tier abomination

If your country's military symbol isn't concise, catchy and can be drawn from memory, it's a shit symbol and totally worthless. Also crowns on modern military insignias just look extremely cringe and forced unless it's maybe Bongland.

              you illiterate turbo Black person
the austrian symbol has maybe more history condensed than any other into it:

red white red resembles Duke Leopold of Babenbergs crusader dress. he was busy besieging Jerusalem with King Richard when he got the info that the archons elected him emperor of the holy roman empire.
since he couldnt fly his family crest for the job, he needed a new one. to show everyone that he means business, he chose his crusaders dress, which he just took off his armor after a busy day of cutting down muslims at the walls of jerusalem. The dress was covered in blood exept where his sword belt was, there a white stripe remained.
et voilà, austrias crest was born, red white red stripes.
make the red a roundell and the white a spiky triangle to stay minimalistic but easy to recognise.

Only good ones are Czech, Poland, Spain, Britain, Russia, Moldova and Serbia. Ukraine would be good with a better colorway and Germany should just use a black iron cross, not this faded grey shit and blue text

Absolutely repulsive peak globohomosexual design, has NATO symbol, major points off for two words in two languages 0/10
    >Real netherlands
Very nice use of only two colours and one heraldic charge, eye catching but again losing points for words, but at least the font isn't garish 7/10
    >Luxemburg
Nice coat of arms, easily recognizable, good overall 7.5/10
    >Krauts
Iron cross is distinct and iconic, but overall ruined by Heer 6.5/10
    >Swiss
Swiss cross is one of the finest symbols out there recognized across the civilized world, but it's completely ruined by "Swiss Army" in various babble 2/10
    >Pastry
Beautiful use of their CoA, colours make it pop 8/10
    >Black metal land
Using their arms was a good start but the style is far too clip art-y 6/10
    >Somalia
Bold and iconic, good use of sticking to a few colours, swords could be greater detail 8.5/10
    >Binland
Great CoA, stuck to three bold colours overall, but the clip art swords in the back detract from it overall 7/10
    >Eesti
Nice CoA but the gold would have been nicer if it was brighter against the sable field, otherwise it looks a bit washed out 7/10
    >Greater Riga
Unsightly, looks like something found on a royalty free website 3/10
    >Africa
Use of the inescutcheon and the Gediminid symbol is very nice, overall quite strong 7/10
    >Kurwa
Simple, one colour Eagle displayed and elevated, very good 8.5/10
    >Poland with a blue triangle
Style is correct but use of colours is all fricking wrong, an attempt was made 5/10

Britain, US, France, and Poland actually rely on military experience from the most recent century. Germany slightly less so, but they do have some institutional knowledge from what once was the most powerful military in Europe. Case studies in Ukraine from the last year are going to be pretty important for the next generation of officers, so any military that's supporting the Ukies will likely have respected academies.

It always made me laugh that the Pirates of the Caribbean movies designed a new, ominous flag for the evil East India Company (pic related) even though it was one of the most powerful organizations in history with a well-known flag... presumably because the studio expected American audiences would be very confused if they used the real flag.

I'm a sucker for the Iron Cross, it's simple yet iconic and it looks especially great on aircraft. It's really too bad the krauts have fallen into the habit of trying to downplay it because muh nazi associations. You can immediately tell from the choice of color for the current army version that they tried to make it look more non-threatening.compared to the stark black-and-white contrast of the traditional version. They don't even award it as a medal anymore, it's such a sad waste.

basically every polish insignia has eagles with crows because soviets took the crowns so we added them back just to spite them
historically, the king in Poland didn't have much real power since the 17th century or so, so the crown has a long history of being a symbol

The good Henry actually got his son to be crown-prince of France and held the crown for him. One united dual monarchy in the West!

Unfortunately, he had ruined England to defeat the French and the peasants went full riot mode and many of the knights to suppress then were dead in France.

They rioted the frick our of the kingdom and even seized the young prince, now king, and could have deposed him or killed him, but flinched and let him go.

Eventually the rioters lost but only because they ran out of richgays to loot and began to loot the poor city folk who has joined and helped them. These then turned on the rebels and helped the nobility put the revolt down.

Basically, won the war but taxes his people into open warfare to do it, which then destroyed his army and let the French take back the crown and, slowly, more and more territory.

But the whole reason the nobility and English king had claims in France in the first place was because they were of French descent.

best: Germany. though it would be better in the classic black and white. they obviously toned down the contrast to make it less menacing.

Ukraine, Finland are also pretty cool. of those with crowns (usually too convoluted), Norway looks best.
Kosovo is pretty baller tbh. Swiss is a bit simplistic but also a classic.

worst: has to be Austria. looks like a laundry symbol. also bad: France, Belgium, Portugal. Turkey looks gay because they are.

a hard tie between Britian, Sweden, and France.

    >Britian
actually has an expeditionary force, it is well equipped and has always held good relations with the US. being an island nation it is both forced to have a strong navy, but also that navy is well equped.

    >France
generally considered to be over compensating, france has a small empire and either directly or indirectly controls North Africa. it has an expeditionary force, but it is more correct to call it an extra-territorial military policing force. they are a declining power with some significant problems to over come to maintain their status quo.

honestly, I would recommend they stop trying so hard, they would benefit more long term by giving up on their ambitions.

    >Sweden
their policy of armed nutrality has built up a very strong domestic industry and built up a strong standing national army. while no expeditionary force, no one doubts Sweden's ability to defend itself without the aid of NATO or the EU.

I'm going over some reasons of nations I chose not to include:

    >Germany
while definitely a leading arms producer, they have a significant logistics and armament problem. this is very deep and inset. it has nothing to do with their capacity but the Obstinance of their procurement branch of government. if they could just engineer a way around that, they could probably compete with the likes of the US.

    >Poland

while quite aggressive towards Russia, their military is heavily focused on national defense. they don't field the top of the line equipment, and still have some lingering soviet equipment that is "rack grade" and has been modified heavily. luckily as of recent they have "leased" a lot of it to the Ukraine as it is cheaper and are replacing it with second hand US equipment and NATO equipment.

    >Turkey
they have a strong national military, but no expeditionary force. they are rather a wild card but internal struggles keep them from realizing their full strength.
